Memorization.
I'm bad at FL though. Only have a Flashlight+Hidden score on two hard/insane maps. FL+H is waaaay harder than just FL because sometimes you can barely see the approach circle from the next combo and it shows you where to go.
As for jumps, sometimes the follow points can help show where the notes are.

I've been playing a little more lately with Flashlight than I used to (still not much).
I find it's just a matter of knowing the map, though. If you can hit the beats by the song alone and can flow with the map, it's not too hard.

I watch the song several times in whatever and just memorize. Also, the more 300's you get at the beginning, the faster the flashlight shrinks (I've noticed)..
sometimes it's easier for me to learn a song in FL if I continue to play even if I miss..

Actually Flashlight gets smaller once at 100 combo and again at 200 combo, where it stays until you miss. It resets to full strength when you miss.

you memorize the jump position on your screen even if the screen is all black and try not to think too much when playing.
if you start to think to much you are hesitating and if you play along and miss you notice what you make wrong and you will get it the next tries

I've only fl'd three maps I think, two were my own and one had stuff really close together so I could still see everything that was coming up regardless of the darkness

I'lltell You guys my way to fc maps with Flashlight:
1. You have to control Your mind.
2. Look at beatmap in editor or play it without mod. Just one time should be ok.
3. You have to associate hard moments like jumps, sliders, etc. (remember song moment) with something for example geometric figures.
4. Let's play. You know that hard moment should be right there, and You think: oh...it should be square here. Then You remember, whre notes are placed, and play.
5. If You slept well it should take maximum few retrys
That's it. Very simple, when You do a little practice.

shaggon is very right ^^ you have to remember the locations of the hard parts and the rest comes with practice or you move along the distance

While we're at it, is it me or is LyNch cheating?
He's got a lot of #1 on insane songs with hidden + fl, vide Last Remote and Lucent Wish... the replays are sick. >.>
P.S: I'm no expert at this but if you look at the cursor of his replays, it doesn't look like he is playing with FL at all, it looks like more of a macro to me...

I only used Hidden and hard rock, I have never used FL. And I am wondering too how to play with FL. I get lost, especially in slider and jumper. T.T

I love Flash Light.
