This is my follow up to this thread I did when I just joined OT (For context I had been half a year on OT at the date of making that thread)
so... how has things changed from that thread?, do I still feel out of the loop?, well the answer is a little bit more complex than that
Turns out, that I felt outside of the loop because there was NO community on OT, I don't have fancy words to say this in, but everyone seem to post for themselves. I have seen people join and leave OT without no one acknowlodging that one person which was active for a year had just stopped posting. Every community project needs to also be extremely simple, because the thought of coordinating with other ot users or doing anything hard is just too much to ask apparently
In fact, just actually talking can be a hard thing in OT, since if someone sees more than 2 paragraphs in a thread they just wont read it. THat's the reason of the warning at the start
I don't think this has changed at all. I dont think OT has a real community. For every drama OT had and whatever, no one has ever seemed to care. My biggest example is the denizen title, something that while now it seems pretty stable, when I joined every other week there was a denizen drama. Everyone was constantly so angry and in disregard with it and whatever
oh denizen is bad, that's why we voted x as president, someone which will not make anything ever, happened this president, happened last president.
Oh, corne is a GMT now and they have responsability for the thread?, let's see the changes they make to it to actually improve this community thing that they had complained in the past
I designed OT!Eras with that idea, a thread to kill all the denizen dramas forever. A thread to prove that OT wasn't more active in the past, one where the system is fair and easy to understand, something that we can really lash into as a community. Whenever I released it, I was dissapointed
AM I IN????????????????
ADD ME TO THE THREAD PLEASE
HOW DOES THE THREAD WORK
OMG I'M IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not many people decided to read the thread and read the small ammount of text explaining it, people only cared if THEY specifically were in.
That thread took like a lot of time to make, and while some people like kobold were really helpful torward it, I do still believe that the general concesus of OT torwards the thread is "ADD ME TO THE THREAD"
Not only that, but after I put so much hours into making that thread, and trying to fix the single biggest recurring drama in OT history, the moment someone makes a thread that is minimally impressive, someone claims it's the greatest thread in OT history, I get you're trying to be positive, but by saying that every time, you're making the threads that came before it seem worse and forgotten.
When I joined OT, I was kinda anxious and whatever, It's the internet yes, but i'm just anxious with people I don't really know in general, I was mostly positive and understanding, didn't post threads very much, and I was trying to be part of the community I thought existed
now, as you can see I have become more aggressive, and I make more threads. My threads often die the moment they're posted. And now recently, people have started making the same threads I used to do, without realizing I had made that exact thread in the past. I just feel forgotten man, when I see someone complain about the state of ot and how they want more of x thread or how x thread is the best thread in OT history I just feel bad.
Is this the reason why I put love into OT?, to just be forgotten?
With rate your OT thread I realized that the threads that are percieved as best are the threads that just mention other users, without requiring those same users to do much as if not the thread would die. You guys want to be part of this "community" without trying to put the effort in to make it feel like one
now, there is a sentence I've been using a lot on OT, and that is, I want more drama, I want more action, I want more chaos. I say it genuinly, you guys are so overly fucking positive that it just feels forced. If every thread is the best, no thread is the best. If everyone agrees blindly with what everyone else says and do, how am I ever going to know your personal opinion?
Because every time I talk about a controversial topic, that I know it's controversial, and i'm talking about it to truly see your guys opinion you mask it, "oh so true I don't really quite agree with this but I see your point of view".
Stop lying, call me out, say how i'm wrong. Don't just ignore my thread, actually post and call me out. I don't care if that makes you seem like a bad person, stop forcing yourself to be positive and actually be yourself.
I've made posts calling out SPECIFIC USERS, even if I didn't call them by name exactly. Only for them to somehow agree with me shitting on them, or just ignore me
Please, put some care into ot, I may be a internet person but i'm a person, and no, OT isn't purely a shitpost forum, is a "anything goes" forum, so if me or whatever tries to engage in a conversation or disscussion with you, actually say something about it, and be yourself
if you see a thread that you like, don't call it the best thread on OT, only do so if you REALLY believe that. Please read the threads before posting on it. Please actually care about the community you're trying to be a part of
also yes, i'm aware there are children on OT that act this way because they're children, but I know for a fact that some of the people doing this are like 16
A community isn't just a group of people who are really positibe torwads each other, it's a group of people that care even a little bit about each other, and if you're positive torwards everything and anything, you clearly don't really care that much
