OT: two and a half years in

This is my follow up to this thread I did when I just joined OT (For context I had been half a year on OT at the date of making that thread)

so... how has things changed from that thread?, do I still feel out of the loop?, well the answer is a little bit more complex than that

Turns out, that I felt outside of the loop because there was NO community on OT, I don't have fancy words to say this in, but everyone seem to post for themselves. I have seen people join and leave OT without no one acknowlodging that one person which was active for a year had just stopped posting. Every community project needs to also be extremely simple, because the thought of coordinating with other ot users or doing anything hard is just too much to ask apparently

In fact, just actually talking can be a hard thing in OT, since if someone sees more than 2 paragraphs in a thread they just wont read it. THat's the reason of the warning at the start

I don't think this has changed at all. I dont think OT has a real community. For every drama OT had and whatever, no one has ever seemed to care. My biggest example is the denizen title, something that while now it seems pretty stable, when I joined every other week there was a denizen drama. Everyone was constantly so angry and in disregard with it and whatever

oh denizen is bad, that's why we voted x as president, someone which will not make anything ever, happened this president, happened last president.

Oh, corne is a GMT now and they have responsability for the thread?, let's see the changes they make to it to actually improve this community thing that they had complained in the past

I designed OT!Eras with that idea, a thread to kill all the denizen dramas forever. A thread to prove that OT wasn't more active in the past, one where the system is fair and easy to understand, something that we can really lash into as a community. Whenever I released it, I was dissapointed

AM I IN????????????????
ADD ME TO THE THREAD PLEASE
HOW DOES THE THREAD WORK
OMG I'M IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not many people decided to read the thread and read the small ammount of text explaining it, people only cared if THEY specifically were in.

That thread took like a lot of time to make, and while some people like kobold were really helpful torward it, I do still believe that the general concesus of OT torwards the thread is "ADD ME TO THE THREAD"

Not only that, but after I put so much hours into making that thread, and trying to fix the single biggest recurring drama in OT history, the moment someone makes a thread that is minimally impressive, someone claims it's the greatest thread in OT history, I get you're trying to be positive, but by saying that every time, you're making the threads that came before it seem worse and forgotten.

When I joined OT, I was kinda anxious and whatever, It's the internet yes, but i'm just anxious with people I don't really know in general, I was mostly positive and understanding, didn't post threads very much, and I was trying to be part of the community I thought existed

now, as you can see I have become more aggressive, and I make more threads. My threads often die the moment they're posted. And now recently, people have started making the same threads I used to do, without realizing I had made that exact thread in the past. I just feel forgotten man, when I see someone complain about the state of ot and how they want more of x thread or how x thread is the best thread in OT history I just feel bad.

Is this the reason why I put love into OT?, to just be forgotten?

With rate your OT thread I realized that the threads that are percieved as best are the threads that just mention other users, without requiring those same users to do much as if not the thread would die. You guys want to be part of this "community" without trying to put the effort in to make it feel like one

now, there is a sentence I've been using a lot on OT, and that is, I want more drama, I want more action, I want more chaos. I say it genuinly, you guys are so overly fucking positive that it just feels forced. If every thread is the best, no thread is the best. If everyone agrees blindly with what everyone else says and do, how am I ever going to know your personal opinion?

Because every time I talk about a controversial topic, that I know it's controversial, and i'm talking about it to truly see your guys opinion you mask it, "oh so true I don't really quite agree with this but I see your point of view".

Stop lying, call me out, say how i'm wrong. Don't just ignore my thread, actually post and call me out. I don't care if that makes you seem like a bad person, stop forcing yourself to be positive and actually be yourself.

I've made posts calling out SPECIFIC USERS, even if I didn't call them by name exactly. Only for them to somehow agree with me shitting on them, or just ignore me

Please, put some care into ot, I may be a internet person but i'm a person, and no, OT isn't purely a shitpost forum, is a "anything goes" forum, so if me or whatever tries to engage in a conversation or disscussion with you, actually say something about it, and be yourself

if you see a thread that you like, don't call it the best thread on OT, only do so if you REALLY believe that. Please read the threads before posting on it. Please actually care about the community you're trying to be a part of

also yes, i'm aware there are children on OT that act this way because they're children, but I know for a fact that some of the people doing this are like 16

A community isn't just a group of people who are really positibe torwads each other, it's a group of people that care even a little bit about each other, and if you're positive torwards everything and anything, you clearly don't really care that much

Man, i have read everything from top to bottom and i seem to understand on what you mean. People seem to think at themselves which i kind of noticed aswell. and with that best thread thingy, people can change their opinions on threads and they rather focus on new stuff. thats why people say this and that is the best thread ever and etc....

And honestly i don't rlly want drama to happen. This makes me think that it'll pretty much makes a bad reputation on it and if i get included on it. i try to tone it down as i dont want to feel hated by anyone.

And don't be too hard on yourself. it's just a forum afterall. I was also upset that people don't seem to respond my threads on a long period of time or just straight up ignore them, which made me think im not even important at all. But i got over it because it's not really necessary to be remembered in a ot forum forever (it rlly hurts to say that but thats the truth ig). for example have we ever talked about a particular Gen 1 Denizen? People simply forget stuff because either they don't find it important at oll or they easily forget stuff. the forums is just a little piece on their life.

And yeh. Patatitta ur a cool guy im fuckin serious. Even though i cannont remember all your threads, i still remember you as a guy, that tries his best to fix ot. but you're more than that ngl.

i feel like im just rambling abt random stuff except the compliment lol

That's because what happened weeks or months ago is no longer relevant. The standards of quality are so low and hard to produce that it's a miracle anything of quality does. When someone does make a thread bearing any sort of quality, it gets the praise it rightfully deserves, and that's the minimum I would expect to have someone contribute to be encouraged to contribute more. Otherwise why would they continue trying? The high bars of the past a surely very hard to beat, so the least we can ask is to make our time here somewhat entertaining.

forgotten - that's why I made the OT Chronicles. So much OT history was forgotten even by 5th gen that I had spent months digging that history back up.

seem worse - that's why I made the The Valhalla of OT. Dedicated to the the threads I believe should not be forgotten and never be seen as worse than what comes after

Within 2.5 yr you have the oldest gen leaving (40% of people), the current gen becoming the old gen (30% of people), and new gen coming (30% of people). The subforum theseus ships itself every so often and retains little of it history/memory when it does. It gets stuck in a perpetual cycle if one does not actively maintain and leads it toward some kind of direction.

Brudda just learned the hard truth of this world

I mean, what can I say? Personally I've gotten into forums just because I was bored and I kinda just sticked to them ever since. Generally I haven't really been in any forums so it's a first time thing for me and I may perceive it a bit too seriously

And, the problem with OT, let's face it - you just want to talk and then forget, like a general chat in a discord server with a million members. And the same thing here - OT has no clear defined community, since, first of all, it ain't a big part of osu, just a thing of the past which somehow exists and still is kinda active now

You gotta understand that no matter how much time you'll spend trying to perfect your threads and people saying 'wow' the forums are still kind of a mess. I mean, heck, I created two god damn videos about OT, even though I never created videos on youtube in the first place, maybe trying to impress people, for the lulz, or trying to take a part in this community, yknow, mark my existence here?

I've said it in my slander thread and I'm gonna say it again - Probably every thread here, (not just ot) will inevitably die out since OT is not a place for a serious talk. It's a place where you can just talk, maybe for a few days, or like you - for 2.5 years (oh god), kinda like 4chan in some aspects

If you want a real, connected community, seek it in discord, maybe 'guilds' in some video games, but definitely not here

And so, I'll admit it to you for probably all the people that have seen you post and do your stuff - you'll be just a vague memory in this place called ot. The only real connection you can form with the people here, is, maybe hang out in a vc, maybe even meet-up if that's possible

This ain't my accurate thought of the state the things are, but you kinda get the idea

Should this thread be a place for us to confess? idk

1- By "stop being so positive", I mean give your opinion, i'm not going to hate you to say you disagree, but it's just, every time I open a thread and read the most nonsensical comment i've read I read the replies and they're "SEFUJNLSDF UJOSDFJNOSDFGJKOSDFGJKO SO TRUE BESTIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!", and with that attitude we end up with people claiming that the ot!book is actually good or that pikmin 2 is the hardest videogame ever made, it's not drama, it's just not blindly agreeing with everyone that is said on ot

2- i'm not being hard on myself, i'm shitting on other people (this includes you!), I don't think i've done anything wrong

This is one of my complaints, people acting like they care a lot about OT history and then just ignoring it, just tell to the face you don't care, don't just act like that when you're clearly lying. If you're not sure something is "the best thread ever made", just don't fucking say it, just say "damn what a good thread" you know, it's not difficult to be positive and praise something without shitting on what came before it

People have not read the chronicles, they have barely checked the valhalla, I have tested and proven that threads with more than two paragraphs, people in OT wont read it, the resources for learning of OT exists, but if people just dont care, it doesn't matter if it exists or not. Removing the OT chronicles would have 0 effect on OT.

My point is that people in OT don't care about anything, people make threads but people don't really read them. Someone puts effort, get's praised a bit at the moment for them to instantly be forgotten a week later, making the praise that the next week's thread recieve actually feel bad to you. We're talking WEEKS here

you can just post and then forget, that is not the problem, the problem is just not caring about anyone else but yourself, and then just acting like you really care, that is not ignorance, it's just being dishonest

There are times, like now, where I honestly don't even know what to say. I wanted at first to comment how your view on wanting to see more drama doesn't equate to a strong community. I then wanted to go on about there's nothing bonding us at all, so what community is there between people that nothing holds? For both of these replies, I completely scrapped them because honestly I feel like I will make a lot of bad points, with nothing of substance, and end up looking badly, something that does actually effect me, as bad it probably is.

I have been around this place for some time now. I have taken breaks from it, as an effort to remove something that caused me stress and emotional pain, honestly. Around 2021, if you go and read my replies from back then, you would see constant pitying that I wasn't being noticed by anyone, in particular individuals I saw as "cool" like Penguin, Tad or abraker and because I wasn't making "good threads". Around 2018, I left because I said stupid bullshit that made ultimately me rethink how and what I share with individuals online and IRL as well after sharing some things I probably shouldn't have. Nowadays, I regret saying the mean things I have said before to others here, things I said during times I was feeling bad. It's a me issue, completely, because believe it or not I don't want to seem dumb or stupid. It's not fun looking like an idiot and someone else coming up and saying why you're.

I only comment and share my opinions on things I have some familiarity to, because a) I probably know what I'm talking about and b) I can learn something new if I don't. Constantly spewing uninformed opinions is not exactly something I want to do. A lot of the times, what someone is doing here that I disagree (take Anaxii's farm posting as an example) is also extremely trivial and unimportant in the grand scheme of things. I honestly just come here because I want to chill and talk with people, connect in some way with them and just share something I find interesting. I don't want at all to argue my positions on everything under the sun because there really isn't anything to it most of the time and my interest is only in limited things.

I hope what I wrote here has what you want from people here.

Constant drama doesn't mean that the community is strong, my point is, we should ALLOW the drama to happen, everyone in OT is so fucking scared to saying a opinion that is contrary to the rest unless if it's about waifus for some weird reason. That is my point, not that I want everyone in OT to hate each other, but that I don't want people to blindly agree, rain praises to the first person that makes a thread with AI and whatever not, if you're posting, I want to know that what you're saying is true to you

it only seems like people dont voice their full opinion because they are prob more likely to just not post if they disagree, which is what i do a lot of the time
its not that the opinions being portrayed are fake, just that the people who disagree prob dont wanna waste time on something trivial if they ever have to defend why they disagree

(also the ai thing is understandable, imo the hate for ai is vastly overblown and the majority dont care anyway)

Tbh, i gotta agree with this. As someone who has trouble making friends sometimes, i feel like OT is a safe place for me to share my opinion and talk with other people.

I definitely have to agree, yes. I believe that OT is not only a shitpost forum, but it has the potential to have a strong community for itself. I've always wanted to try something here in OT, but seeing people being kinda aggressive makes me quite scared. As someone who's probably younger than most of yall (when i mean young, i mean like a literal child), i feel like being a spectator is more comfortable, at least for me. Though, i do wish that in the future, OT can have a strong community and we're able to care more for each other's feelings and not ourselves. If only that society in general can be nicer and not judge us for the way we are, i guess.

Though, i do wanna say that there are definitely some annoying people. They're pretty much unavoidable, but my best advice is just to leave them alone. Though if they do take it too far, i guess its better to give them advice and just see if they change their behavior or not. I'm pretty sure people here are probably mature enough to rely on experience and fix their old mistakes, but it also differs from people to people.

Either way, i also wanna apologize as well if i have done something wrong here or just be straight up annoying. I can't use my age as an excuse all the time, as i have to also learn from my past mistakes as well. I hope one day that i have the courage to do something here in OT. Again, im sorry if i have made anyone feel irritated or not having the courage to change things as of now.

Tbh, i gotta agree with this. As someone who has trouble making friends sometimes, i feel like OT is a safe place for me to share my opinion and talk with other people.

Please, put some care into ot, I may be a internet person but i'm a person, and no, OT isn't purely a shitpost forum, is a "anything goes" forum, so if me or whatever tries to engage in a conversation or disscussion with you, actually say something about it, and be yourself

And the same thing here - OT has no clear defined community, since, first of all, it ain't a big part of osu, just a thing of the past which somehow exists and still is kinda active now
My point is that people in OT don't care about anything, people make threads but people don't really read them.

You know, I can't really comfort you since that is none of mah business and I'm not an expert, but I'm just gonna say - don't take anything here too seriously. I almost made that mistake and if I did, I don't know if I actually wanted to post here anymore. Sure, I admire your dedication to just REVOLUTIONIZE EVERYTHING AND BE A HERO but osu forums is just a place to talk, not really your 'rebel against the system' story. And. it. will. be. this. way. Soo... yeah, my advice is to continue talking here if you like it, and the time you'd spend perfecting your thread - spend it in real life, build your future ig. If you think you have an interesting topic to talk about - make an ordinary thread and not a 400 hour bbcode megaproject that will probably be not worth the feedback. And if people don't wanna reply - then F**K EM LOSERS and talk with somebody else about it

Hope this helps

I remember doing the denizen drama and I have a strong feeling that because of me it started(?). According to my assumptions I am the one to blame for the denizen drama. Because of my first introduction to OT that drama started. I still do feel sorry about it and now that you mention it, I am in deep regret for doing that. I know that my first appearance was too childlike and shitty. But I am trying to improve myself. And I also apologise for not reading the thread before posting. I can understand what you're trying to say Patatitta. I don't create any threads now but am still active here. It's understandable how you feel about OT now. It truly is.

I've found some great friends through OT though and I am grateful for that. And will forever be. So yeah.

like i said, annoying people will exist. and i know its irritating, but the best thing you can do is just to leave them alone. im not gonna lie, i have seen many people in the internet who are just straight up annoying and all they do is just talk about nonsense shit that is probably not even related to the main topic, or worse, giving them a first impression as a weirdo. But you do you - if you like drama then start one, if you prefer to be calm and not get involved in unnecessary arguments then do so. I don't wanna interfere with one's preference, as everyone has their own way of treating things. Whether they're annoying or not, in the end, all of us are humans behind our online profile. Every human deserves respect, even if they're a menace to society. We all have feelings, and none of us want our feelings to be broken. So, i always to try my best to treat evil with kindess, or just leave them alone. I've learned from my past mistakes, as i do like to get involved in unnecessary drama back then. It's tiring for me, but if you still want drama, then i can't do anything even if i've warned you.

Well of course I'm gonna get scared if I see all the details of this thread alone.

I've noticed that you have started to write a lot more about your own opinions.

I feel like you turned yourself into an absolute extreme whenever you want to analyze something...

And from what I have noticed is that during the past months of mine I was also writing noticeably more than I should, because I mostly felt pretty depressed and I also have had my mood swings during the darker era of my life.

During the darker era of my life, I was worrying about basically EVERYTHING!

In your case it's probably a case similar to mine too, thinking or worrying about the negatives too much.

It's like a lose-lose emotion, You're losing control of your whole emotions AND you lose us.

How I managed to worry less about stuff that I worry is, because I have (almost) stopped watching these long documentaries in YouTube.

These documentaries may be useful, but most of the documentaries especially recently (Yes I know recently, duh. -_-)
tend to give users like me negative emotions and with the YouTube algorithm wanting you to watch more of these, you can easily fall for that negative bait, falling down into the Shadow Realm.

How I have stopped watching these long documentaries is, because the thumbnails suck, honestly, it's just some negative text in like font 222 with some kind of sad picture or something as the thumbnail background, it's honestly kind of pathetic lmao.

Sometimes when you just are so tired of seeing it, eventually there is that you in your mind, wanting to do something completely else that could completely change the direction you are going for.

And I think I'm getting super Off-Topic about this...

Why am I still writing this...?

Oh welllllllllllllllll................. ._.

You know, some of us isn't here to see people fighting each other, but just chilling, and not be serious, and tbh, I like it when it's chill and everyone can have fun together. Why you would set this place on fire? Seeiously, what are you looking for? Honestly at the end if OT is just a real fire hole, everyone would leave in frustration, and at the end, nobody will be happy.

considering how toxic people can be, i wouldn't be surprised as i also do so quite often myself. Society always has a way of judging other people all the time, and its scary. I'd prefer not to speak my disagreement towards an argument that won't impact my life personally than having a complete mental breakdown.

I tend to be nice and avoid drama because there's already enough shit IRL I just come here to chill and have fun.
I've only seen you actually shit on people who deserved it so I tend to either not reply or just agree because as you say I'm too much of a coward to actually call people out when they're annoying.
Also I just find it funny when you're aggressive. :D

If you want some though here you go:
As thread ratings have shown Scyla's threads are always shit (I haven't even opened them for months).
Reyalp is retarded.
Anaxii's post farming/useless messages everywhere (even OT) is annoying af to the point I don't even check threads when I see all the last posts are from them. Few days ago I saw one of their post that was so foul I physically gasped.
Winnyace uses slurs for no reason and gets angry way too easily, it's funny and sad at the same time.

Pretty much everyone else is cool though and don't do anything annoying on a regular enough basis that I can even remember it. At worst their posts are just forgettable.

Also making things people care about (like the song contest I made, aka my only good thread) takes time and effort and no one wants to (or can) put it.
