I think we're just doomed at this point.

mars is as calm as the moon, i think it's likely we can at least go this far

I’ll be selling Fried Mars Bars on Mars

We can probably go to mars, colonizing is a more interesting question though.

Technically we could send humans there, sending them alive is much harder.
Even if they're still alive when they land they wouldn't last long.

nah it will be nuclear war and the end of the human race BEFORE we reach Mars

Yeah, especially with other problems like political corruption, world hunger, climate change, pollution, unemployment, poverty, terrorism, human trafficking, and other problems the world has that I couldn't think of

The world is still pretty much the most peaceful and plentiful its been in the history of human civilization though. Stuff is improving as long as people don't just give up. all of those things, apart from climate change, have been with us since the beginning.
not saying to ignore that bad stuff is happening of course, but saying we're doomed is ignoring the work a lot of people are putting in. remember that people tend to talk about the bad things, and ignore when good stuff happens.

Robots can colonise if not humans.

I think people should also take few steps for green future, like using electric vehicle, installing solar panel in there houses etc

Imo government should ban personal vehicle and build electric bus so people can travel from one place to another. for place which buses cant reach can be solve by creating company like uber(which use electric vehicle), or maybe can rent vehicle

Everyone thinks so, but to do is not as easy as to say it.

Its not that hard, my family is middle class and we are still implementing those things because it maybe expensive at start but in long term it is way cheaper, like electric vehicle for example.

I haven’t tried looking at it that way. I do make an effort to do the small things and benefit humanity but I didn’t really see a point to it. It just felt like pointless attempts to save ourselves and the world we live in.

Thanks for telling me this. I’ll try to be positive and change my outlook on these kinds of things, since I often dwell on the worst aspects of living.

Colonizing mars is an impossible feat, not being pessimistic or anything but "melting the ice caps using nuclear devices", "planting a lot of trees" and "releasing oxygen and Freon into the atmosphere" is harder than it sounds

They are fixing the problems but it not gonna happen overnight, not in over decade.
Earth is not a safe place to be depend on, who knows in few decades a meteoroid showed up which gonna hit the earth. Will you still be worried about climate change and other problems? There are communities who thinks human should just perished because how much harm it did in past decades but We should be positive and start fixing problems.

Its hard, very very very hard but not impossible. Human accomplished a lot of things which sound unreal. Imagine if you are in 1800 and someone tell you about a device which is same size of your hand and you can talk with someone else who is other side of the world. Its sound impossible.

Yeah "melting the ice caps using nuclear devices", "planting a lot of trees" and "releasing oxygen and Freon into the atmosphere" sounds easy and are harder to implement but that doesnt mean these are the only solution, We can be living a in a station for a while and found how to create water and food on mars, its is hard but not impossible.

The Martian is a good movie, you should watch

Making a planet habitable is impossible goal as for now technology thought in few decades we will find a way to make it habitable.

And also thats why I think moon should be the first goal

the moon wouldn't do too well since the gravity is only a third of what's on earth

yeah but it will give a basic idea on how the mission should be accomplished on mars.

India is still messed up, you'll have to be lucky to be born in the more fortunate parts of the country. Otherwise, most of the rural areas are just basic.

Also, take into mind that there are people who still hold conservative outdated views on someone's background based on the concept of ‘caste’, it's a system that determines someone's level in a society(this is prevalent in central India). I'm fortunate caste doesn't exist in my society.

Ok so for people who are saying "lets fix shit on Earth before we try Mars", the thing is that it's EXTREMELY beneficial to colonize Mars before we wreck Earth. That's because the more inhospitable Earth becomes, the more similar problems between Earth and Mars become.

Figuring out how to keep our planet from becoming inhospitable parallels any terraforming project you'd need to perform to make Mars hospitable. In turn, figuring out how to live on Mars parallels any survivability technology you'd need to develop to make living on inhospitable Earth possible.
