Your map should be finished, also hitsounding and a full set are preferred.

general advice
For starting out I suggest mapping 1-2 minutes for your maps where you can focus on implementing ideas and concepts and being consistent because that is a lot harder to execute for a 5+ minute map and also very often not worth it plus it is easier for modders to give feedback on shorter maps
The more work you put into something the more you get attached to it and that is what keeps you from improving. Be critical and question the mods you receive but more importantly question your own mapping choices and please don't hide behind a wall of excuses.
