It works great and all, but my only issue is when I try to use osu! direct for beatmaps on the website, it pops up with this message: https://ibb.co/gZ5Nssf (i hope this link works, idk any good file uploaders ;-;)
It's not possible to use osu!direct from the website using the Wineskin. The best option would be to either download the beatmap manually and have osu!macOS Agent drag it into for you automatically or to use osu!direct in-game.Fzyy wrote:

That means osu! has successfully updatedalthough the update was successful, the loading bar doesn't finish exactly but that's a quirk Technocoder might like to fix in the next release.
(I swear I'm going to remove the Discord Rich Presence from the Rosetta Wineskin in the next release)

The best way to solve freezes in the game is to try and fiddle with your in-game graphics settings. (Don't enable Compatibility Mode though or this will crash your game). Otherwise, I think someone else said above that game performance improved with changing affinity - community/forums/posts/8162613 - therefore, you could try changing priority/affinity of osu! in Task Manager as you would do on WindowsChange priority/affinityLet us know how it goes. Of course, simple things like closing background applications and making sure you're running it on a decent computer will make the game run smootherWhile osu! is running
1. Right click osu! > Show Package Contents
2. Click Wineskin > Advanced > Tools > Task Manager (taskmgr)
3. Find osu!.exe in the list that appears, then set priority and affinity as desired - see https://superuser.com/a/181947 for info on what this actually means
Thank you for recommending me this, my priority is already at the second highest and i dont think putting it the highest would be a good idea. I will try to find a way to make my graphics lower. Currently , i still experience occasional freezes

I download them, I have OSU!macAgent open with auto move on but all maps ive tried say they are corrupt or incomplete. I've tried opening the Drive_C and dropping the .osz into the songs folders, but that doesn't work either.

After attempting to import a beatmap (and failing), close osu! and:
1. Access the Package Contents of your Wineskin by right clicking on osu!.app and selecting Show Package Contents.
2. Navigate to drive_c/osu!/Logs
3. Upload logs to a never-expire pastebin such as https://paste.ubuntu.com or https://bpa.st (bpa.st supports multiple files) and link it here. Particularly, we're interested in runtime.log.

It has been doing this every time and when I try to open osu! it says im missing files or that certain files couldn't be found. I have no idea what to do but I have been trying to troubleshoot many different downloads of the osu app. But no luck, it does the same thing. I have been downloading the rosetta wineskin and I own the MacBook Pro with M1 chip if that helps with anything.
I tried using the intel wineskin, it repairs fine and other times it crashes again, but when I try to open the osu app, it gives multiple warnings saying im missing files or that it couldn't move files. During other tries, it opens the osu updating client, updates and then closes. When i open the osu app again, it just opens wineskin.

When trying to open osu, a black box appears on the top corner (sorry don't have technical terms lol) and then it'll close quickly before I can read what it says.
I have also tried to do a test on the Wineskin, which for both versions, it'll just crash instantly and I have to force close it as it won't progress - so I can't even get the crash log.
I'm sure there's something simple I've missed as I have seen that others are having the black box pop up. Help would be appreciated, thanks!

I would firstly go ahead and do a clean reinstall (making a backup of your original game data first and transferring game data - https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/welcome/transfer.html) of both the Rosetta and Intel Wineskins. Make sure there isn't anything interfering with it (checking the Resolution steps here: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/wineskin.html#resolution).
If that still doesn't work, I doubt this will help but could you make a Test Run log. Ideally, you'd make a Test Run without importing a beatmap at the beginning, then do another Test Run with an attempted import of a a beatmap.

Yea, I'm not really too sure what could be causing. You may need to double click a few times, or change the affinity in Task Manager (community/forums/posts/8171838) which could iron out any CPU issues. Lastly, have you tried the Intel Wineskin? (Assuming you're on M1)
But if the osu! logo appears, that means the game is able to start. Just having issues running, or the updater is failing somewhere.

If you're still experiencing issues, please perform a Wineskin Test Run - instructions at https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-logs-for-wineskin or pasted below:Test RunGenerating a Test Run through WineskinIf you need any help with any of the steps outlined here, check out https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html or feel free to make a reply back here on the forum. - Locate your osu! installation.
- Right click on it, then select Show Package Contents.
- Open Wineskin.
- Click Advanced.
- Click Test Run. If osu! starts successfully (even with glitches), you can then close the program down. Once the program has either closed or crashed, a dialog will pop up asking you whether you want to view Test Run Logs. Click Yes.
- Copy the results of your Test Run logs to a pastebin such as paste.ubuntu.com set to never expire. Then attach the link in a reply to this thread, along with the report from osu!macOS Agent in Step 1.
Test run: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/yZ2cKcm82s/
macOS agent report: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/pdsjQP8xPD/
Wait, the osu! logo appears? And that means there would be no cmd output immediately like I was hoping for. No immediately fixable things in the Test Run that I can see. However, the last line of output returns a full-on "deadbeef" kernel crash.0035:fixme:ntdll:EtwEventUnregister (deadbeef) stub.
I get deadbeef error codes on my runs though (4 to be precise) so I'm still not sure whether it's related to your issue.
I couldn't change the affinity in Task Manager, because that list doesn't appear. I think it is because my osu isn't able to run...?
So Intel Wineskin lets you get at least to the updater. Maybe it could be something wrong with the update? Could you check your update.log file and see if there's anything important there? I also wonder whether a Test Run with the Intel Wineskin might bring something different. That might be worth running again just to see if anything different pops up.
Can you try updating through osu!macOS Agent (Other tab) and also update dotnet? https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/dotnet.html#updating-dotnet

That narrows it down a little bit... at least we can see osu! is attempting to start but then dying on that graphics menu. I'm surprised that both the Intel and Rosetta Wineskins fail for you at what appears to be a low-level issue.
I'm going to try and see if I can get you to do a winedbg log which is about as deep down as you can get. But it's a bit of a pain in the butt to get working so I might need a bit more time to work on it. I'm hoping someone else has better ideas than me because I'm really not sure what's going on here - I haven't seen an issue where both Wineskins fail with no useful output. Would there be potentially any interfering programs you have on your computer? (Also what are your system specs?)
Anyway, I'll get back to you asap with instructions for a winedbg if I can figure it out. It wouldn't hurt to try reinstalling both and just making sure that there isn't anything affecting it.

Anyway, on a side note with some research I suspect there's a race condition affecting the (particularly older Wineskins) which might explain the earlier inconsistency in startups but I think the problem's disappeared for now with the newer Wineskins. I don't think it's as big of a problem anymore but for future reference, it could be a race condition somewhere.soft03What issue are you having exactly? Can you send a video?soft03 wrote:

Also a PSA for anyone who's trying to run osu! on Monterey (I think there was one person who mentioned it) - Wineskin isn't supported on it - more info here: https://github.com/Gcenx/WineskinServer/issues/139 - in this case no choice but to wait for a fix upstream from Gcenx, CodeWeavers and Apple.

Can you try updating through osu!macOS Agent (Other tab) and also update dotnet? https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/dotnet.html#updating-dotnet
update_success.log: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/KXGd3Y2YCH/
and I got this when I open osu after running the dotnet452 update

It doesn't really matter the location of the file, but that's the default on all new Wineskins.rabbitdragonbmI'm still looking into winedbg but I'll try and catch up with that tomorrow. Ah, it's two separate commands. Not sure why I structured like that, so I'll just give you one command that you can write in one line
Try running this:start ../../osu!/osu!
And screenshot the output here. You can put images in a bbcode box ([box]) so they don't take up too much space on the forum as well
If you're still experiencing issues, please perform a Wineskin Test Run - instructions at https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-logs-for-wineskin or pasted below:Test RunGenerating a Test Run through WineskinIf you need any help with any of the steps outlined here, check out https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html or feel free to make a reply back here on the forum.

The filename including extension is execute.bat - it is a Windows batch file.
If it doesn't exist already you can create it with TextEdit. Just make sure you save it as a .bat file.

If you're coming from Windows then, yes, the input delay is pretty significant. Make sure that you're also using the US keyboard layout (just in case) as I know someone else had severe input lag with a different layout.Ultradespairgir wrote:

the polling rate issue seemed to be fixed just by using 500Hz, however for some reason after updating from mojave 10.14.5 to 10.14.6 the game runs fine for about 3 seconds mouse movement and everything, but after that time passes moving the mouse scalates the delay by 56ms and a stable 17ms when playing (with the reduce frame drops option on), i decided to install catalina to see if that fixes it but it didnt change much, ill try reinstalling osu and see if something happens
(update) To make it more clear, i decided to test this issue with Katana ZERO wich uses a lot of mouse movement at first in mojave 10.14.6 it was notably laggy when i moved my mouse most of the time, but as i updgraded to catalina Katana ZERO seems to run just fine, so to continue the previous issue; Osu seems to be the only game affected by this lag altough im not sure what the issue is, no GPU or RAM heavy task is runing in the background while osu is running, i tried with polling rate of 1000hz, 500hz, 250hz and 125. Discord wich has shown to slow down the game is not open, my FAN is at its fastest speed, take in mind non of this issues happened while i had mac os mojave 10.14.5 and my graphics card and proccesor are able to handle games of similar weigth to osu with stable frames, Closed G hub to see if that was the problem but nothing happened, i put the "MyPCSucks = 1" slightly better but unplayable for the most part, i tried reinstalling but it seems the game still percists in giving me a hard time

Graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 5000 (integrated)
RAM: 4GB 1600MHz DDR3
Proccesor: 1.3GHz Intel Core i5 (2 cores)
MAC OS: 10.15.7
thats all in the "About My Mac" section, ill try to update in the "Intel Wrapper" do take in mind that this text was written as i discovered this miraculous perfomance,so uhh yeah this might change pretty drastically, got to add that i also tested this with CSGO, its runs horrible at times but the perfomance is exactly the same as previous versions, nothing changed at all, Polling rate included and to answer the "Katana ZERO" question yes i did run it natively.
Also ill try to run a test in the 4 different polling rates as soon as i manage to stabilize Osu´s perfomance
small update: nvm what i just previously wrote, the game in rossetas wineskin runs well enough altough the frames go from 200 to 90 from time to time, MS are fine until a few seconds into the song it starts to go from 5.2ms to 8-10ms
intel Wineskin update: its pretty odd tbh but the game runs fine mouse movement and all up until a few seconds of the app being opened, for the first 4 seconds its the same fluid movement but up until 7-10 seconds it starts getting 14ms, altough the fps drops seem to have fixed themselves, whats even MORE odd is how the MS seem to stabilize to 5MS when i change the polling rate mid game, but after 2 seconds it jumps to 15ms automatically with no other number in between ever appearing as if the game just realized or something, also skins just make the MS even worse as well as the FPS too
SPM37 wrote:
Dont get me wrong the game is very annoying to use even at 125hz so i doubt i will be playing osu for a while, however considering that this all started since i installed macOS Mojave`s 10.14.6 security update wich has shown to make games run horribly, then id say ill have to format the Mac and if i happen to see a perfomance boost in between MacOS mojave 10.14.0 - 10.14.5 then ill come back and report on that as well, polling rate seems fine from 500Hz to 125HZ to clarify, before i updated to the security update it was smoothly running at 120FPS and 5.3MS occasionally spiking at 6.0ms but nothing major, its seems weird to me that this specific security update is so detrimental for games so for now if anybody reading this is considering doing that small security update id say it would be better to either leave it like it is or just update to Catalina straigth away, also thank you for the responses. Also my Mac is from 2013, so maybe catalina has some problems with that altough i wouldnt be able to tell, forgot to add but Turning on Raw Input seems to make both input lag and Fps lag more notorious

i have replicated this issue 2 times this one included, i remember formating my mac back to mountain lion before because of this, i even remember slowly updating my way from Mojave 10.14.1 to 10.14.15 since i was curious wich update ruined the games perfomance, eventually i stoped at 10.14.5 as time passed i guess i forgot about it and since i already started to download the update i had no option but to download it mostly because it was making up space in my hard drive, and sure enough the issue happened again, by this im pretty sure it does affect something since i was playing fine before updating, i can back this up by the fact that the update only took about 15-30 mins and after the restart the issue started happening and it seems odd that my pc just started to malfunction in a 15-30 min timespan, aditionally other games started to malfunction as well with the exception of CSGO wich i tested after updating to catalina, altough if this issue only affects wine then i would have to test it with different games, GTA San andreas comes to mind since i do remember it being laggy at some point altough i dont remember the update in wich this happened so i cant really back this up,
ive done every trick in the book to run osu at its best perfomance but i didnt get any satisfying results
also the game itself runs somewhat laggy by default so to run it at a better perfomance i usually just go to osu! files and go to osu."yourMacOsUsername".cfg and look for "MyPCSucks = 0" then change it to 1, in almost every wrapper of osu of this projects life span i have tried it seems to do the job just fine, only with this issue has this not worked, ive also tried and incredibly low end skin but still getting lag and input lag spikes and bad input lag overall as well
well is gonna be a pain re downloading everything in my pc thats for sure,
also TETR.io`s desktop app seems to work fine as well, i added this since the game seems to have similar hardware requirements to osu but aside from that nothing really important

Hello, I seem to be facing the [SilentCrash](https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/advanced/silentcrash.html) bug. TLDR, I open the osu in any method, nothing shows up (no wine no terminal nothing, no wine processes in activity monitor). I used osu debug agent for troubleshoot-repair, nothing is wrong.
Reinstalling solved the problem tho, which unfortunately I did before reading your docs. I will help debug it if the problem appears again (which it will from my experience).

Settings icons don't work, that's correct. If they're important to you, you can enable them using the steps in the original thread, but this will break CJK icons in the process.

Firstly, I think you should try out the Rosetta Wineskin since it's much newer. Secondly, could you try updating through osu!macOS Agent (Other > Update). If that fails, could you make a Test Run for when the application doesn't open, and link the contents here (you can use a pastebin like paste.gg)Test Run stepshttps://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#step-3-generating-a-test-run-through-wineskin
Click Yes.
- Copy the results of your Test Run logs to a pastebin such as paste.gg set to never expire. Then attach the link in a reply to this thread, along with the report from osu!macOS Agent in Step 1.

If you think it's an osu! version update, could you try:steps
- Making a duplicate of your osu wrapper (backups are important since the version you're about to test out doesn't support score submission)
- Downloading b20210520.2 from https://osekai.net/snapshots/?version=80
- On your duplicated copy, right click > Show Package Contents > drive_c > osu!
- Replace osu!.exe with the new version from osekai
- Close Finder, then start the wrapper
- When the update dialog appears, quickly close it to prevent it from updating (or if you're slow, disable your internet connection)
- See whether osu! runs better or not, and run a Test Run
Usually I'm sorta sceptical whenever an issue is attributed to any form of update (OS, executable, etc.), since those regressions are usually quite rare, and usually we would know about any breaking changes (especially OS level ones). But I don't think you're the first user to report an issue with osu! bludging recently on updates, and I haven't had anyone to check whether the issue is in fact isolated to the osu! executable.
In any case, the onus is on us to ensure that our wrapper works with executables, even if they introduce breaking changes, but first I'd like to see if this is in fact caused by a recent osu! update. I doubt it is though.
The Test Run on both your standard install and the older install will also be very useful

The Test Run on both your standard install and the older install will also be very useful
edit: I know I can reinstall Osu! again and get the older version but I find it quite troublesome and kind of a hassle, if I get more time this week I'll definitely try to reinstall Osu!

Does osu! still show immense lag on the Halloween update?
Your test run doesn't give me any obvious graphics issues or any runaway processes that would be overloading your computer. If there's an executable-related issue, try changing your osu! version to the last known working version. If you can replicate the same wrapper working with one osu! version, then breaking on another, then we can follow up about that.
If it's not an executable-related issue, then likely there's a misconfiguration with the Wineskin wrapper or your computer. Try adjusting CPU affinity/priority within Wine's task manager.Change priority/affinityWhile osu! is running
1. Right click osu! > Show Package Contents
2. Click Wineskin > Advanced > Tools > Task Manager (taskmgr)
3. Find osu!.exe in the list that appears, then set priority and affinity as desired - see https://superuser.com/a/181947 for info on what this actually means
You can experiment with single-core and multi-core. I've been unable to reproduce your issue, so it's good if you try on your system.
If there was anything you changed/re-installed (both in terms of hardware and software) on your Mac which may correlate with osu! not working, then you should let us know as well.
Firstly, unless the Rosetta version doesn't work, I'd recommend running that version, as you are currently running the slightly-older Intel version. It works for all macOS versions and on both Intel and Apple Silicon based computers.
To fix the error you encountered:
1. Open osu!macOS Agent
2. Click the Troubleshoot tab
3. Click Scan
4. Once the scan is complete, click Repair
If that fails, run the following Terminal commandsudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine "~/path/to/my/osu\!.app"
where ~/path/to/my/osu\!.app is the filepath to your osu! install.

Settings icons don't work, that's correct. If they're important to you, you can enable them using the steps in the original thread, but this will break CJK icons in the process.
Could you try running a Test Run while recreating the steps that you take, including when the beatmap background shows up as black.Test Run stepsStep 3: Generating a Test Run through WineskinMore info: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-logs-for-wineskin
What are your computer specs as well?
P.S. I don't have any problems running Osu! before the update, after the update it's just plain laggy and sometimes freezes I swear it's not because of my potato PC.
The Test Run on both your standard install and the older install will also be very useful
edit: I know I can reinstall Osu! again and get the older version but I find it quite troublesome and kind of a hassle, if I get more time this week I'll definitely try to reinstall Osu!
Does osu! still show immense lag on the Halloween update?
If that fails, run the following Terminal commandsudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine "~/path/to/my/osu\!.app"
where ~/path/to/my/osu\!.app is the filepath to your osu! install.
More info: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/install/silicon.html#step-2-repair-the-wineskin
Now to move on to the whole priority/affinity thing. I set the Priority to Realtime, and I selected all CPU cores (CPU 0-3). https://imgur.com/a/nSVx7Fh
Did the game stop lagging after the Halloween update, or after you changed your priority/affinity?
