because text is often faster in other languages. so it saves time.

edit: sometimes the non-localized version also has more bugs, which can also be used to save time

Games there the dialogue in another language is much shorter in order to reduce time loss. Example, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, typically has its fastest runs in German since the dialogue goes much faster.

Dialogs are faster/shorter in other languages than English (japanese for exemple)

AFAIK, the nintendo iQue has faster loading times than the nintendo 64, so playing the chinese version is more efficient.

Man that first question is actually impossible, wayback machine seems to have only visited this site around nov. 2017 - though I wasnt too thorough on that, almost every map that seems like you would've shot a star on based on your mod has a credits where they list modders, stars, and bat / bn's that you aren't on.

ill try anyway though... community/forums/topics/181410?start=3417962 you didn't mod this map, maybe they forgot to add you to the credits, and you did shoot a star?

also, togepi was the first pokemon egg to appear in the games.

abraker, as long as a question is active people are free to guess at it. I don't mind if it is 6 months old, if people want to guess, I will let them guess. All I want is to make sure I know what you are asking for.

That being said, that is not a map I did shoot a kudos at. I do need to talk to that mapper again though :(

Oh, I see the confusion. I said that was correct to my first beatmap, not the beatmap I shot a kudos at, hence why that is still a question. I should actually start saying what it is a correct answer to x.x

jack 'o lantern used to mean jack (a person) with a lanterns (so a nighttime watchman). the tradition of decorating them originates from Ireland and they orignally used potatoes and turnips

the country you're from is the US, but assuming you're talking about ancestry, my guess is Ireland based on the way you speak and the types of questions you're asking. but ethnicities are socially constructed anyway soooo

Why does everyone think my name is from fairy tale, lol. I have never seen that anime and I have actually actively avoided it because everyone says my name is from it x.x

though not fully what I was looking for, it still answers the origin of halloween so you get 3 points Jonarwhal. Wither did give the other part of the answer I was looking for so they get 3 points as well.

Jonar, you are correct on the jack o lanturns and my country. the other first pokemon you listed are not what the question is looking for. if you want hints, look at what ones have been accepted and go off of that.

My name is not a reference to runescape. Actually had this name before I knew about that game, though I wouldn't mind what reference you are referring to.

I do see you eblf, I will redeem that in a second. Busy doing a lot of other things.

Though I like that game, that is not the reason why I chose to map 1000 words as my first song.

Suptag is done. I know I do have two pending points to look at. Iirc, one is for eblf and one is for Zel regarding the Peppy meme thing. For the one that has WIPs on the Loved map, I need to see if the diff is actually Loved (leaderboards) or not. The other one I do need to listen to and decide. I have not forgotten about you guys, just other things have gotten to me so I have not been able to check those two.

Wither, I honestly did not know that these existed. Thanks for the gold. Though this is nowhere in the area I was asking for, I will still give you a point. Also that post gave me other ideas as to what to do down the road.


Also, new thing to throw points at. Charities/gofundme/etc. Let me know how you guys feel about this, what would be a good point/USD to donate and anything else you can think of.

Astrid, I am looking to see if you guys can find the reason why I myself joined. It is something I have said over the years.

It was sorta for fun, but fun is not the reason why I do map though. Each map I have made has a reasoning behind it.


zOz, it wasn't really random searches of how I found this game.

Here's a guess.

I guess why you made the map becuase yes, it's a tribute for somebody in the game. So, here it is.

You already know that Shuyin and Lenne are in a relationship. Shuyin is just a memory of Tidus, in order to exist since Zanarkand was destroyed by Sin, by Yu Yevon's thing. You know Tidus is also in love with Yuna, which made a bit of a misunderstanding by losing Tidus and bringing him back, eh nvm, they still together. So getting back to Shuyin and Lenne. Shuyin died and he didn't hear Lenne who declare her love for him, which is a sad death. Then Lenne died by the Bevelle guards. They died together.

Pretty sad tbh. I forgot what happened to Yuna omg

Soooo yes, you made the map in tribute for Shuyin and Lenne..?

This is a shot in the dark, but iirc you're a final fantasy fan. This song is from Final Fantasy X-2 for the playstation 2(?). It would be natural for you to map a song from a game you enjoy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adagio_(Sweetbox_album)

There might be more zOz. There are literally hundreds of thousands of ranked/loved beatmaps out there. I doubt I have personally played 5k of them. There is also at least one more that I know of regarding the Peppy songs as well that has not been listed.

And nope, did not find osu from scrolling through a list of games.

You are free to try more if you want to Astrid. I don't mind.

nitroz, that is one of the songs I was looking at. Imagine making the playerbase play your song for an achievement, not because it is good or they enjoy the song itself though I actually do like the song :P

zOz, those three were never mascots of the game nor even talked about being mascots of the franchise as far as I know. They were just chosen to be the cover of gen 1 cartridges.

But I will be up for a while, probably won't add another question for a bit though so I will be checking occasionally. I do sorta want to hear feedback about the donation to charity prize I do want to implement (brought up by someone playing).

Do you have any idea what would be a good rate of exchange for it axl? Like how many points to USD (I live in USA so I go with my currency x.x)?

Also, people can still try to answer questions, just am trying to flesh out another prize for you guys as people guess.

honestly, it's up to you since you're the one that's actually going to pay for the charity. 4 points per USD like your other prizes is perfectly fine, though.

Alright. I know that there are thousands of charities in and of themselves. I am still debating on if I should just say "hey, pick between these charities to donate" or letting you guys find the charity to donate to though.
