Hello, since the Yosemite update Osu has been capped to 60FPS and the cursor is like laggy. However, sometimes, at the start of Osu, it does start at 120FPS which is the value I chosed, but after like 20 seconds, it goes back to 60FPS with the "laggy" cursor. I'm pretty sure the problem is from Yosemite because it's since this update that I got the problem, for info I'm playing on a Macbook pro 15" Retina from late 2013 with Intel Iris Pro Graphics

Have any of you experienced the same problem?

Thanks
try this

right click osu application found in finder.
click open package contents.
click on wineskin.
click on "advanced" option
click on "tools" option
click on "update wrapper"
once thats done click on "Test Run".
Thanks for the answer, my wrapper was already updated so there was no new update, however I did some research and found that the same problem also occurred on CS:GO, and probably more other games. I guess we'll just have to wait for a fix from Apple since a downgrade isn't possible

I have a Mac Boock pro Retina 13¨ end 2013 top of line (i7 2,8 GHz, 500G SSD PCI, (8G DDR3 1600 MHz), and with a wacom into pend an touch, and the game is imposible to play, is full of lag. But in a iMac medium size early 2009 or 2008 (i5 or i3, 8G kingston DDR3, 350 G HDD), i not remember now, it work perfect, and with the same wacom, but with old osu.

Edit:
ok, i try in a hackinthos with a i7-5960X 3,5 GHz, HyperX Predator (4x8G) 32G DDR4 2133 MHz, 2x GTX 780 DCII OC, booting in a seagate barracuda 1T 7200 rpm and it was the same results tan the mac book.

but in a windows 7 ultimate x64 with i7-5960X oc 5,2GHz, HyperX Predator 32G DDR4 3000 MHz, 2x GTX 780 DCII OC, booting in a HyperX 3K SSD 120G, but osu in a seagate barracuda 3T 7200 rpm it work perfect

Same thing on mine. When I updated to Yosemite, Osu just capped to 60fps all of a sudden. I'm not really sure if Apple is even aware of this issue. I just hope it can be fixed by a client update or something. Maybe a wrapper update? Well, I tried to update mine but it just gives an error and tells me to just do a manual update. I really don't want to mess with anything cuz things might get chaotic.

Sometimes if I'm lucky it does go back to 120fps. But most of the time it's capped.

hahaha, hackintosh...
my 21" late 2013 iMac is better than hackinthos with a i7-5960X 3,5 GHz, HyperX Predator (4x8G) 32G DDR4 2133 MHz, 2x GTX 780 DCII OC, booting in a seagate barracuda 1T 7200 rpm, never mind

it crashed after i added some beatmaps to "osu! ▸ Contents ▸ Resources ▸ drive_c ▸ Program Files ▸ osu! ▸ Songs"

Since updating to yosemite, my Osu just won't open. It shows the icon in the dock for 2 seconds and then disappears. Activity monitor says it's still running though...

EDIT: Downloaded new installer and updated wine same problem. Except after it says updating installer the icon just sits there now. Waited 10 minutes nothing popping up .-.

this works pretty good, why the 120fps cap tho?

I haven't had any issues with Osu! since the update to OS X Yosemite.

Mulle wrote:

You have to manually configure another frame limit in the config folder.

Heh, am I the only with issues then? .-. I've tried reinstalling the game so many times and nothing seems to be working.

Also what are the osu!.desktop and osu!.lnk files supposed to be?

Delete those files, they belong to windows and not to mac osx.

Osu beatmap editor works only in windowed mode, this true for both windows and mac.
Thanks for help .

I've deleted those files but Osu! still refuses to launch aside from the updater.

seems like that it doesn't fit for OS X Yosemite :o
I updated my Operation System recently, and found that it shows error:

With the latest release for CuttingEdge, I really really love the new update and the new style of Osu!

Bug to report: Constantly asking for a client restart despite clicking on them all the time.
Won't allow reversion to Stable.

Otherwise everything is fine.

Icon doesn't bounce anymore. Game will open after a small amount of time.

Whenever I try to install osu! the game will update but won't even bother oprning. I've reinstalled at least 10 times over the past week. Help!

peppy wrote:

What do you see in osu!? Can you provide screenshots? Also have you tried restarting osu!?
Ummm~ Yeah.
In the biginning it does start up! As good as the windows version to say the truth!
But after starting it up it doesn't quit on its own (after i press exit) so i have to do force-quit to be able to shut down my computer.
But then the next time when you try to play osu (click on the app/logo) it doesn't start up at all!!!
When you open the force-quit pannel again and try opening osu and looking at the pannel you can see it apear (osu) and dissapear very fast!
Because of this problem i have to re-download the beta version every time. (i have like 7 disfunctional osu applications on my comuter now ^^')

Please try and figure out how to stop this problem, or give me any tips on what i should do when that happens >O<

Yep had this problem since the update and haven't found a fix yet.

I feel like OSU! mac doesn't support Yosemite yet. It just sits in my dock and doesn't do anything. This is the updated version also.

Edit: I just read supported versions; Mavericks is the latest supported version.

after i play a beatmap and when i click exit to menu, it stays at a black screen and i had to restart osu

using Yosemite

The problem for me is that it didn't even work with maverick

Actually i cant download osu! the first one (not offline).
and i download the offline one but itscant instal.
how should i do ?
Can i play with my friends?
Can my score submit in osu! ?
and once more, can i use skin that i download ?
Novixion
I'll share my wineskin wrapper's info if that may perhaps help you guys. I've never really had many problems running osu!

Running Yosemite, also worked back in Mavericks.

My only dissatisfaction with this version is that I cannot run osu! in OpenGL mode. I would like to boost my performance (currently 300 fps) so that I have some leeway while streaming (drops to 60 FPS then).

IMHO osu runs better with DirectX than OpenGL when you have powerful rig.
I haven't been able to achieve any noticeable difference, positive nor negative, from messing around with those settings. I even tried reverting back to Stable.

Something I've finally began to notice, my laptop fan does not turn on whenever I play osu!. In the past (1-2 months ago), back when I could top 450+ FPS with current settings, my fan would always be on when osu! was on. Now my fan never turns on when I am running osu! Is there a way to force more Cpu allocation?

Agrrox wrote:

Both osu! and OSX are not optimized for OpenGL. Osx graphics frameworks are just obsolete.
Are you using unlimited fps cap? Try to set higher custom fps limiter in osu user config file.

I'm happy that i get around 120 fps max on my old crappy macbook :) :) . The fps drops are very noticable when there is something else animated/rendered in the background.
Yeah I use a 300 FPS Custom limiter.

So I think I found the solution to the FPS issue. I just ticked on fullscreen mode, then changed the resolution back to that of the normal windowed mode.
Still no fan going off but on Unlimited was pushing 600 FPS in game (double what I got before hand). It is slightly less stable though.

I think it has to be installed inside the wineskin wrapper. I dont know how to do it.

But maybe this will work:
1. rightclick osu!.app and click "show package contents"
2. run wineskin.app
3. go to "Advanced" and enter this code into "Custom commands:"

export LC_MESSAGES=ja_JP.UTF-8
Nope, still haven't got it to work yet. I just copy and paste out to read what is said or read chat logs (i have those saved).

Osu! does not run in Retina mode. Since you have a 2880x1800 resolution screen, run osu! in 1440x900 windowed borderless for a full screen experience. If you need better performance, toggle on Fullscreen mode but change the resolution to 1440x900. It allows the Nvidia card to kick in.

If its virtualbox i cant help.

I think wineskin osu port is already working decent.
Yes, it was Virtualbox, so giving the image would be a waste of time.

What is wineskin?

It is recommended to use the installer (wineskin version, which is provided on first page of this topic) on OS X, using with Vbox is too slow and quite "unplayable".
But maybe the best option is to use with Windows bootcamp.

Well there are two downloads.

http://m1.ppy.sh/osu!.20141010.dmg < Virutalbox

and

http://m2.ppy.sh/osu!.20141010.dmg < Wineskin

Is this correct?

My friend said she couldn't open the second one, that's probably why.

A day of firsts for me. More to the point Osu! refuses to start on OSx 10.8.4 despite waiting the maximum 5 minutes and beyond for X11 to set up. The most detailed description I can give is that it opens, remains open and then nothing happens. It sits in my application bar without any action, plus right click quitting does nothing.

Both are for directly running on Mac. They are the same file.

I recommend against Vbox and something similar like Parallels because it runs Osu! in Retina Mode (hard to get many frames)

This is nonsense. I get ~250fps at 2880x1800 fullscreen on a first-generation Retina Macbook Pro 15" in Parallels.

Try to adjust global osu offset, you can find that in options.
You can also use this: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/4659
The input lag can be solved while the sound of notes will be out of time with music...

Edit mode is not working and freezes at loading screen. I can only exit by force quitting the Osu! application

That happened with me, and the only fix I found for it was to reinstall osu. By that, I mean downloading it again, dumping it on the desktop and then reinstalling all the songs. It's a bother, but it works.

Anyone here have problems with the offset?

I've tried tons of different offsets but I can't get the hitcircles sounds to sync properly with the music and the UR.

Running 10.9 btw.

I've been having issues with keyboard latency for a while now (~200 ms). It's like that even on the built-in laptop keybord. The new wrapper seemed to improve the delay slightly though.

MacBook Pro 13-inch, Early 2011. The delay is still ~200 ms for me, even using the newest wrapper.

um so i downloaded it and tried to open it at it says i can't access read only dmg files?
PizzaLovers007
Also it might be worth mentioning that the keyboard delay only occurs when playing a song. There's no delay when typing messages or searching.

I just reset the pram and nothing changed. I did a little more testing with the keyboard delay and I guess I only notice when I'm playing; typing messages has the same delay. The keyboard delay doesn't happen in any other app so I'm assuming it's osu.

Yep I tried stepmania; no keyboard delay there.

Is is just me or is the mouse input lagging extremely since the last 2 updates? It's nearly unplayable for me now...
Before the updates everything worked fine and smoothly.

PS: It's the same problem, whether "Raw Input" is enabled or disabled.
PizzaLovers007
Yeah I've recently had some mouse lag but not bad enough to not play. Perhaps you should change the wine engine being used?
[ Schinken ]
OK. My problems are solved in the new update :)

The new update you just released has cause me some CRAZY problems. Everytime I go to pick a song it refreshes my song list (Like when you add something) and it gets into this cycle and doesn't stop. Please fix soon Peppy :(

This is windows version or osu running under wineskin wrapper, it means that problem you have must be problem with official client itself, not wine related.
Are you running stable or Cutting Edge ? You can check my profile how to update osu! wrapper also.
All good, the update stuffed up or at least I was told so. I went back to Stable and then updated to Cutting-Edge and its working fine now ;)

because there is no public version for Linux, based on gnome? :( Linux users have to do many steps to run osu! in linux
Judging by the screenshots posted by peppy, the OSX build runs via wine (or an OSX derivative of it), especially because of the wine and winePrefix folders.
This Build comes with its own version of it, fully configured and ready for osu.

The strategy to get osu running on linux is basically the same: install wine, and then run Windows osu with it.

The difference between the OSX build and the windows build might be some changes in the osu!.exe that make it more cross-platform compatible and the configuration for the packaged wine version. When the OSX version is "done" (i.e. works very well and has no blatant bugs), maybe peppy will setup a similar thing for linux based systems (very big maybe)
