Use the actual links, even if they're obsolete. The purpose of the page is to show the actual response from BanchoBot. If they're modified, then modify them in the wiki.

I already protected the main page to avoid possible vandalism. Use Sandbox-6 to do edits and ask in the talk section to merge them in the actual main page.

The deletion requests category is not updating even after I deleted some of the articles there. Maybe the cache of the category is not updated when an article is deleted.

Works fine for me.
If there is any problem with caching, use ?action=purge on the page.

Copy the commands in the chat and /savelog the replies? Is the only thing I can think to do with them without asking a Chinese.

Okay. I discovered CTRL + V is the miracle command. Working on it.

EDIT: Apparently, commands like "人品" yield "ENTRY NOT FOUND!". There is quite an amount of them.

EDIT2: Already done that. I discovered Gamefaq have them methods on Hush-Hush achievement. (Some are not so correct tho. Still debating whether should I create a gamefaq account just to fix the freaking grammar.)

Random note: "!faq perfect" will yield "!faq kr-perfect" instead. This seems to hold true for any command that do not have the english command but in other specific language only. It is not really an issue but what if...I wanted to tell someone what really is Perfect and Nightcore but I do not want to link it to wiki.

Can someone proof-read this.

EDIT1: History of osu! (Dec 2102) -> Sandbox-3 (Beatmapping a.k.a. copy pasting from FAQ's Editing) [~7/8 done]

Done. Now I forgot what I wanted to do. Also, where is that good old FAQ link went?

I've integrated the wiki with the main site design. Should make things a lot more cohesive. Let me know if you need any specific changes (point out bad-looking pages etc.)

It looks great! The only complaint I have is that it feels like it should log in automatically (it's kind of jarring that you seem to be on a subsection of the same site, but you suddenly have to log in all over again for just that section)

About squeezing.. It looks unaccustomed because the font size are the same as in the other parts of the website. I don't really think we should use increased font size only in the wiki, just got accustomed to this.

Please request css changes in this thread rather than editing Common.css on the wiki. I will be removing that css completely soon.

Some random stuff I noticed:-
1. Wiki-sortable table isn't working for me.
2. OL doesn't appear on my side apparently. Nevermind, I noticed it is located at the lower left of the screen. False alarm.
3. 2. My Template:Expand is broken as heck. Not like I know how to fix it (sadly).

P.S. fund it! (I would hate it if deleted, I still haven't taken down all of it)

I want to combine the css not for permissions reasons, but for performance. The way mediawiki handles styling is really bulky, and I'd like to integrate it to the point it loads as fast as the rest of the osu! site. Let me know all your issues and I promise to sit through and fix them one by one until it works how you please. Try not to get too upset by the trail of damage I make in the process; it's for the best :P.

I think the main issue now is not working JS. {{Contents}} and sorting tables are not working, it's impossible to change preferences... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

About other glitches... I still want some css changes which I did via common.css.

There is no padding-right in mw-panel, so when you change language it looks like:

Can this css be added to the wiki?

This should fix the issue where the watch link can't be hovered becuase the menu disappears before reaching it.

The 'Available Languages' name does not fit well and it has a line break which "breaks" the feel of the "sidebar". I changed it to 'Other Languages' and did some other fixes to the template. I also remade the documentation of the template so it's more informative than the last one.

The available languages section needs to be included inside the other sidebar. I have logic for allowing this to display on smaller width screens which currently completely breaks. I don't think I can fix this alone, and while Repflex has provided a bit of basic information on how this is working, it may be better to sit through this and fix it together (throw me a PM on in-game chat when you have some free time @repflez). I'll look at the other styling fixes this week, all going well.

Thats why I talked about creating a new namespace for every language, there is a way to use interwiki for language-specific articles.

I have been doing some research and there's an extension that could help with the sidebar issue:

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:CustomSidebar

It allows to use a custom sidebar in a per-page basis so {{OL}} could be used on it easly without modifications to the wiki's base code but on the template itself.

It can be worth a try before going to editing files on the wiki.

Q: Who will update the Ranking Criteria? (I have -1 experience in beatmapping)

Reason: This statement and this forum. Currently, nobody(?) is supervising that page and updating it.
Off-topic: Current Firefox is giving me an headache. It summons up osu! when I do not want it open after I download a .osz.

I see that there is not a modding guide. I am planning to make a comprehensive account of modding. I might as well structure it in the form of a wiki page. I'm not entirely sure how to edit a page meant to be a placeholder. I guess I need to login to find that information.

Login and edit using the "Edit" link at the top of the article. Most pages are a placeholder due to the poor attention to diferent articles outside of the ones listed on various places of the site (FAQ, Ranking Criteria, PP, etc).

I'll contact peppy sometime this afternoon for the sidebar issue.

Can someone clarify the information reliability of the contents of Song Setup page?

To be honest, the "Tags" part is still questionable.
There was one time I was searching for [K] ranked song at osu! but the beatmap searchbar gives nothing until I type it out as "KINGS" (OP title).

The search engine on osu! site doesn't work with queries that are shorter than 3 letters. The beatmap can also not have a tag you're searching with.

Will Host's selected mods (like DT/NC, HD, EZ and SO) be forced into the player? I do know SD/PF will not work.

I am somewhat planning to overhaul the whole page with tables. Should I leave it as it is now or going full table like what i did to Options page?

Add the tables. It looks more organized with them.

I'll see if I can update some screenshots today. With the new default skin, is pretty much needed.

Need test-checking the Match Setup (Multi)'s table:-

Need variable screen resolution test. I suspect the table may end up clashing with the picture, causing the format to split into up and down.

In the unrelated note, I do know today is April Fool Day but to be frank, my activity at the EN wiki may decrease over time due to RL issues (not relationships, mind you). So, before I am completely dissolved into RL, who's going to update the EN wiki? :o

Known bug, peppy's tried to fix it and failed. You have to log in as "Theowest" or it won't work (first letter must be capital)

Two questions :

I'm interested on translating some of the content of the wiki to portuguese, how can I do so? (without breaking any rule/bugging it up)

Copy the pages on the new place (Don't move but copy). Usually in the appropiate namespace (PT:Article for example).

As for a template, I don't think there's a "Translation in progress" template yet. You can always create it if you want.

If you want to create a new one, type name of article in Search field, click “ok” and then you can see at the bottom something like “Create the page "name" on this wiki!”. Click the red link and write your article.

I use PT:<article> based on the english version of it, I suppose you could do the same, RU did the same.

Uh... I'm not really sure where to ask this since this is actually really my first time posting here, but...

What do you do if your beatmap is updated and/or says 'Click here to update this map'
Then, when you click it, it won't update?

Like... I'm in an online match with my friend and it shows this for her (she's quite new to Osu! so, I was trying to help her look for some clues on how to fix the said issue.):


Any ideas? Thanks~

probably yes, a animation of a slider ball will be more practical than a static image of the same, spinner spinning and osu! scoring (50,100,300) too, but well, please keep in mind the file size, the page might get too heavy to load.

Vacation ended for me, so I'm doing finally some work to the wiki.

Since the language sidebar is not going to happen soon (It seems that peppy's busy with some other things), I went and did a makeover to the {{OL }} template. I hope it looks good and fits well.

And someone can explain this? I saw the reasons but I can't enter osu! to check it. (OpenGL in Win 7 + 2002 PC = unplayable mess).

I'm honored that TicClick began translating the giant Storyboard Scripting pages into Russian. The more I think about it, the more I realize it's not really a "guide" per se - and there probably should be a more beginner-friendly guide on the wiki instead of this multi-page monster scaring them away. I've posted a link to Doomsday's video for now, but I think the wiki deserves a text-based guide as well, and one not written by me, as those apparently turn out to be 10 pages long :o .

"Bump" because I didn't know where to ask. I'm working on translating the wiki from English to French with a bunch of guys. I noticed that the {{OL}} template doesn't display corretly when creating a FR:[pagename] (the space where the other languages should be displayed is blank). Is there a way to correct this ?

Also, is it possible to change the page title from english to french (or another language) without it becoming "unrelated"/"unlinked" to the original english page ?

Other Languages doesn't show properly when added on a language page due to how the template looks for links. And for the link name, the details are in its documentation (Add "|fr=Critères de Ranking Généraux" on the General Ranking Criteria)

If it still won't happen anytime soon, why not including an {{OL}} in Main_Page in the meantime? This would make the main pages of the other languages a lot more visible than now. It would require to rename them though, like Chinese to ZH:Main_Page.

peppy said last year that he'll work on the sidebar but I haven't heard anything from that since.

On wikitables? Add cellspacing="0" where 0 is the padding after the opening ( {| ).

Overhauled the whole Streaming with OBS Page. I am not a native english speaker, so it would be nice if someone looks over it.
Also added some advanced things you can do while streaming, that can also be realized in the other streaming programs. Maybe new Cat for that kind of guide?

How can I add a footnote on a page? I tried with <ref>, {{ref}} and {{note}} but they don't seem to be working.

(also, is it me or the wiki is incredibly slow since yesterday?)

osu!wiki is acting up on me so I am slacking off. Currently can't log in :cry: .

Note: Making new account directs me to osu.ppy.sh . Now I wonder how new users makes an osu!wiki account.

EDIT: Scrambling April-May 2012 in my email gives no results. So, I am likely screwed to make a secondary account since there is no password reset button. May try again later to see if my account can be electrocuted from deadlock.

You can name it in the language you want as long you add the correct prefix to the name. I think it was ZH: for the chinese articles.

P.S. O.T.N., Mephisto, Hades in Heaven, Predator, Calamity Fortune and FREEDMAN are reoccurring winners in Top 10. So, 27 unique songs with 13 duplicates.

It could fit as a standalone guide unless it's complimenting another guide, which in that case should be in that guide.

The only encode "guide" I can remember is the one I made for a guide but is for foobar2000 and most things there could not apply for other converters.

TL;DR No, there isn't a proper encode guide.

Probably in the Miscellaneous section. While a correct encoding is part of the Ranking Criteria, I don't think it should be in the General Mapping/Modding Info section. I could be wrong here but if it's on the wrong place, it will be eventually moved to a correct location.

The process of changing the bitrate of a mp3. Usable bitrates range from 128 kbps up to 192 kbps so as to ensure that audio quality is kept within the limits of the ranking criteria. In some cases, mappers own a mp3 with higher bitrates (usually 320 kbps or 256 kbps) that need to be lowered using a third-party software to fit in the allowed range for their maps to be rankable.

Audacity is a open source free audio editing software. It requires the The LAME MP3 encoding library to be able to export sound files in the mp3 format. Once installed, select the options (constant bitrate or variable bitrate) and the desired bitrate when exporting an audio file in that format.

When looking for music to map for osu!, there are tons of great free use audio portals such as newgrounds, soundcloud, Ocremix, and bandcamp, that offer free music to use under creative commons.
