It works well enough even with the old ~300KB files but the way I understand it, the channel buffers will always be used for the full length of the PCM files even if the file contains only silence. The reason why I bothered with this is the stuttering and the (audio)lags I got with the old files on my netbook (to be fair I see this happening with many custom hitsounds). On a "normal" PC/MAC this shouldn't happen anyway but I removed the silence to test if it fixes the stuttering and it did. The quality of the hitsounds was not changed, so why not include the files if they are already made?
I understand your point - it's kinda interesting that the stuttering was fixed just by that.
But really, an old PC could have much more reasons to run slower, stutter or whatever than 300 extra kb, that's what I mean. In any case, the change doesn't hurt, but I still believe it's pretty unnecessary to bother doing that.
Though with the info you provided it isn't as deleting an empty .osb in cases like your old PC, I'll give you that.
