The level name isn't always the name of the song (see Fingerdash where the real song name is Fingerbang), and it seems to be the case here too. I checked the official YouTube video where the song is called "Geometry Dash" and not only Dash. https://youtu.be/SkYv_cIsbV8?si=GGVALfwU9v-G0SWL

I am not taking the level name "Dash" as the source, but how the song is credited within the game (as you can clearly see, it says "Dash by MDK", I highly doubt that this is to credit who created the level lmao).

I decided to mention this metadata thing since this seems somewhat similar to this discussion I had a while ago 2087044#4031034

Checked the YouTube, the SoundCloud and even Spotify and in all cases the song name is "Geometry Dash (Official Theme Song)"

That’s a different song tho, the mixing is different and it’s the “extended” version. The in game version is only credited as Dash. Basically I think there is a distinction between the song “Dash” (being the in game version) and “Geometry Dash” (the official theme song)

Look at point 3. In this case, as I mentioned before, I would consider in-game information to be the primary metadata source. meiqth argued by the same logic on their ranked Polargeist map which also uses the game cut version of the respective song (I also sent the discussion link to that in an earlier post)

No, I think that’s counter productive. Pretty sure that fingerbang is actually credited in game as fingerbang (need to check tho, don’t really have the means to do so right this second). Therefore also dash should be titled as the in game name of the song.

In addition to this I’m pretty sure “geometry dash” is a different song from “dash” because it sounds different- if you listen to “geometry dash” on YouTube it sound different then the in game ver, so even if you keep the title as “geometry dash” I think specifying the game ver is still important
