my parents want to buy me adobe master something.... is it good? i want the best one or whatever like yeah,ok heres a pic of it.

or should i get another kind of thingiemagig im so ready to get out of gimp.!!!

ok well right now i used gimp for photo editing and fun things (i really like photography and such..) plus i could things for school with it(im taking photagraphy 2 this year). ive only used photoshop once before and some people are raving about cs4 so it might be really fun using it.
i really dont know what else you can do with the adobe master besides photo edditing so yeah.

Unless you're going to create websites and edit sound files and videos, skip Master Collection and buy Photoshop CS4 for $699. Same thing as Photoshop CS4 Extended, but without a bunch of useless functions for 3D models.

ok so i got photoshop cs4(the cheap non expanded edition) today (actually yesterday) yay! but its ugly are there skins for photshop? also it came with some programs like adobe bridge,device central,drive, extended script toolkit and extended manager..what are these for and are they useful or just crap

Why does it cost so much? I thought Photoshop was like 700 dollars.

Then again, the last time I checked was about 7 years ago.

Also, while I frown upon the "wtf you purchase software?" attitude in this thread, I do agree that it's kind of overkill for a novice, and as such, probably not the wisest purchase.

It is, Master Collection is the complete CS4 set.

Trial versions are there so you can test it before you shell out.
Also, there are like 3 things you can do with Photoshop that you can't do with GIMP, all of which are extremely advanced techniques.
