https://osu.ppy.sh/s/736560I posted this over on reddit but I figured I'd post it here too. It's not really a quality issue, and you might've already discussed this before the first dq of the map, but anyway, here's what I posted over there:
I don't really care too much about the pp mapping drama and all that, but it should be named "pp compilation" or something along those lines, and not "songs compilation". If you look at previous compilations https://osu.ppy.sh/p/beatmaplist?q=compilation, they all have a theme that makes the songs in the compilation related, be it an anime series, artist or a game mechanic (stream compilation). Except https://osu.ppy.sh/s/343728 lol. Right now the title is non-descriptive and the songs in the compilation don't have any obvious connection other than that they've been popular in osu! due to maps accompanying those songs giving pp.
I guess the question is if people should really be allowed to create arbitrary compilations of songs and just call it "songs compilation", or if compilations should require some kind of theme that connects the songs to each other (which in this case would be pp)
Also, being honest about what it is is better than just calling it some generic "songs compilation", but yeah.
What I'd like is at least some kind of stance on if arbitrary compilations of songs should be allowed, or if it should be required that there is some connection between them?
Imo allowing this map to be titled as it is, just named "Various Artists - Songs Compilation" with seemingly unrelated songs (although in this case it's not exactly a secret what their relation is) would allow i.e. me to just take my graveyard 1 diff maps, put all the songs in a compilation and just rank them like that, circumventing any requirement for spread.
And additionally, the song title really should be related to the audio track, not to the contents of the map, or the lack thereof. The map was disqualified because it took the whole "pp mapping" thing too far, but the title still perfectly describes the
songs used in the compilation, and at least I think it should be called that regardless of if the map actually gave pp or not.
As for why I posted it here, I think someone posted it on the map and it was just marked as resolved by sotarks so I dunno what the process would be in that case.
Edit: I'm dumb and didn't look in the ranking criteria subforums.
