It may be the end of 2024, but more importantly it's the end of December, which means it's time for the second Shitpost of the Month vote!
Like last time, I have selected 10 of the best shitposts from December in 2023 (UTC+11), with each person having a max of one shitpost eligible for voting. And with Jun Maeda unable to defend their crown because they lacked a top tier shitpost, we'll be crowning a new Shitpost King this month.
I'm gonna also shorten the voting period to 2 days, last month it was 3 days and it felt pretty long so it's shorter now.
So yeah have fun voting I guess
Btw I added some extra stuff at the bottom that I'll update each month so check them out
Our first thread is also the longest thread ever to be featured in the Shitpost of the Month, not by wordcount, but by sheer size. Here Patatitta reaches the climactic conclusion of his character arc, one which has building up in the background for the last few years. From some random unassuming potato guy to the most outspoken and opinionated person on OT right now, Patatitta's viewpoints have sparked many a conflict. It is the culmination of that which spawned this thread, where Patatitta goes fully mask off and starts taking it out on anything that has a pulse in his immediate vicinity. Dropping cooltext.com gif after cooltext.com gif, the intensity of the red and movement of the fire radiates with pure unfiltered rage, it is really something you must visit the thread personally to properly experience. And most importantly, this thread is actually very important to the ecosystem of OT, being a place to safely contain all of Patatitta's rage and desire to critisize. Overall, there is only one word that is able to truly describe this thread, based.
Ctrl a, ctrl c, ctrl v. These are the 6 buttons that were likely pressed, all within the span of about 3 seconds, to create this masterpiece of a thread. What's remarkable about this thread is it's remarkable lack of any sort of substance or depth, yet that in itself gives this thread meaning. This is a thread created out of a bored stupor, when one clicks the "+ New topic" button without any plan or foresight, but out of compulsion and desire. But what is this desire? A desire for attention and social interaction? A desire for stimulation? A desire to shitpost? Scrolling down, we can see Jangsoodlor press ctrl a, ctrl c, ctrl v in reply to a post. This raises further questions on the intent of this thread, is this some sort of statement? Is this a case of simply sticking to the precedent being set, with Jangsoodlor unable to bring himself to post anything other than ctrl a, ctrl c, ctrl v? Or is this a calculated attempt to make the thread as banal and shitty as possible? Well, if it was the latter, it was successful, with the thread culminating with the ultimate mark of honor, a lock.
The most verbose thread nominated this month is also the most intellectual, delving deep into the psychology of the behaviour of tsunderes. Kobold84 shows their advanced intellect by drawing from actual academic sources, clearly showing that they have attended at least one psychology class to achieve this advanced level of understanding. With their knowledge and research, Kobold attempts to explain the aggressive behaviour of what they coin the "second type" of tsundere with a neurological explanation, drawing a parallel with their behaviour with a phenomenon called "cute aggression", which is "an aggressive behaviour found in humans, [which] happens when they see something cute, such as a young animal or a baby" (Kobold84, 2023). This would've been a very compelling explanation if tsunderes weren't fictional constructions and therefore don't have actual brains, rendering neurological analysis invalid.

A literal shitpost he literally shits this is amazing
And I just noticed, why tf is the clour of the bar at the top different, it's like the same colour as the post
Here we have the monthly Marco post where we witness him having a mental breakdown with Miku involved in it somewhere. It seems that this genre of post is fast becoming a staple of the Shitpost of the Month, and deservedly so, as it is a genre which never gets old and always delivers. Here we see Marco grapple with his sense of morality, one that says "AI art bad", but also says "Miku good". Unable to grapple with this internal conflict, we see Marco descend into madness, hallucinating Miku in real life and the repeating the phrase "what should i do". Luckily, at the end of the post we see that he is in the care of a mental health professional, which is likely the best place you could be during/after a mental breakdown. We all hope Marco can recover from this episode, and come to terms with and find an answer to this conflict in his mind, which I'm sure is a conflict we'll all need to face someday in some form due to the ever-growing presence of AI generated content in the modern world.
Can you believe it guys?

Possibly the most courageous thread ever made in OT. With being straight in 2023 being considered as a crime, Ymir shows courage in being himself, and getting other people to accept him for who he truly is. We can see why this was such a courageous move, with heterophobic replies such as "you monster!", "I'm sorry for you, I hope you can change" and "Go back in". However, Ymir was also met with much support, showing that perhaps with this thread, the view on straight people has begun to shift. In the future, we may look back on this thread as the turning point, the turning point towards a future where all sexualities are accepted and respected, one where we are all nice to each other and can be ourselves without worrying about discrimination and judgement.
You know what, fuck it.
I'm straight too.
I'm not gonna lie, not sure what was in this thread initially, but it had to be pretty epic for it to be LITERALLY LOCKED IMMEDIATELY, LIKE THE ONLY OTHER POST ON THE THREAD IS LITERALLY JUST KOBOLD LOCKING THE THREAD
LIKE DAMNN BRO
Also anybody know what happened to the image? Looking at the page source you can see that there is an image tag that was used, but the image it links to doesn't exist. Is this a case of the image being deleted from wherever Scyla got it from? Or can GMTs edit threads without it showing that the thread is edited?
what
Locked in 5 minutes and 24 seconds btw, I think this is a new record, Scyla gapped
November 2023Please - Jun Maeda

Link to the tiebreaker vote
Please by Jun Maeda is a certified classic. Jun manages to pull off the tension and release of the title brilliantly, the "Please" being a cry for help, a cry for action, a cry to click this thread to hear out what Jun has the say, while being vague enough to be about anything. Then you click on the thread, and your curiosity is answered in the most personal way possible, right in your kokoro, because you, a stinky osu player, have not taken a shower in the last 3 days. The brilliance of this thread is reflected in it's postcount, 124 being more than double the the thread with the second most replies, showing how engaging this thread is, with everyone and their mother weighing in, a thread with universal appeal. A truly necessary announcement for all of OT to hear.

I think it would be interesting to keep of some stats, so here they are. For the votes leaderboard, I opted to keep out tiebreaker votes. I'll also update the votes leaderboard and the wins leaderboard after the shitpost of the month has been determined for this month.
