The only takes I'd say I disagree the most are the ef one since... It's supposed to focus on several couples, not a harem but rather an anthological-ish story. Well, apart from that relationship in the second season which had my eyebrow raised and/or frowning for the whole time. The Higurashi one I disagree too since one's supposed to watch the second season too but well, can't force it.

Apart from that I am aware that I am a SHAFT fanboy and a lover of its experimental style and I am aware that it's not for everyone.

Other stuff are like... personal philosophy which I understand everyone has their way to rate stuff. I tend to be generous in some aspects and tend to take into accont if it was made by an individual or a huge company. I also have my biases as well as everyone does.

I disagree with Patatitta's takes sometimes but holy fuck give them some goddamn space. They're actually making this a reality. Saying someone has a terrible taste in any form of media is completely disingenous. What if I came up to you and told you that everything you ever liked, from Grand Theft Auto, catch the beat, and NFS games, were completely hot fucking garbage. It would feel terrible, wouldn't it? You wouldn't like that if I personally walked up to you and smacked you upside the head on whatever you enjoyed in your life. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion whether you disagree with them or not.

This thread is a goddamn blessing to have because not only do we, as the audience, get to participate in providing the OP stuff to review in his own time, he gets to provide his own opinion on what he thinks about them. Any other thread could not compete with this level of activity, this level of trust, and this level of honesty. Not only do I believe that this thread is marvelous in its own right because of this generosity, he's doing it for fucking free! And I even managed to pick up a damn game out of it cause it interested me. So this thread is not only helpful and informational, but a very strong piece of writing when it comes to the real world. Patatitta is providing their own feedback on what they find fun and enjoyable, or agonizing and downright terrible to him. If I love a game to death, but he hates it to the very core, that's just opinions! That's how they work! It's a healthy communication, even if it isn't positively received.

Yeah, sure pirating isn't really good in many people's eyes (unless you're pirating adobe products which honestly that's perfectly fine cause adobe fucking sucks nowadays (I'm not saying you should do it, but you have the option)), but when you actively preach about something or lots of things either positively or negatively, you're going to attract the attention of those around you in both influences. Saying something is really good might lead to people buying a product, even if you pirated it. And who knows maybe the person preaching about it might buy a legitimate copy in the future. That's just how sales works, or atleast an indirect way of doing it.

So while Patatitta might have some spicy takes, everything should still be accounted for as an opinion. Just because you like something, doesn't mean it's universally loved. Someone else might hate it, someone might absolutely despise it. And some people don't even want to have it imprinted in their brains. You can't just be selfish and think about yourself when it comes to having thoughts about if one thing is good or bad, you have to understand why someone else would think opposite. Maybe there's a feature that ruins it for someone? Maybe someone really enjoys playing the game in that way? You have to think logically, and connect the dots on the table, because everyone has their own unique flavors and tastes they are trying to accomadate for in their life. Do they like shooters? Open world? Puzzles? Stealth? Adventure even?

Desperately needed to get that off my chest because I can't believe that people can't even have their own opinion, whether it be good or bad. It's almost 2025 and the internet is becoming more of a cesspool because of clashing idealogies, and the mentality of "well if you don't like it you clearly are stupid". Like what the fuck? I can't even tell if you're trolling because your reputation in this sub-forum just makes it look like you popped up out of nowhere and decided to be hostile. Like the reason I'm hostile at times is because I'm just a grumpy old fuck in this "dying" subforum and everyone somehow tolerates me. But I don't overdo it at times because I understand that there are moments that people are actually cool and entertaining and sometimes I just like to goof off. Infact I haven't even been that grumpy in a while. And now it's back. Thanks for that.

There's a bunch of stuff in D that I disagree with personally but at least I can understand why you don't like them, but I'm kinda confused with bocchi.
really quickly since i'm going to sleep now, bocchi is a very happy anime, it's a really good time, makes the chemicals in my brain go :), I think the characters and the relationship between them are very good, the comedy is spot on, the music is unironically good for a music anime, animation is good, really, it's a anime on one of my favourite genres (slice of life CGDCT) that is done really well and there is nothing to hate, I've read the manga and while the manga is pretty good I feel most (good) music manga really gets exalted with the anime, tho, if you thought the manga was mid, I don't think your opinion on the anime is going to be all that different
Still dont really get it but fair enough, not really a huge CGDCT fan myself

I dont really think me thinking the manga is mid will make me think the anime is mid necessarily. I've heard it's a really good adaptation, and I remember that the Kaguya anime was so good that it made me realise quite a lot that I didn't realise while reading the manga, making me appreciate it overall more. But then again Kaguya was already S tier for me at that time so idk

I'll get around to watching the anime one day maybe

For me, it was your GTA IV review. I simply didn't have any of the issues you've encountered with the story and gameplay. The only annoying things about the game was the friendship system and the messages/calls you had to wait for to get new missions. Besides that, I personally enjoyed the game a lot. For me, I think an A would have been good, but its your thread, not mine.

As Coldtooth said, you're entitled to your own opinion and going through your highest rated games, I've noticed your taste in games is pretty different from mine and you like to focus on the story a lot of the time, which is fair.

Guardian's Crusade

yooooooooooooooooooooooooo

the game is fine, I like it but it has many problems IMO

Guardian's Crusade is 1998 JRPG about the hero character who is sent on a quest to bring a baby monster to god's tower and like kill a evil good, it's all VERY tipical JRPG stuff, so much I would say this is the most JRPG ever created, like it truly feels like the non-parody version of moon remix RPG adventure, there isn't much to say about the plot because of that

the combat is strange, you woudld believe it would operate like every other RPG in the world but not really, you can do three actions, basic attack, spell (called living toys in this game) and block, which is completely fucking useless like in every other RPG before this decade when they actually figured out how to make good turn based combat

You have your regular spells, like "heal yourself" but for most of the damage one you basically create a summon that acts like another compannion of yours, they will do the attack that they are assigned to until they diek, there is a max cap of total active summons and if you hit cap you can't even use your non-reusable spells. This is kinda boring design, why?, because you kinda just set up all your summons and then you spam basic attack until the enemy dies, it's really, really, really simplistic, even the final boss you kill it by spamming basic attack, in half the combats I didn't even use spells just basic attack all the way, if that doens't work, just maybe farm a little bit and come back

you are also given a lot of living toys and honestly you don't really use 3/4 of them, also some of them are really non-descriptive, also you can't use the healing one out of combat which is kinda annoying,

the biggest problem of this game is that honestly it's pretty shit at explaining itself, like, you have a compannion that is supposed to guide you that you can consult at any times but most of the time they just go "We need to obtain this item" and you're like ok how do I do that where do I go so you just have to google it if you don't want to spend way too long on mundane tasks

this isn't jsut directions that are confusing, but some core gameplay mechanics

in my playthrough, the baby which is your companion in battle kinda sucked ass, they would die quickly and then not get XP for that combat so they would fall even more underleveled and they also revived with 1hp and without overworld healing there was nothing much I could do about it

thing is, the game is easy, so that was never a problem, never really had trouble with anything in the game, that is until I reach the final boss, where I kinda just do all my same strats and deal like A LOT of damage to it, there is no HP bar so I couldn't tell how far I was from killing it. The combat was really long since the optimal strategy is to just only use your MP in healing and that is slow, and then the final boss kills me, after that I go "wtf how much hp do they have" so I google it and I see that I should have killed it by now but apparently the boss has different phases and for me to be able to go to phase 2 I had to trigger a dialogue from baby, but baby sucks and they die turn 1 so I was like how the fuck????? so I learn that apparently YOU COULD FEED IT EQUIPEMENT DURING THE WHOLE GAME AND THAT WOULD BOOST IT'S STATS AND APPARENTLY THAT IS WHAT I HAD TO DO THIS ENTIRE GAME, THIS IS NOT EXPLAINED OR NEEDED FOR THE REST OF THE GAME. so I kinda just go back and try to farm for stats but it's extremely slow so I just give up and put a cheat code on and beat the game that way

graphics were cute tho

Original anime about music and time travel that is neither a music anime or a time travel anime but it's stil good

the plot is that there is a society where really advanced humanoid robots exist, and a robot is created to sing, and after a while a robot from the future tells her that they need to collaborate to save the world from an AI revolution

the time travel aspect of the anime are very light, since they don't actually time travel, they just have a quest from the future, and the anime is that 100 years quest

The music element is also mot really present either, yes, the robot does sing, but honestly the actual music takes such a small part of the anime that it's not really worth talking much about it

The way they resolve the problems is pretty boring given how cool a lot of the concepts of the anime are and how well written the characters are, at the end of the day they just beat people up and that ends up working and I just find that a shame since they clearly have the talent and the skills to do stuff that is WAY more interest than simple action which honestly for action scenes there are way better anime

What I find interesting and what hard-carries the anime is the worldbuilding and the animation

The animation looks great and fairly unique, there is no real reason of why vivy looks like that, it just does and it's neat

The worldbuilding is actually pretty good, every robot is built with a single objective in mind, they have all the capabilities of a human yet they will work to only make 1 specified task, the objectives of the two main characters are singing and saving the world by changing certain events in history. Point is, they're quite different

In many ways, this is all contrary to their interests, if they're AI's, why wouldn't they want an AI revolution?, why get mixed up in all of that in the first place?. And well, it fucking sucks for them but it's in their programming to act that way, they may act like humans but they're not concious beings, and that shows.

If you were placed in a situation where you have to save the world, that would always be your #1 priority, you would minimize the risks and do whatever needs to be done, for vivy, the protagonist, that isn't the case, as her #1 priority is singing, so that leads her to make really bad choices at time that puts at danger the entire world, but it's hard to dislike that character even if they make really bad choices because you understand why she choose the things she did and honestly that is in general a plot and overall character dynamic that I really respect

Titanfall 2

This is a game I had heard a lot about in the past about how it was peak, but I always ignored it because AAA shooter which for me is a BIG red flag, I even got the very ending spoiled, but now i've played it, and man, this is GOOD, I would like to say this is the best shooter ever created but it's hard to say that when ultrakill is right there

I've only played the campaign, but apparently looking online the campaign is more popular than the multiplayer which for a shooter like this is saying A LOT

The plot is about this war between the good guys and the bad guys and you're good and your captain pilots like a cool mech but he dies and he makes you it's succesor so you and your mecha friend BT try to end the war. This is the only negative thing I have to say about this game, the setting feels way too simplistic and in a bad way

In titanfall 2, the titans (the big robots), are like a overwhelming force, it takes an army to take down a single titan, they're THAT powerful, you see in the cinematics, and you honestly feel it too when you're piloting the titan. But here is the thing, when you're the one on the ground fighting a titan, then that titan is weak, it doesn't feel like you're battling a overwhelming force, I once killed one in 2 uses of a rocket launcher.

The point also is that the link between BT and the protagonist is like really strong and that is what makes them so powerful, I understand that, but are you telling me that no pilot has such connection for the rival faction?, like, the bosses are in fact stronger and you may say "well they have a strong link with their titan", but why are they the only ones with that link?, you are literally a random soldier, so why cant any of the enemy random soldiers also be strong?, This does feel like weak writting and honestly a little bit like propaganda. The enemy is both a constant and scary danger that must be respected and dealt with but also barbaric and inferior to us, not only in ideology but skills in the battlefield as well, and the reasons of why this is like this is never really explained, they're just really plain villains

now, everything else in the game is fucking perfect. BT is a really engaging character that doesn't really fall into any of the tropes or pitfalls of your typical robot character, the movement feels great, tho I will say, I don't think i've really used the super cool wallruning that much outside the expected platforming sections, I'm pretty sure that if I were good at the game I would and it would be the fucking sickest thing ever but I enver reached that skill level in the game.

That didn't stop the gameplay from feeling cool, it did feel REALLY cool, it was constant adrenaline, the shooting and the weapons felt great, the level design is really amazing, and in multiple circumstances I found myself playing not the way I knew it was optimal, but that it felt cooler, and honestly that is good game design

after having a few levels just of you getting used to everything they start throwing out gimmicks to each level and they work really well except for that one level when you have to move cranes which does feel pretty boring, but the level when you can like travel between the past and the future is actually so peak

the game honestly looks beautiful, and not necessarily because of it having the highest resolution graphics, it's just that the environments are really well crafted

this game is also only 6 hours, that is a huge positive, because it doesn't fucking waste your time, every single moment is so beautifully crafter and works just so, so well, tho there is the random collectables that the game could be better out without tbh

I was conflicted if this was an S or an A, but honestly after thinking a wahile about it, decided to go for a A

ngl, I expected it to be different, I like don hertzfeldt, I think "It's such a beautiful day" is probably the best western animation ever created, but it turns out this short which tbf was created like 12 years earlier has a completely different style, and instead of being as heavy an artsy it's more random/shock comedy like with ASDFmovie

The jokes are better than ASDFmovie, I will give it that, the animation is also way better, it's all made in paper with very simplistic stick figures, but they still have some really clever effects like what it does at the end of wrinkling the paper around the character to kinda picture tension and stress

also, given that this was made in the year 2000, it's also REALLY ahead of it's time in terms of comedy

I see you behrauder have given it a 10, it seems like you, emajakolic also enjoys this, and for me personally, it's probably on my bottom 5 anime, excluding the ones i've dropped.

I don't get what you see on this anime, it just feels awful. It's a mafia/yakuza anime except that the yakuza are maid cafes, and it's just complete and utter nosense for the rest of the anime. I get this is also a comedy anime, that it's supposed to feel absurd, but it's not entirerily comedy, the tone of the anime really gets serious past a certain point, and it's those segments I hate the most

One thing is having absurd comedy, another is making the anime up as you goe, and given that this is a anime original, it's no exaggeration. Like really, nothing has more than 1 episode of developement in this anime, if something happens it's either set up on the asme chapter or it's just handled really badly. There really isn't any real plot to this anime either, there isn't any goal they're working for, any real big bad, the anime kinda just ends at a certain point and it's not satisfactory at all.

the characters are also really poorly written. In episode 1 the protagonist signs up for being a maid at a maid cafe, then later sees her coworker literally murder someone in front of her eyes and then has to run out of an armed conflict, this literally causes her PTSD as we have scenes on episode 2 of her seeing like food being cooked and she being reminded of what she saw, and then, when she's about to escape, another character has like a motivational speech where she basically tells her "the outfit is cute tho, you wanted that right", and this somehow convinces her that everything is alright, she stays and her PTSD is healed, she never really questions this reality and way of life ever again in the anime.

And it's just, maid cafes are so, so romanticized in this anime. You would assume that for a anime that has yakuza be maid cafes they would be critical of these, but no, not at all, half the anime is THE GOAL OF A MAID IS MAKIGNG THE MASTER REALLY HAPPY BECAUSE THAT IS OUR LIFE OBJECTIVE AND LOVE WILL RULE OVER ANYTHING ELSE like bro wtf the salary isn't even that good

they're not even cute at all either, it's not a moe anime, so like, what the fuck at this point

A lot of characters are introduced, barely have screentime and then you're expected to care heavily for them. It really falls into a lot of tropes of other animes, like having a episode about them playing baseball but the baseball is wacky that i've already probably seen 3 or 4 times by now

also, like, a lot of the jokes just kinda feel like second hand embarrasement, I can't really say of any gag or anything that has really made me laugh either

This is going to the how could you do this to me tier.

I rated it a 10, but I would actually rate it a 9. Because it's an anime that mixes maids with mafia or something like that, I decided to give it 10, since if it weren't for it, there wouldn't be another anime like it.

Anyway, seeing you be so critical about things I've watched makes me question whether I have any sense of criticism at all. I don’t know how to feel about that. Just as it makes me appreciate the things I watch more, it also doesn’t sound like a good thing, I don’t know... my average score on MyAnimeList is 8.69, and a few months ago it was 8.67.

Still, you gave the anime a 5, which is further from 7.59 (the average rating of the anime on MyAnimeList) than the rating I gave it (10, but it would be 9), so I don't know.

I force myself to give at least a 5 if I have been able to finish it, it honestly may be lower, and there is nothing wrong with enjoying things I don't, as long as you're enjoying things that's good, it's better to have a average score of 8.7 than one of 4.2, also yes, i'm in the minority for hating this anime lol

Sleeping Dogs

this is it, this is what we've been waiting for, the first of two games axispraxis requested, which would prove this entire thread wrong and showcase I have a shit taste at videogames. I have witnessed TRUE KINO right here, and I wouldn't have wished any other game, this is the first past-S rank

nah i'm kidding game is pretty mediocre, did beat it in full tho, did not drop it

Sleeping dogs is basically an american yakuza/GTA clone released in 2012, it's abotu this undercover police agent who joins the triad of hong kong, but in the process, kinda betrays their police identity and goes full mafia, the story faces a little bit of the same problems GTA IV does, just on a lesser scale

the protagonist doesn't have that much of a personality, they just follow orders, they rarely do stuff based on their own volition, there are also multiple storyline that basically do not touch with each other, which idk if it's better or worse than having the chronology be a mess, like in GTA IV. And again, we face the same problem of, killing people only matters if it is in a cutscene, you can kil llots of civilians and that is not a problem, but kill one boss in a cutscene and dude wtf,,, you can't do that,,, you're going to get kicked out of the police and go to prision,,, in general the story is very bland, it doesn't really say anything or really do anything that hasn't been done better already

the combat is a replica of the combat system in yakuza but without any depth, like really, it's the same type of brawler combat, you also got your heat moves, I mean, environmental moves, can pick up weapons with limited durability and do special attacks with them, you also got your komechi moves, I mean, melee training moves where you have to do a special combat each time you unlock a skill in the skill tree. The difference is that the combat in yakuza often makes you think or at least feel really cool, while in this game that doens't happen

the combat is extremely easy, but that's not the bad part, the bard part is that the optimal way to play the combat is pretty boring. There are a lot of infinites you can do, thing is, most of these infinites won't led that much damage, and given that you're probably using the infinites on 1 on 1 battles, so, bosses, these have a lot of health and lead to very boring combats

but worry not, there is another way to cheese every single combat which is slightly less boring!, in this game there are counters, the counters are really easy to do and every move can be countered, also, if you're in a counter you're kinda immune to what happens around you, so why not just, don't attack so you never get into cooldown and just only attack by doing counters, this is slightly faster than doing infinits but it's still really boring.

there also points in the game where they just give you a gun, the gun combat is fine, except for some reason getting into cover is really weird and often I died or had to press ctrl multiple times for the game to register I want to go into cover

also, I don't really know why the protagonist doesn't wear a gun at all times?, like, you know you're getting into a fight anyways, why not bring a gun?, but what is even worse, is when you literally have a gun in the mission, a cutscene happens and you lose the gun for no real reason, like in the very final mission I reached the final boss with a gun, then the boss kicks me and I drop my gun and then they run and it's a chase sequence, my question is, why didn't the game allow me to pick the gun from the floor and just shot him???, like, it would have cut the entire final boss lol, if you're going to remove my gun at least make it make sense

this game is full of inconsistencies like that, in the penultimate mission in the game your character is FUCKED, and there is a really cool segment, probably the best segment of the game where your body barely responds and your vision is doing funny things and you have to like do two kills in that state, then you hit a loading screen and like your character is at 100% power already and i'm like what

the driving segments feel pretty bad at time, it's not fun for cops to literally pop into existance during a escape sequence, the car hijack doens't really work properly half the time, and everything has an incredible rubberbanding

it also has a lot of random collectables across the map that just works to make the playtime longer if you're aiming for 100%.

it's just a very bland open world AAA game, just play yakuza man, placed in D tier

Need For Speed: Most Wanted (2005 version)

it starts being fairly solid, it falls of starting the second half and the last quarter is just painful

NFS 2005 is a very arcade style driving game, there is basically no plot, just do the races which is the fun part of the game and just mess around and do cool stunts and stuff. This is not the type of game I cover in this thread, but honestly I kinda wanted to do this one

The game starts with a lot of FMV cutscenes which I very much enjoy, and it basically sets the objective of the game, climb a ranking and defeat razor, since they sabotaged your car making you lose everything. That's about as far as the story goes, the rest of the gameplay loop is just doing the races and other tasks you need to meet the quota to race the next rival and do that until you get to razor

The car controls are pretty good, I never had much of a problem with the car being little responsive or whatever, the tracks are cool, lots of shortcut opportunity and I think they're well designed, but man, the meta progresion of this game is god awful

the idea is that after each rival or each race you improve your car, this requires money, you're also expected to upgrade said car, all of this is fair game, the problem is that money is sparse and this game is also REALLY punishing for doing the wrong choices

You don't really have a steady source of income in this game, you really can't farm it, you have a max ammount of races you can do, you can also do races from previous tiers to gain a little bit extra, but you're never swimming on it. If you buy a car and upgrade it, you're probably going to run out of money. If you try to sell the car, you only recover half the money you put into it, which means, if you spend all your money in a car, and that car just turns out to not be that good, you're just fucked and the game is going to be 20 times harder for the rest of the tier. Like really, the difficulty of the game is defined by how well do you invest your money. It's an awful system that I personally would solve by just giving you 100% refund

So let's say you save a lot of money and buy yourself what is probably the best car you can get at that point in the game, how does this affect your gameplay?, it doesn't due to rubberbanding. Fast cars only help you to not fall behind, however, if you're already winning, a way faster car will just mean you're winning the exact same ammount. It's extremely obvious this is happening too, I remember, on one race, radar race, I did the first corner really badly, I get 140km/h, second place gets 130, and i'm like, oh i'm fine, I lose that race, I do the first turn but really good this time, I get 200km/h, I go like "oh I got a big lead now", second place has 190km/h, that is just demotivating, why would you put effort to get good at driving is such effort isn't rewarded?.

Another problem I have with the progression is just that a lot of things aren't explained. For example, the nitro button on controller for some reason is unbinded at first, I thought I just couldn't use nitro yet. Acceleration races were also very confusing at first, I think I had to rebind stuff too.

On the topic of acceleration races, they suck. Basically they're really short races where the difference is that you must do the stickshift of the car yourself, you're just mainly focusing on that, so the car just goes a predefined path, you don't need to steer, just make sure you change gears at the correct time, you can slightly steer the car but it's not vital except it is because ALWAYS the route that the game chooses is one that crashes directly with 40 different cars except the light steer they allow you to do isn't enough half of the time so the only way to dodge is to go faster except that doesn't seem to do any difference because if you accelerate faster the traffic will too so like what the fuck, also they barely give any money so it's really not worth it to do

A thing the game requires you to do in order to fight the bosses are police chases, you need to increase your wanted level as well as doing diverse tasks, this fucking sucks. First of all, the wanted level isn't tied to your character, it's linked to your CAR, so if you were to I don't know, sell your car so you can get a better one, that means you got to farm the police chase on the double. Also the tasks in police chases aren't skill things, they're just time consuming, they're things like "crash into 15 cop cars", "Survive for 6 minutes". Specially that later one got so bad that I was booting up cheat engine to speed up the game so I would get over it faster. Escaping from the police is also RNG dependent, i've seen cop cars spawn on me when i'm hiding. Also the cops have rubberbanding too because fuck you

Also, this game has 15 tiers, 15 blacklist levels, after like the first 4 you've seen all the has to offer, the rest is just more of the same.

Placed in D tier.

the OST is okay, didn't mention it but the game tries to aim for a really urban really "cool according to teens in the early 2000" feel but it didn't really resonate with me that much

The nitro boost situation is a controller misconfiguration. By default, it should do that, but mid-2000s PC games always have weird issues with controllers and even now there are some rough spots. It's why Steam Input exists after all.

The cop chases are frankly the best part of this game and its main selling point. I do agree that they're kind of janky and the forced challenges are annoying, but the chases itself are, in my opinion, interesting and dynamic.

ah, level three!!! i mean i could enjoy lots of things about the earlier heat levels but it was not nearly as dynamic as it would become after the suv was introduced to the police force during gameplay! i loved those chases so much... i remember playing specifically for that for hours, idk how long my longest chases were but it was a sweet faded memory from a more innocent childhood (...well, not exactly...)

finding the most fun routes to play with the pursuing cars as they got more aggressive and powerful,, trying my best to survive the most tense moments spent trying to escape incredible and ridiculous swarms i intentionally collected behind me, the music aaaghghfhfg i loved the music dearly too

anyway, the gameplay elsewhere was reasonably good and i loved customizing everything i could, idk if it was "objectively" great and a lot of my experience with it was super sentimentally-biased (and further influenced by current nostalgia) but... it is interesting to see how people view that game :)

Little Misfortune

It's not the first time I play a game like this, however, it was the first time in a long while, and it really did feel nostalgic, I really like this game

Little misfortune is a walking simualator/choose your own story game with a pretty cute artstyle, about a girl, little misfortune, who starts hearing a voice in her head to play a game, where at the end she will recieve eternal happiness

While the artstyle is cute, the actual environments aren't, it uses these very dull colors and grim scenarios, like for example, the story can be considered dark but our protagonist isn't really aware of it, since she is a child and she doesn't know any better, things like living in an abusive family for example. Not a new concept but honestly pretty well executed

The game also has some pretty dark comedy that I think is very well executed

The story is engaging, mainly because it creates a very mysterious atmosphere, and honestly it ended up being way better than I imagine it would be at first

The ending of this game is very abrupt, you walk through a door, expecting more, and the game just ends. However, just before that you have some massive lore drops, that puts into question the rest of the videogame, and that is because the game isn't as lineal or simple as you may expect, the monster isn't just a monster, as everything is very allegorical, very abstract. I'm not replaying the game, but I imagine that if you were to replay it you would start noticing a lot of small details that would explain the true story of the game. I think this works really well, the original "dark story but it's childish" is not a new concept, it's something you see, go "ah i'm familiar with it" and then accept it, as we already consider that to be a subvertion, you expected something childish but you got dark, so after that, you lower your guard, you don't expect the game to go further and it does and it hits

The game is very short actually, only being a couple of hours long, took me 2 hours and a half, and honestly, I wouldn't wish it to be longer, everything is so small and compact and crafted so carefully, it's good, also it makes it easier to replay the game, something that you may want to do after the end.

Short itch.io VN, it has a 2.5D perspective and a little bit of movement sometimes but it is a VN; at a more technical level there are some flaws, I had some lag spikes when I shouldn't have given the game is a VN and some sounds looped with the moment they looped being very apparent, howerver that didn't affect my enjoyement of the game too much

I really don't have much to say about this game, it's kinda cute which is what you expect from this type of game, the art is good (the author 100% draws yaoi), as I said very short, took me less than an hour to beat, while it has some horror elements that try to be psychological, the game isn't really about thinking, as everything is explained by the end, no room for interpretation, I think this is a good move as the game is much more focused on the feelings

oh i remember this one...! im glad to see its still meaningful to someone, it was neat :> i think i primarily loved the artstyle and the characters and their interpersonal dynamics, this had crazy good sense of art direction honestly from everything to backgrounds and color palettes and ui, it was satisfyingly sentimental and winnie & augustine were easy enough to sympathize with as more was revealed

but i did forget most of it like i do with nearly every game or piece of media

i remember dead plate too, i have vague memories of enjoying both of them during a lot of the dialogue and cg scenes but mostly held onto the parts nearest to the end like cold front's stairs and dead plate's manager and the Room

cool ^^
