BTW, I don't think you should make the notes shake. Just the background (not video), the ki bar, and possibly the score.

Just as a side note (didn't quite know where to put this), taiko autoplay should start by hitting the right side of the drum instead of the left?
...and auto will miss the first beat if it's on the first beat of the song

Will osu! ever be able to be played in comps without shader 1.1 cards? Mine has a Geforce 4 MMX (64mb) it has TnL but no Shaders... please pleeease release a build that doesn't use the shaders...

Starting work on opengl support - feature additions may be slow over the next week or so.

Here is a teaser: opengl on the left, direct3d on the right.


Note that gameplay works correctly at the moment, but many direct3d functions are still being relied on - the most important one being slider drawing. In order to port osu! totally, there is still much work to do on shader replacement, and input handling.

(+) GL renderer supports sprites to an equal level of DX renderer. Can't handle reading textures from disk yet (reads via DX memory)

(+) First testing release with OpenGl support. Keep in mind editor doesn't work and sliders don't render. Changing resolutions requires a restart. Fullscreen doesn't work. Combo fire/shaders are not supported.
(+) GL renders in standard window.
(+) GL runs with no DirectX dependencies (but will not work with Mono yet due to many native calls).
(+) Added toggle for FPS display and GL/D3D renderer.
(*) Editor won't prompt to save a map if no changes are made.
(*) Reorganisation of options menu.

Original was better. You could easily see how far into the song you are, now you need to actively look away from the playing area and it disturbs playing. Earlier it was easy to see even in pretty hard spots of a map.

depends on when i fix the one bug with it. opengl works on over 50% of PCs but textures display as white blocks on others. unfortunately its not so easy to debug as it works on all my pcs :/. i'll probably have it ready for public release this weekend though.

Is the fruits game mode you mention for single player, multi, or both?
Also, what exactly is the 'fruits' game mode? Is it an Osu! fruit/slot machine? Can we win big prizes? :lol:

Hmm.. I wonder when will the OpenGL support is going to be released.. I cant play Osu! cause my Graphics card doesn't support pixel shader.. Well at least I tried it once on my bro's computer (but he reformatted it so I cant try it anymore.)

short answer: when its ready. if you PM me on irc i may be able to hook you up with a pre-release test of opengl. Otherwise think this weekend or sometime next week. Unfortunately this release is held back a little due to huge changes in other areas of osu! too.

(*) Fixed HP bar initial increase not working correctly.
(*) Reenabled score submission. New test build should be out tomorrow.

(*) Changed way unplayed maps are stored locally (implemented in database).
(*) Increased leniancy on bancho timeout (up to two failures before disconnect).
(*) Vast improvement in performance when changing between sorting modes.
(*) Improved song selection performance.
(*) Fixed slider copy/paste/undo not working correctly in editor.
(*) Fixed status being reported as playing when autoplay is enabled in some cases.
(*) Fixed fail on completion of some game modes.
(*) Fixed progress metre not fading out on song completion.
(*) Fixed editor getting some fruits in it.
(*) Fixed fruits icon being too gray on initial menu load.
(*) Fixed lead-in not behaving correctly with fruits.
(*) Fixed occasional crash after spectating.
(*) Fixed taiko spinner being completed by holding down both mouse buttons.

(+) Added special menu background, basic button effects.
(*) Spinner finish has a white flash on plate.
(*) Flashes are bound to plate.
(*) Song selection returns to special menu when clicking back.
(*) Fixed osu!direct links for ancient beatmaps crashing osu!.

(*) Fixed play mode not set correctly to 'osu!' when entering edit song selection mode.
(*) Fixed mods not being reset when changing between game modes.
(*) Fixed max combo not displaying in editor test mode.
(*) Fixed crash occurring when using '/np' while the current song is not yet downloaded in multiplayer games.

(+) Added bancho protocol version negotiation. (Means test client can connect to old and new bancho).
(*) Fixed ranking dialog attempting to display online stats for unrankable game modes.
(*) Improved extended chat load time 20 fold. Slight performance increase too.
(*) Avatars are loaded progressively in the background to decrease perceived lag.
(*) Removed red tint shader effect when playing taiko mode.
(*) Fixed hide/show chat button being visible during song outro.

(*) Bancho low-level communication improvements.
(*) Improved handling of unplayed maps.

@testers: if you get any problems swap to test bancho. not sure if i made any breaking changes.
@others: no public build today unfortunately. its still looking hopeful for the next couple or days though.
