Freedom and democracy comes before life. Humanitarianism is disguised capitalism. Poor people don't deserve equality, neither do people with a bamboo ceiling. Illegal drugs are legal. The only great government, and everyone else is puny and doesn't need to be considered.

this feels like spite but ok

united states is neat, got some bruh moment problems here and there, but it is not very shite. best part: they don't close their asses about it.

every country got at least some flaws, even mine. and if you start pointing it out, im going to assume you are that spiteful. i do not wish to get tangled in this shite and i just want to get my opinion out, period.
z0z
the US is the result of land stealing from the indians, big business/corporation and rich people's practices, a government that was flawed from the start, and people trying to fight against all that

despite all that, we can see both the people and the business sides winning against each other

i actually agree with that, it feels like a thread made in retaliation

The United States is... Certainly the place I live.

I don't think you'll get many positive responses about it from the people who live here lol.

I do actually have a few things I like about America but it's hard to really put them into words so. Yeah.

My views on the US is like:

It's gonna fall down by itself if their politics don't have a considerable chance.
Overall it's a quite good country but they are in a clear decline.

People in US are generally nice. Racism is bad but it rarely happened to me when I was there. Not sure how it’s going to be now though, but still, people are nice.

Electronics and cars are priced lower than here, which is something I’d be jealous about honestly.

Foods are not so good, even in places where Italians are majority. I love minestrone and steak but that’s pretty much it for “everyday” food.

Healthcare… well you got to be very rich for that.

Education is way better than our country I must say. Professors are mostly serious about their business. It’s expensive especially for international students, but you always feel like you’ve learned something. Probably the best part of my experience in this country in general.

American education is nice TBH. I could skip two grades if I wanted to. The school dean talked to me about it. I also got exactly one prize.

> Education is way better than our country I must say

And yet I think our educational system can be better. Ya know, focused for innovation, design, and creativity instead of memorization and learning stuff that will ultimately be useless. I spent 3 years learning Italian only to forget it. Why do I need to know what the fuck the meaning of red door in that fucking book is?

This basically goes into detail why the american education system is outdated.

That's still way better than Chinese education though. They're literally making things even worse. Only half the people ever get the chance to have higher level education. The other half become bottom-tier workers that only get middle school education.

@YyottaCat I have more PRC scholars in my class than SG citizens (probably because I take advanced math). They have come here and shared with us their experiences, there really is quite the divide in China what with the division of wealth and placement of schools around the country. When they were given the option to come study here instead, they snatched it up pretty quickly. The only problem is, if they don't make it here, it's hard or impossible for them to go back to their homeland.

OT: As a kid, I always thought America was the good stuff. Only in social studies did I discover the existence of a gulf in wealth brackets, widening with every policy the government in America puts up. Healthcare and housing prices in America are still more expensive than I can swallow. It's said that it is because Generation X people just used up everyone's resources way too fast when they were the age of today's Generation Z, that they have next to nothing now.

Looking closer into education, I've figured out that the American education system doesn't sift out the smart, it sifts out the rich. The price to take the SAT and AP exams is nuts. (The ACT is expensive too but that's an independent company and not the college board.) Students and teachers alike in American schools hate the system. Teachers can't be bothered to teach well and students won't learn because of that. The pay for teachers in USA is abysmal for the qualifications and effort required, I think that's why teachers aren't motivated to put in the effort to teach. Meanwhile, students still have to bear incredible expenses to attend college. Tuition prior was effectively complimentary compared to college. At the end of the day, those who come out on top are not just the fittest, their socioeconomic background plays a key role as well. It's a vicious cycle and as education is a base for everything, it worsens every other problem in the States.

I don't want to be apathetic, but in reality, I am just a student and cannot currently help much with the cesspool that is the States. The best I can do for now, is to wish luck to all residents there who have to withstand horrifying conditions.

not really tbh, just look at for example Disney or Apple lobbying for certain copyright laws and against right to repair respectively.

another big one thats hurting farmers is John Deere, joining forces with apple against right to repair.

our country takes the idea that corporations are people way too far.

I mean, I literally got to see the teachers protesting the lack of salary in person. The high cost really is a problem but then it's like at least 5 times more money for foreigners. I don't really like that. What I like about American education is their sense of sparking inspiration and creativity, while in China, two thirds of the classes are so boring that you could totally sleep in class. And then we spend hours doing homework. And then the government requires us to volunteer for at least 72 hours. We also have homework that is just generally frustrating to do. It's just making our minds collapse.

my district curriculum requires me to do 2 service learning projects(one must be civics) by the time i finish high school, i can deal with the projects by picking classes that offer them however or i can do them on my own time

dealing with 72 hours of volunteering sounds super annoying with the amount of homework

i guess you can use me as a student as a reference if that helps
