Original Feature request OP p/2073105 written by Aqo:
It's annoying as hell, it hides the playfield, distracts from circles, and when playing DT it makes the beginning of the map downright unplayable.

Please either remove this completely or make an option to disable this.
We already know the title of the song we're playing before we're entering to play it, how is this necessary. All it does is hide circles.

What Zakdawg originally said
As I can like the idea, i think throwing it in my face as it is currently being done is a bit overkill, and it has actually started to annoy me quite a bit.

A less dramatic version, throwing it in at the first break, or simply giving an option to disable it could be nice.

http://osu.ppy.sh/ss/575083 example.

That is customizable. Tell any BATs to move the title text somewhere on the song. If it's not your map, post on it's thread about this.

And I don't think anyone will allow that to get disabled ._.
blissfulyoshi
I doubt any BAT will disable it, but if you want to readjust it, just read t/14513 and tell a BAT what you want, as long as it is your map.

You can disable it by dimming the background to 100% in the visual effects. That way you will never see it while you're playing. not anymore!

Actually, that's wrong. after the last update the title doesn't get dimmed anymore.

It can be annoying with transparent circles, yeah. But well, we'll get used to it eventually

I would like to be able to dim it again. My skin uses kinda similar color to a lot of those titles and i have a really hard time seeing some of the notes under those titles.

Well I'll probably get used to it eventually.

I just don't see the point in having the title at the start. I already saw the name of the song while downloading it, or at the song select screen.

inb4 denied, i love this sentence.
Anyway, Dimming before update was affecting that IIRC...
koromo
^ It used to, yes. Visual settings (BG dim) used to affect title text too before one of the recent updates. Changing it back to the old behavior would solve the problem, no need for new settings or options.

It really is distracting.
Marcin
well, but on old method, there was problem that faded text, behind main text wasn't working on widescreen(cutting out), so that's probably the reason of changing that
theowest
It needs an improvement either way. IMHO, it's only useful if it's during a break and you have time to read it, otherwise it's just ugly and in the way. Not to mention that you can't change the title text colour without BAT help.
Almost
I was just about to make a post about this. :)

There really is no point in the text in the first place. I doubt someone needs to be reminded the name of the song every attempt.

If you use the fun spoiler nobody cares what you think. You're not supposed to have fun.

It's not called fun spoiler anymore tho

As it is now, the text starts about 1/4 before the first beat.
Maybe a way to start the text as soon as the song start if there is a short gap between start of the song -> first beat (if the map starts immediately, the text should start on the lead-in) would be fine, but that means re-coding the way the text is showing.

That should be better than removing it imo, the average lead-in time is 1-1.5s, it's enough to show the title thing, I find in that a nice feature, rage on me /o/
