This proposal is mainly referring to the Glossary definition of an "Official Source" which is defined in the Ranking Criteria as:
Though the Featured Artist listing is normally accurate, I don't think that the listing should be trusted as an Official Source. Albeit rare, mistakes can still pop up since only a few number of people handles the entire Featured Artist listing.
Such includes:
Akira Complex's "World Collapse" being listed as "World Collapse (Introduction)"
Camellia's "In Black & White" being listed as "In Black and White"
BilliumMoto's "Four Veiled Stars" being listed as "four veiled stars"
* if sources are needed I'd be happy to link the official sources
I know that there's also a thread regarding any issues with Featured Artist beatmap templates, however, these issues aren't changed immediately due to other factors affected by the change.
I'm not sure how to exactly word the new rule/guideline ( prefer further discussion as to whether it should be a rule or a guideline or maybe even just rewording the current Ranking Criteria ), but something the lines of
It's not the fault of those in charge of the Featured Artist listings for these inconsistencies, but rather emphasizes the term of an "Official Source" and tells mappers - particularly Beatmap Nominators - to recheck the metadata.
tl;dr suggest somewhere in the Ranking Criteria stating that the Featured Artist listing should not be relied upon for metadata
Official sources: Media that the artist or their label provides, such as official websites, CD Scans, or official uploads to websites like Bandcamp, YouTube, or SoundCloud. Third party websites such as wikis, databases (vndb, vgmdb, etc.), or music services (Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, etc.) do not count as official sources.
