This proposal is mainly referring to the Glossary definition of an "Official Source" which is defined in the Ranking Criteria as:

Official sources: Media that the artist or their label provides, such as official websites, CD Scans, or official uploads to websites like Bandcamp, YouTube, or SoundCloud. Third party websites such as wikis, databases (vndb, vgmdb, etc.), or music services (Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, etc.) do not count as official sources.

Though the Featured Artist listing is normally accurate, I don't think that the listing should be trusted as an Official Source. Albeit rare, mistakes can still pop up since only a few number of people handles the entire Featured Artist listing.

Such includes:
Akira Complex's "World Collapse" being listed as "World Collapse (Introduction)"
Camellia's "In Black & White" being listed as "In Black and White"
BilliumMoto's "Four Veiled Stars" being listed as "four veiled stars"
* if sources are needed I'd be happy to link the official sources

I know that there's also a thread regarding any issues with Featured Artist beatmap templates, however, these issues aren't changed immediately due to other factors affected by the change.

I'm not sure how to exactly word the new rule/guideline ( prefer further discussion as to whether it should be a rule or a guideline or maybe even just rewording the current Ranking Criteria ), but something the lines of

Featured Artist listings do not count as an official source since the listings are not created by the artists themselves.

It's not the fault of those in charge of the Featured Artist listings for these inconsistencies, but rather emphasizes the term of an "Official Source" and tells mappers - particularly Beatmap Nominators - to recheck the metadata.

tl;dr suggest somewhere in the Ranking Criteria stating that the Featured Artist listing should not be relied upon for metadata

agree. would be good to make things clear regarding the FA listing

instead of having a rule or guideline i'd go with just adding an extra sentence to the glossary definition of what an official source is. something like

The Featured Artist listing also does not count as an official source for Featured Artist songs.

I think it'd be a good idea as a guideline because sometimes artists just have alternative metadata for songs. A good example would be with some of sakuraburst's earlier releases under their soundcloud alias "【sakuraburst】" before they became a FA as "sakuraburst"..

I think it would be a better idea to have an official source to each FA album/set.

we receive metadata directly from the artists (or their labels) and endeavor to keep listings as correct as possible - this is as close to an official source as you'll get in most circumstances, especially since 98% of what's on a listing is derived specifically from master files given to us by the creators of the music!

if you notice any errors or anything amiss on an official FA listing, toss either pishifat or myself a PM about it and we'll look into fixing it ASAP.
pishifat
mistakes on fa listings are better to be fixed as said above

this is also modified through https://github.com/ppy/osu-wiki/pull/3504 (see stub for primary metadata sources)
