Hey,
I use MacOS Mojave and my updater was in an infinite loop. I downloaded the MacOS Agent for osu and clicked other and then updated it. After that, the agent closes itself and when i open osu again, the same update loop starts over.

Is there any way to fix it?

Thanks..
The agent... closes itself? Did it crash or something? Please see the steps for updating osu! manually from my guide: community/forums/topics/679205

Hi, I've scrolled through the forums but there's been no mention of replays troubleshooting; the automatic open in the agent doesn't work for me. Is there a workaround?
You have the agent open in the background right? When you drag the replay file into the Downloads folder it should just open the replay into osu!. If you're using the latest Wineskin, you can drag the replay directly into the osu! window but this method is a bit unstable.

gosh what a busy week, sorry I'm late again guys. If you're experiencing low-level issues then it might be a while before they are fixed, but I would probably recommend trying out an older Wineskin if it absolutely doesn't work. Big Sur / M1 support is a bit inconsistent atm.

Sorry about the troubles, what happens when you try and run osu! through cmd:

1. Right click osu!
2. Show Package Contents
3. Advanced > Tools
4. Command Line (cmd) - under Wine Tools

Run the following command
cd ../../osu!
start osu!.exe

It should start, but if it doesn't, please take a screenie of the terminal output and leave it here. You could also try running the Intel version and seeing if that works.

Generally speaking we've been having a ton of issue with both M1 and Big Sur in general, so sorry about that.

Huh, that's weird. Your first Test Run log shows the same low-level errors we've been unable to solve before, Edit 4 shows that for some reason the Discord bridge running a 64-bit osu!.exe in a 32-bit Wineskin (or other way around) but I think that is safe to ignore. Anyway, this will probably need to be fixed in a later patch so very sorry if you can only play with windows closed. You could try the older Intel Wineskin and see if that works better for you. Generally speaking we've been having a ton of issue with both M1 and Big Sur in general, so sorry about that.

Could you try updating osu! through osu!macOS Agent (https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/install/silicon.html#step-3-updating-osu). Failing that, could you try running osu! through cmd as I showed C_o_l_o_u-r above, thanks. It looks like a low-level issue that possibly may need to be fixed either through the wrapper or upstream in the Wineskin project.

Hi there, could you please make a Test Run, thanks :)

Generating a Test Run through Wineskin
  1. Locate your osu! installation.
  2. Right click on it, then select Show Package Contents.
  3. Open Wineskin.
  4. Click Advanced.
  5. Click Test Run. If osu! starts successfully (even with glitches), you can then close the program down. Once the program has either closed or crashed, a dialog will pop up asking you whether you want to view Test Run Logs. Click Yes.
  6. Copy the results of your Test Run logs to a pastebin such as url=https://paste.ubuntu.com]paste.ubuntu.com[/url] set to never expire. Then attach the link in a reply to this thread, along with the report from osu!macOS Agent in Step 1.
If you need any help with any of the steps outlined here, check out https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html or feel free to make a reply back here on the forum. Thanks!

We're also aware of issues with Big Sur right now, so this will help us identify the issue. In the meantime, feel free to try the solutions above or use the older Intel wrapper.

It looks like you're both experiencing similar issues across multiple Wineskins, which leads me to believe that this is probably an issue that needs to be fixed within the wrapper itself. The errors you're getting through the Test Run indicate a low-level .NET GC issue (which would explain why the wrapper only crashes after the osu! logo) and running the executable through osu! executable through cmd returns some binary translation error, also with .net. In this case, I'm still not sure what could be causing it, but I suspect that the Wineskin engine itself may be at fault. Potentially there could be a misconfiguration but I doubt it would be throwing this sort of behaviour. I'm also not entirely sure whether the Test Run failing occasionally is linked to this, it probably could be but again I'm not really sure.

At this point, there isn't much in terms of user troubleshooting. I'm really really sorry that this has process has taken so long with not too much progress, and the world of compatibility layers is lots of fun. While my sister has an M1 device, I can't really access it since school's in and we're all running around busy :)

Technocoder + Gcenx might have ideas on how to make this wrapper work. In the meantime, could you please provide info that might have been lost in this growing thread:
- which macOS version did you start experiencing this issue on?
- which wrapper version (e.g Rosetta, Catalina) did you start experiencing this issue on?
- were there any other wrappers that you were actually able to run well? if so, which?

I'm not entirely sure why the wrapper isn't working on your particular configurations, and I couldn't find any bug reports on the Wineskin git repo that related to our issues. So for the meantime, we might try and keep working on it.

I do remember that Animated said there was success one time (before enabling Compatibility Mode), do you know what led up to this working?

Sorry that we haven't been getting you much success, we'll do our best!

Hey there :) I had a look through your logs and stumbled upon another Arch Linux user experiencing similar issues as you: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=189137

Reading over the logs again, it seems to indicate being unable to open a URL or something, and load internet-related Win32 APIs. The Arch Linux user reported reinstalling Internet Explorer (wine-gecko) in Wine worked for them... so maybe you could try that?

1. Right click osu!.app
2. Click Show Package Contents
3. Navigate to drive_c/Program Files and ensure there is a folder called Internet Explorer, and inside that folder there is a file called iexplore.exe
4. If there isn't, download iexplore.exe from https://drive.google.com/file/d/1v0pBanSg6q8iAihemEnXq99aRHJP5Xvl/view?usp=sharing and create that folder called Internet Explorer
4. Do the above with the drive_c/Program Files (x86) folder

If that doesn't work, you may have to install an msi file which I might be able to guide you through as well. Otherwise, someone else might be able to help you better than I can.

Hi! Sorry to hear you're having issues. osu! tends to be a bit fiddly with graphics on Wine but usually it isn't too hard to fix. You may need to fiddle around with the in-game settings (e.g resolution) to see if that gets the graphics to work. don't turn on compatibility mode! <-- that will break your wrapper :( - I also tend to stay away from enabling full screen mode since that makes graphical glitches for me (tho it may work for you).

Failing the above, please try and make a Test Run using the instructions available at https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-logs-for-wineskin - thanks!
Hi aidswidjaja, thanks for the reply!

I have gone and checked both the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders and both folders have the Internet Explorer folder with the iexplore.exe within them. (osu! still wont open with these present) Is it possible if you could guide me through the msi file installation you mentioned?

Thanks!

I'm not sure whether this will fix your problem, but its worth a shot. Sort of weird that it opens it when new, but not after that.

https://wiki.winehq.org/Gecko

And as always, make a backup before continuing. Ideally work on a duplicate version.

I'm not exactly sure of the Wine version, but I digged around the source files of the WineCX20.0.0 Wineskin and I believe its at least Wine 5.0. So you can grab wine-gecko-2.47.1-x86_64.msi (direct dl: http://dl.winehq.org/wine/wine-gecko/2.47.1/wine-gecko-2.47.1-x86_64.msi).

Then, right click osu!.app > Show Package Contents > Wineskin.app > Install Software > Choose Setup Executable > find that msi file you downloaded.

Once it finishes it'll come up with a message saying "No new executables found". Click OK > cancel on the Installer window

Internet Explorer *should* be installed now, but I'm not too sure whether it will actually work. If it doesn't, try running a Test Run again and copying the results into a pastebin such as paste.ubuntu.com. It may be an error within the actual Wineskin/wrapper that might need its own fix, if such is the case. But just try it out and we'll see what happens.

Could you try enabling gdiplus Winetricks in Wine, as pointed out by Superuser1958 (community/forums/posts/7911964)? More info is in the quoted message relating to them, but here are the steps for now. Make sure you make a backup of the wrapper before performing the steps below.

1. Right click osu!.app
2. Click Show Package Contents
3. Click Wineskin
4. Click Advanced
5. Click the Tools tab
6. Click Winetricks under Utilities
7. Search for gdiplus which will be under the dlls section.
8. Enable the checkbox next to it
9. Click the Run button, then the Yes in the dialog box that appears.
10. You can click Close once it has finished, then close Wineskin, then try again and see if it fixes your issue
This worked for me. Thanks!

Update: Oh, after this fonts broke.
Update 2: Redownloading and reinstalling an osu! didn't help. An issue with fonts is still present.

My bad, I completely forgot about the incompatibility between gdiplus and cjkfonts. I think it's been a while, so you'll unfortunately need to make the tradeoff between the icons or CJK fonts. As Technocoder mentioned, gdiplus may mean extra instability, so I would probably sacrifice that in favour of CJK fonts.

If you want to not use gdiplus, the easiest option is to redownload osu! again. Its quite strange that redownloading and reinstalling the software for you, so if that doesn't work, I believe the following instructions will.

!!! Make a backup before attempting any steps - ideally work on a duplicate version !!!

Right click osu!.app > Show Package Contents. Navigate to drive_c/windows/system32/gdiplus.dll

Rename gdiplus.dll to something like gdiplus.donotuse so Wine can't use it.

Try seeing if the game starts then? I hope this solves your issue

Hiya, could you please try using osu!macOS Agent to download the latest version of osu! manually? Instructions available here: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/install/silicon.html#step-3-updating-osu

In the event that doesn't work, please make a Test Run and paste the contents of it to a pastebin such as paste.ubuntu.com. Instructions available here: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-logs-for-wineskin

The instructions on the forum post are pretty straightforward but if you need extra help you can refer to https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html. Install guide at https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/install/silicon.htmlBruh the instructions you gave for C_o_l_o_u-r worked, it's opening fine.

There was a bug with osu!macOS Agent that could be causing the behaviour with Wineskin and your wrapper too. You can also try using this terminal command instead of using the agent
sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine "~/path/to/my/osu\!.app"

It could also be an issue with Archive Utility, try Unarchiver instead.

Hold up, are you saying that opening it through the Command Line Test tool works fine? But running a Test Run doesn't?

If possible, could you open up the osu! folder and edit execute.bat and change the file to look like this:

Are you using an M1 processor? Can you please try:
  1. Move osu!macOS Agent to the Desktop
  2. Open Terminal
  3. Type cd Desktop and then press enter
  4. Type xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine 'osu!macOS Agent.app' and then press enter
and then try launching the application again. If this doesn't work, paste a screenshot of your Terminal screen.

Otherwise, please try following the steps under "Alternative Option: Using the Terminal" on your downloaded Wineskin from aidswidjaja's guide: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/install/silicon.html

There was zero response in the terminal screen, and the app still didn't open.

Edit: This is weird, just installed the Unarchiver and that is also still bouncing. Aswell I tried to install osu!lazer earlier and it was bouncing. Could this be an issue deeper than osu!?

Wow I did not expect that to work... especially looking at the Test Run and not seeing any shell_execute issues or anything. That is strange behaviour, and yea, it is most likely an issue with the execute.bat file. If not that, then I'm not quite too sure.

Nothing weird in your logs, but it does say an update.log is absent so that means the game never updated.

If osu!lazer is also not working, then I bet it's probably a deeper system-level issue. I doubt your computer is *too* slow since its running Big Sur, but can you make sure that there's no antivirus or software interfering with the running of new executables? Also check Gatekeeper and make sure that's not blocking anything

Maybe try running some of the apps that won't open through Terminal? https://www.wikihow.com/Open-Applications-Using-Terminal-on-Mac

You can also try and monitor Activity Monitor for any weird activity.

Or potentially try running some applications and seeing if they work in Safe Mode: https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/mac-help/mh21245/mac

Also you could see if there are any weird errors in the Console application when you go to open an app, but a lot of stuff gets piped through there anyway so it might be a bit hard to find anything relevant.

Terminal doesn't work, Activity monitor is saying nothing and neither does safe mode. I made progress by uninstalling the Unarchiver via the app store, then it told me it couldn't be opened. Then I tried to use https://superuser.com/questions/1345755/how-to-fix-the-application-cant-be-opened-on-mac to fix it, and am currently fiddling with directories. Will update to let you know how it goes.

Discord does not generally support audio streaming during screensharing on Mac and Linux. I use BlackHole to route system audio through Discord generally but it's a bit hacky. https://github.com/ExistentialAudio/BlackHole - this is a Discord thing that applies to all programs on Mac unfortunately (as far as I can recall, unless there is something I don't know about :D)

Hi, unfortunately this is a common issue that others have experienced. Could you try running through the steps below if you haven't already?

Generating a Test Run through Wineskin
  1. Locate your osu! installation.
  2. Right click on it, then select Show Package Contents.
  3. Open Wineskin.
  4. Click Advanced.
  5. Click Test Run. If osu! starts successfully (even with glitches), you can then close the program down. Once the program has either closed or crashed, a dialog will pop up asking you whether you want to view Test Run Logs. Click Yes.
  6. Copy the results of your Test Run logs to a pastebin such as paste.ubuntu.com set to never expire.
Thanks!

You can also try opening through command line, using the instructions here:

Sorry about the troubles, what happens when you try and run osu! through cmd:

1. Right click osu!
2. Show Package Contents
3. Advanced > Tools
4. Command Line (cmd) - under Wine Tools

Run the following command

cd ../../osu!
start osu!.exe

It should start, but if it doesn't, please take a screenie of the terminal output and leave it here. You could also try running the Intel version and seeing if that works.

Hiya, unfortunately this is a known problem and there isn't a specific fix. Most likely we will have to build a new wrapper for.

Could you try using an older (possibly Intel-based) wrapper and seeing if it works? Also, try the instructions set out for C_o_l_o_u-r here: community/forums/posts/7951517 and screenie the output for us?

Other than that, we are experiencing really inconsistent behaviour relating to the terminal popping up then process killing, with all sorts of weird anomalies, especially on Big Sur and M1, so we'll try our best but see if using an older wrapper or starting through cmd fixes your issue (or provides more useful info for us), thank you :D

Unfortunately, if you've emptied the trash then there isn't a way to get those files back (short of using a file recovery tool like: https://github.com/cugu/afro)

It's worth trying the Rosetta one first, then if that doesn't work well, trying the Intel one. The Rosetta one is designed to be more compatible with M1 and Big Sur. But generally we are seeing some issues across both wrappers on both M1 or Big Sur.

I got the Rosetta build working consistently on my M1 Mac! (a few days ago)
I'm really not sure how, to be honest. I had downloaded the Wineskin just to try it out on the chance that it works, and after following the steps, it did open. (I can also close it and when I try reopening it, it works)
The command line popup did say something new about a bad EXE file, though. I couldn't get exactly what it said since my photo of it accidentally cut out half the text.

I was able to insert a skin and beatmaps by just dragging them in. I could also drag in an MP3 when I wanted to map, except one time when it didn't work for a certain MP3. Not sure why.
Mostly, things have been at least decent, but osu! is really unstable sometimes. Anything could crash it (it once crashed in the middle of playing a map, sad), and there are lag spikes. At least the FPS is good outside of those lag spikes!

I'm just glad that it's finally working :D

I've tried to solve my problem by checking all posts possible (my English is somehow poor so it's a bit difficult, and I'm also not a coder so it just sucks) but I've found them useless.

Yea that's great to hear! Saw this one a while ago but only noticed now you were experiencing intermittent crashes. I would probably play with the in-game resolution settings (don't enable Compatibility Mode though - and make a backup of your user config file anyway) to see if that fixes anything? It's sort of hard to provide a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to instability mostly because it's really hard to diagnose what's causing it. And if it's just a performance issue then that's obviously limited by hardware and stuff. but feel free to check in and see what you get so that others might be able to have some ideas :)

Btw that bad EXE usually means that a component of the application was designed for 32-bit when macOS is now 64-bit only. But if it runs fine then I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi :) I looked at your logs but I'm still not sure what is causing the problems. I suspect it may be an issue with the dotnet framework. There is not really an easy way to fix this.

Firstly you should try running the Intel Wineskin. Does that work?

Then, you can try reinstalling dotnet - but I can't promise this will work. Especially since with 64-bit programs or M1 Macs wine doesn't :

!!! Make a backup of your Wineskin before you continue !!!

1. Right click osu!.app
2. Click Wineskin.app
3. Click Advanced
4. Under Utilities, click Winetricks
5. Search for dotnet452
6. Open the dlls folder
7. Check dotnet452
8. Click Run, then in the dialog click Yes

It is more likely that it will not work, but you can still try. Especially because there may be a bug with this: https://github.com/Gcenx/WineskinServer/issues/103

Many people are having trouble running osu! on macOS Big Sur and M1 Macs, and we are still not sure what the problems are. It really seems to vary from person to person. There are definietly GPU bugs from upstream on Gcenx's WineskinServer that we are still trying to mitigate, so if anyone has any tips or ideas on how to get osu! running feel free to share!

I'm a bit busy currently so I won't have much time to look into things but I'll do my best...

On the latest Intel wineskin, compatibility mode has been running much better for me. With it disabled, i either get stutters during gameplay (reduced dropped frames: enabled) or a heavily reduced framerate with high latency (reduce dropped frames: disabled)

"Reduce dropped frames" is still a requirement to avoid a majority of the stuttering in this case. Only issue i've found is that the window minimizes when focus is lost. though, the behavior is the same on Windows 10, so it's probably normal. I recommend setting the frame limiter to unlimited, since it appears to be stable.

Specs:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020)
2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
macOS Big Sur 11.2.3
(No GPU other than discrete)

If you enabled it and osu! crashes, it can be disabled manually from the config.

  1. Open the osu! folder (using the agent)
  2. find osu!.<username>.cfg *
  3. Open it in a text editor and set CompatibilityContext from 1 to 0
  4. Save the file and restart osu!
note: the username should be the name of your home folder (ex. /Users/<username>)

That's interesting. In my own experience, and the experiences of a couple others here on the forums, Compatibility Mode tends to crash osu!. This is mostly because Compatibility Mode relies on OpenGL instead of DirectX, and the Wineskin doesn't enable OpenGL by default. However, DirectX calls are converted to OpenGL (see https://github.com/Gcenx/WineskinServer#directx-support-and-wine) so maybe a Wineskin that uses the OpenGL winetricks could improve performance?

This seems like it could be interesting, I'll try it out and see.

If you move your tablet pen really fast, what's the latency reported? For reference, moving my mouse super fast doesn't usually report higher than 40ms.

And just to make sure...

- you've installed drivers for the tablet on your Mac
- you're only getting input lag for the tablet, and only on osu! Wine (and not on your mouse/in other apps)

Are you getting significant frame drops in osu? That would usually also indicate just general performance issues that might explain latency.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of anything that might improve tablet performance other than playing with the in-game osu! settings. I'll report back here if I think of something.

Thanks :D

You can follow these instructions to remove Compatibility Mode from an existing Wineskin: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/graphics.html

If you need to redownload, you can try using a different browser, or import it into the Mega desktop app. Hope it goes well!

I believe that you have to use the CTRL-C CTRL-V keybinds in osu! - you could probably remap your hotkeys to Alt+C and Alt+V if you really want to use Cmd.

Seems like the quarantine attribute was fixed. Your report is showing that Wine can't find ole32.dll (which I think is required by .NET) and is having issues with shlwapi.dll - these files are needed to start osu!

Possibly you are still using an older version of osu!macOS Agent (which introduces a bug that may have caused this issue)? I would recommend trying to use the following command in Terminal just to be sure:

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine "~/path/to/my/osu\!.app"

(https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/install/silicon.html#:~:text=alternative%20option%3A%20using%20the%20terminal for more info)

I think that the files actually *do* exist, but the quarantine attribute is preventing osu! from executing them. That's my guess though, and feel free to try another Test Run and Agent report again, once you have done those things :)

Although we may not always know the answer, there are people here who are willing to help you! :) If you ever have any questions, please feel free to ask. Sometimes I may overcomplicate my explanations and make them look intimidating.

I would recommend trying the Intel Wineskin if you haven't already, and see if that runs better. And make sure you have the latest version of Agent and the Wineskin. If you're still not comfortable using osu! on Wine, Intel-based Macs can run Windows on Mac which is a relatively straightforward process as well.

As long as one has read through the OP, any problem related to osu! on mac is welcome here :)

Thanks for attaching your osu! report. You should try running it again since it appears the Quarantine Attribute was fixed. If you're still experiencing problems, please perform the following initial troubleshooting & diagnostic steps as listed below (also available at https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html). Please also provide a detailed description of your issue.

Troubleshooting steps
Step 1: See whether you can troubleshoot the problem yourself
Many issues already have solutions available to them. Check out the installation guide, osu!mac documentation project and the outdated troubleshooting guide.

If you're still unable to solve your issue, move onto the next step.

Step 2: Report and repair using osu!macOS Agent
  1. Download the latest version of Technocoder's osu!macOS Agent - older versions may have incompatibilities or bugs, especially with newer wrappers.
  2. Once it finishes downloading, open osu!macOS Agent.
  3. If you haven't already done so, click the Select button and browse to osu!.app's location. The text box should display its filepath (e.g ~/Users/firefly/Desktop/osu!.app) and Wine Engine (e.g WS11WineCX64Bit19.0.1-1)
  4. Select the Troubleshoot tab, then click Scan.
  5. After the scan completes, click Repair.
  6. If this doesn't fix your issue, click Copy Report. Copy the contents into a reply to this thread and we'll do our best to help you out! Please don't forget to do a Test Run as outlined in the next step.
Step 3: Generating a Test Run through Wineskin
Thanks!

Hi, I just wanted to let you know aidswidjaja that this fixed my issues with the Big Sur Build on an M1 chip. The issue being the command line showing up and then... nothing. Thank you so much for saving me from the 80$ Parralels Desktop price point haha. Cheers.

There aren't any known ways to fix this but you can still click on the black bar to access those menus.

Nice to hear! I'll add this as a potential solution on the documentation site.

Yea I can't recall whether the original Wineskin came with only 4 files before first boot. Did you try running that terminal command?

Please also try using the Unarchiver to unzip the file.

As another option, could you try these instructions for xc...

Could you please ensure that a path has been set to osu! in the Agent? If that is crashing like you said, please try ensuring the agent has been moved outside of the Downloads folder.

If that still doesn't work, report back with a detailed description of your problem and I'm sure the developer of the program (Technocoder) will be happy to help when he is next online and available :)

Hi, if you do not see the value in the registry editor, then you should create it. Right click > New > String value.

Rename the newly created registry string to "CaptureDisplakysForFullscreen" and set its value to "n" without quotation marks.

Hope this helps :)

Hi,

thank you!
Unfortunately, it doesn't work

even with the regedit modification, My cursor appears everytime i put the mouse at the bottom of the screen.
If my cursor goes a bit too down, the mouse's arrow appears.

when I put my cursor too below on the screen , I see the mouse appear on the osu cursor.
=> for example, if i put the osu cursor in this position (please check the screenshot), i can see my mouse cursor over the osu! cursor (the problem is not appearing with the screenshot, unfortunately but I can say that I see the mouse cursor if I put my cursor a bit too down)

if my cursor isn't touching the bottom of the screen, i can't see the mouse cursor, everything is fine.
=> for example, if i put the osu cursor in this position (please check the following screenshot), i have no problem!

VIDEO OF THE ISSUE :

Edit : when I move the MacOS Dock to the left, i do not have the problem anymore
So i think the problem is caused by the macOS dock
aidswidjaja
The Dock will cause the mouse pointer to appear regardless of the program, when in fullscreen! So this wouldn't be an issue related to Wine on its own, it would apply to any program whenever the Dock is shown.

However, obviously the goal is to ensure the mouse is captured when in fullscreen and that the Dock disappears.

Do you happen to have an autohiding dock? This might explain why it's showing the mouse cursor when it's in that area.

Also are you using a multimonitor setup by any chance?

Are you closing your laptop lid without quitting osu? It could be that the process is still technically running in the background. Make sure that in Activity Monitor there are no Wine or osu! processes running, if there are you can close them within Activity Monitor by clickimg on the process, then click the X button in the menu bar.

Hi! Could you please give us a detailed description of your issue?

Please also do a Test Run as shown here: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-logs-for-wineskin

Are you closing your laptop lid without quitting osu? It could be that the process is still technically running in the background. Make sure that in Activity Monitor there are no Wine or osu! processes running, if there are you can close them within Activity Monitor by clickimg on the process, then click the X button in the menu bar.

If that doesn't help, try and do a Test Run when osu! isn't starting: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-logs-for-wineskin
Now i'm having issues with .NET Framework. When i try to run osu this text appear: "Please set registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\InstallRoot to point to the .NET Framework install location". What should i do?

Please try following the instructions here community/forums/posts/8028818 that I provided to xc165543337

Sorry for the late response. Probably won't be online in the next week until all these exams are over, but please post any errors you have here and I'm sure someone will be able to help :D

everytime i export an osz file of a beatmap (from mac version) the file is always corrupt and the reciever is unable to play it/edit it

is there any fixes?

Morekz, please make sure that you don't have a proxy or firewall running. Try visiting this webpage: https://m1.ppy.sh/ - it should say osu! update mirror.

If this fails, perform a Test Run using the instructions here: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#step-3-generating-a-test-run-through-wineskin

NuclearOutlaw, could you attach a sample of the output osz so that we can see what's wrong with it? Try exporting while inside a Test Run (https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#step-3-generating-a-test-run-through-wineskin) and then record any logs. Reduced performance is expected during a Test Run.

Hi @aidswidjaja and @Technocoder !

I've downloaded osu on my MacBook Air 2020 (Intel Core i3, MacOS Big Sur), and I have very annoying problem. Hope you know how to solve it.

So, every time when I launch OSU, I cant play because beatmap doesn't synchronize with the music. It goes much more faster. I tried to reboot OSU, I also tried to fix troubles via MacOS Agent, but nothing happens. Offset is 0, it works correctly, but anyway, when I play beatmaps, they're go much more faster than music.

Sometimes OSU launchs correctly, but it's a very rare case. I can't find the problem and hope some of OSU players faced with it.

Thanks!

Hi, sorry, I don't know how to fix your issue but someone else looks to have a similar issue in this thread: community/forums/topics/1343519. You may want to consider following that thread.

I've been using various different downloads of osu, and it's been working great. The only problem is, it takes a while to open, as it tends to shut itself down, sometimes before even opening wineskin. I'm on BigSur (laptop was on BigSur when bought) and I don't have Intel. I usually have to go to Activity Monitor to manually shut down the preloaders/wineserver in order to open it again and get it to work, but most of the time they all quit automatically after a few seconds. I'm currently using the Rosetta download, but I've tried the others in the past. Is there something wrong with Wine? Am I just really good at screwing it up? Osu opens successfully about once every thirty or so tries on average. Help would be greatly appreciated if available.

It's not supposed to be shutting down all the time :( best to try and diagnose the issue with the Wineskin through a Test Run
Test Run
Generating a Test Run through Wineskin
  1. Locate your osu! installation.
  2. Right click on it, then select Show Package Contents.
  3. Open Wineskin.
  4. Click Advanced.
  5. Click Test Run. If osu! starts successfully (even with glitches), you can then close the program down. Once the program has either closed or crashed, a dialog will pop up asking you whether you want to view Test Run Logs. Click Yes.
  6. Copy the results of your Test Run logs to a pastebin such as paste.ubuntu.com set to never expire.
Thanks!

What is your external drive formatted as? Are you able to extract the .osz file within the Songs folder itself?
Zarkot
Its labeled as ExFat but i can partition it if needed and yes I can extract the osz but the way i do it might be wrong. I rename it to .zip then extract the song in the folder. The mac agent just moves the osz into the song folder instead of extracting it, making it harder to install multiple maps at once.

Uh wait, this is intended behaviour. You're meant to press F5 while you're in-game to load the beatmaps. Only skins get extracted automatically because they won't load otherwise.

My game takes several attempts to launch. Sometimes it can launch on first try, sometimes it takes over 10 times. Also, even after it launches, there is a super long loading period to play my first map. I can click into the beatmap, but the circle spins for over a minute, then it can finally begin. Any way I can fix these problems?

M1 is still a bit shaky at the moment. Can you try running through troubleshooting steps here:
Welcome to the support forums to help you get osu! running on macOS. To help us understand your issue a bit better, please perform the following initial troubleshooting & diagnostic steps as listed below (also available at https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html).

Also, I'm curious as to your system resource usage. While opening and running osu! can you tell us what your CPU threads and RAM is like? (overall and by process) - You can do this through Activity Monitor. Sounds like your system isn't handling osu! very well.

When I click on osu!, a terminal-like black window pops up. It loads/types a few things and then disappears. Sometimes after this, osu! will launch, sometimes it won't. More often the latter however. After observing the activity monitor for a bit, I realized that upon clicking on the osu! application, a process called wineserver goes up in CPU% usage. However this does not necessarily mean that the app launches. Many processes called win32on64-preloader then show up in activity monitor for a bit, then they disappear. The osu! process also appears for a moment then disappears.

I have done most of the troubleshooting steps but it still isn't working. I have reinstalled osu! and its macOS helper too. Anything more I should try doing?

This is true of every beatmap you've tried right? What happens if you disable the "automatically move" feature and drag the beatmap directly into the osu! Window?

I'm not sure if macOS Monterey would have any breaking changes; I certainly haven't heard of any myself. But I don't have a dev license to check it out even if I wanted to.

However, it's weird that osu! simply won't open just because you changed the name. Potentially the name change is unrelated and there is something else which is causing the issue.

Could you please try these troubleshooting steps, in particular the Test Run? Thanks :)
