3:45 = auto marisa

My data is (using X-split):

Video:
Max Bitrate:450 kpbs (X.264) (can be higher since it is represent max)
Buffer:900 kbit (due to Max Bitrate)

Audio
44.100KHz 16bit stereo (can low down a bit)
80000 bitrate (same as above)

output size:
640 X 360

FPS:30

As a reference

The Second Korean Team registered! It would be interesting...

@Rikers: Do you want participate world cup? well, you can find more US players(I saw some, actually), or participate in some other team is available too.

EDIT:
I'm currently thinking about using both round-robin group stage(Only for round 1, maybe.) and knockout tournament stage. If we do that, The Taiko World Cup will go off for about 5~7 weeks, if there's no obstacle like server instablilty. (The match will held in mainly weekends, I guess.)

Any opinions?
OnosakiHito
Um,... could you explane that one more time, please? I didn't understand it.
,,round-robin"?
And without knockout it would be longer then 5~7 weeks?

Edit: Good morning. *swt*
Topic Starter
lepidopodus
not with out knock-out tornament, of course. only 1st or 2nd round will be Round-robin tournament.

I mean, spliting teams in to 4 groups and proceed round-robin tournament, then 1st & 2nd among each groups will participae in knock-out tornament. Just think about Football World Cup and you will get it.

EDIT:
Team Japan registered, Welcome!

EDIT:
Worried about Bancho.
OnosakiHito
Ah, now I understand. Thank you.

This system seams fine to me.
I guess it makes a little bit balance between the teams.(?)
marshallracer
the round-robin idea sounds good to me, too ... seems fair and also shows who is good enough for the knock-out rounds
Sander-Don
Team KoreaB is like, amazing xD
OzzyOzrock
OHHH MY GOD TEAM KOREA B
NeoRainier
About italian team....actually we are in two (me & Jak64) and i'm trying to search a nice 3rd one to be a little bit competitive.

Looks like I have to practice hard! :3

Yeah, sometimes happen to me too

I will test my PC with 6 osu! later
Finally I have figured out how that's work
But I will need to borrow accounts

Also I think 3 vs 3 make the screen too small lol

Round-robin group stage is a good idea when there are 16 teams or less (15 teams now)
Maybe 4 groups then each groups have 2 qualified team after round-robin group stage
Then we may have knockout tournament stage (Which A group first qualified team will aginest B group second qualified team, etc)
Topic Starter
lepidopodus
@^: More than 16 teams works too, I guess. I'll stream with 6 Taikos even if it's too small lol

EDIT:
To prevent draw in ranking of the teams within the group, I need to set some criteria to compare. I don't think score difference will work cause playing longer maps can get more score difference. So I suggest score difference/maximum score ratio.
For example, if maximum score is 100,000 and your team scored total 270,000 with your oppenent scored 240,000, your team win your oppenents by 30,000. So your team gets 30,000/100,000=0.300 score ratio points and your oppenent gets -0.300 score ratio points.

Won't be used that much casue there's now draw in matches, but that situation can be happened anyway. Of course no need to calculate those things in knockout tournament.

EDIT2:
Oh, and I should mention that this tournament can be last until June if we adopt Robin-round system, so please consider this, players. There is a strong chance that this tournament will include some robin-round stages.

So it's only for ranking, and not for deciding wins and losses of a round?
Topic Starter
lepidopodus
@^: May decide that only in robin-round phase if the number of victories is same among certain teams.
wmfchris
For longer songs, 1 miss costs less but in short songs 1 miss cost a lot, that's the problem.

I think we can decide the winners like this, just like football touraments

Firstly we decide the winner by # of wins in the group

Tie breaker 1: more games won (e.g., 3:1, 2:3, 3:0 is better than 3:1, 0:3, 3:0) *
Tie breaker 2: less game conceded (e.g., 3:1, 3:1, 1:3 is better than 3:2, 1:3, 3:2)
Tie breaker 3: score/max score ratio
Tie breaker 4: Extra match (rare case)

*: We won't have a draw for both teams winning 9 matches, so the 1st place is decided before tiebreaker.
Topic Starter
lepidopodus
Oh well, why I didn't think about counting games when there's tie lol

In 1st round(which has high chance to be robon-round stage), you will need to win 3 games to win the match, so counting games won when certain teams has same number of matches won won't work. So...

- Basically more victories --> higher ranking in the group, higher chance to go to the next stage.
- Tie breaker 1: Less game conceded
- Tie breaker 2: score/max score ratio
- Tie breaker 3: Extra match (rare, yeah.)

Longer maps can have more chance to get missed cause it has more notes, so I think 1 miss costs less in longer maps can be justify.

EDIT:
I expect to start the tournament in April 16th, but I think I won't be able to participate the matches in that day, so I'll entrust arien666 temporarily to do the manager's work for the day. (Well, that will be the first day of tournament so I wanted to deal issues by myself since there can be a lots of mistakes, but I think I won't be able to do it Q_Q)

EDIT:
See below lol
wmfchris
Tie breaker applies to teams who don't win all three games, so they can have different number of games won during the match conceded.

e.g.
Team A 3:1, 3:1, 2:3
Team B 3:1, 3:1, 0:3

Team A > Team B
Topic Starter
lepidopodus
Whoops, I think I'm quite dull, you are right.

- Basically more victories --> higher ranking in the group, higher chance to go to the next stage.
- Tie breaker 1: more games won
- Tie breaker 1: Less games conceded
- Tie breaker 2: score/max score ratio
- Tie breaker 3: Extra match
NeoRainier
Here we are...the DT team! (DT has so many meanings that i can't even tell the whole of them lol)
Nationalities: Italy-Holland

Members:
NeoRainier (IT)

Henkie (NL)

I have to thank Pheon for his availability (and creativity lol)

PS: BANZAI
Pheon

or

I have been thinking,
This rule:
8. The team wins 3 games first will win the match. In semi-final and final, the team need to win 4 games.

If it can changed into,
Round-robin group stage: Wins 3 games
Knockout tournament stage: Wins 4 games
Final: Wins 5 games

Currently I'm making map pools for this Taiko WC. Already chose 120 songs, though not all of them will be used.

Not that many good & hard maps in Ranked standard maps to play Taiko, unfortunalty.

Quite interesting situation happend in Osu World Cup, check OWC thread about that.

In Taiko World Cup? Read rule number 4, guys. I don't know when I set that rule but it exists lol
arien666
Umm...
Most osu maps are with 1/4Finish so it would not be good on taiko orz
Maybe, I need to pick up some great ranked Taiko diffs but,
I wonder if it should be Oni diff...

wonder orz

@^: that's what I'm worried about. Even chosen osu standard maps have 1/4 finishes, weird SV change, loling streams or something like that.
Just pick up something you want, arken.

d d k d d d k d d d k d d d k d d d k d...... Yeah, lots of maps are like that.
Worse case: k k K k k K k K k k k K k K K K.....
wmfchris
Yes there're many solo diffs with 1/4 finishes but there're also lots of them without 1/4 finishes... ._.

Not easy to find them out though :3

d d k d d d k d ... is the pattern that adopted in most maps, but usually there're more variation in harder diff ._.

ddddddddddd/kkkkkkkkkkk usually appear in some very old maps so probably we won't choose them =P
Pheon
Well, osu-diffs should be added if they're good, really. The problem is the SV too.
*cough Banned Forever cough* *it is awesome to play though if you know the map cough cough*
wmfchris
SV isn't a problem unless they're far too slow (like SV0.8 or lower), too high (SV2.0 or higher, or high BPM with quite high SV), odd shift of SV to give difficulty in reading note...
SV 1.4 is only the usual practice of namco but we don't really need to follow that one :3
Zekira
SV isn't a problem
Get out.
OzzyOzrock
Sure some osu! diffs are fun, but are they what we need in a tournament? It could end up going from whoever can actually hit these patterns to whoever can keep their rhythm on rolls and accuracy in high OD.
OnosakiHito
The only problem I can see by using osu! maps is the SV.
But patterns are not really that big problem. I mean we know the maps, so I don't belive that some one took KKkKKkkKKkk maps or so.

Some osu! maps have also a good Taiko beat. Somtimes it's better then a Taiko map it self, honestly.
So don't using osu! diff's could be maybe also boring? I dunno.
Sander-Don
osu! diffs in a taiko tournie? i don't even

also a profile badge ♥ キタ━━━(゜∀゜)━━━!!!!! ♥
matthewhln
I think speed changing or speedy map( fast SV or High BPM) is some kind of challenge to the player
of course it should not be unplayable like Hatsune Miku - Hatsune Miku no Shuuen [demise]

but I think some can be added into the pool to make to game more interesting...

About the pattern, it will depend on what level of map you wanted to take
or what standard you like to take on choosing winner( Their skills or their accuracy )

Still, some maps like Len - U.N. Owen was her? [lepidon! - Taiko Oni] is a bit too hard for some players
I don't think they should appear in early battles.
Topic Starter
lepidopodus
Ok, 137 songs in mappool will be fine, I guess. somewhat lacks very hard maps, but I'll gonna make some maps if it's really needed. (lol)
OnosakiHito
@matthewhln: Len - U.N. Owen was her? [lepidon! - Taiko Oni]
@Lepidopodus: Tell me if you need help because of less time or so.

By the way, isn't it clear now that easy songs will be choosen at the beginning and hard songs at the end?
Or is it still the question, which maps should be choosen?
wmfchris
The difficulty of making diffs for competition is that we can reach less modders and we have to finish it internally ._.

well I'm ok for that :3

Clearly there's a general trend of increasing difficulty when the match goes into later stage.

Still, this is testing result of boardcasting 6 osu!(pervious version) running:

Conclution: Sound is kind of weird due the network speed, I need to low down the quality much to keep this smooth
Pheon
Maybe I could help out with broadcasting some matches -although I'm a player myself and probably not available 24/7-, my internet tends to be good but I need to test this. I'll need assistance on how to do it then, too, though. :/.

Edit: @lepidopodus: It's better to have a longer 'registration time limit'. Means more players and you can pratice few day's more for it.
And the important thing is you have a longer time to see when do you have time; can you play in this time line.

So we have 17 teams, hmm. Round 1 will be robin-round tornament. Teams will be grouped into 4 groups, and 5 teams will get some disadvantage in round 1 and that's inevitable. Well, grouping the team will be completely random so it would be right time to test your luck.
