umh... I was checking bubbled maps and I noticed this. Mind if I mod it? x)
EDIT: uh... let's stop for a moment to discuss instead, shall we
Posting this for now.
I'd like to give a short mod too, to go more in details, although the big part is already up there ^
EDIT: uh... let's stop for a moment to discuss instead, shall we
Main Issues
- 01:01:480 - SV here is set to be equal to the SV in kiai time and this makes me wonder: is the song so intense here to warrant such big spacing and SV? Disclaimer: nope.
I believe you should reduce SV for this section to better express the song. The same goes for spacing: it should be shorter, like... 01:02:520 (4,1) - wut ?.?
This applies to both the highest diff in the mapset. The Extra GD actually has a tiny difference of x0.10 in SV with the kiai time, but let's be honest: it is not noticeable enough to convey the proper feeling - 00:22:636 - let's take the stream part now.
I don't plan on telling you to remove the stream, don't worry, but the way it gets represented is too... random? Let's say that it is a bit hard to follow if I listen to the song properly.
On the highest diff:- 00:25:064 (1) - this was supposed to be a turning point (that's why you have the NC) on the piano note, but there is not difference here, everything is just flowing so there isn't enough impact to make that piano note noticeable in gameplay
- 00:25:931 (7,1) - both are identical piano notes, so I would expect identical objects
- there are obviously a lot of parts where you could do that but I won't list them all
- last thing about the stream is how spacing changes here and there. I may missing something or just misinterpreting, because I sort of get a feeling you changed spacing based on the piano notes' pitch. If that's the case I'd say that skipping some piano notes or not expressing them properly makes this effect drop.
If you weren't following anything in particular in the song I would say you should keep some consistency across this whole stream since it doesn't really change over time
- the stream is nice in consistency since it uses the same spacing, so that's a bonus
- piano here is getting even more ignored tho. Even if it is clearly audible it doesn't get any emphasis at all, it gets treated as a background instrument, lol
- I don't have much to say apart from the fact it is really cramped. Maybe increase SV and add a tiny bit of DS too, because it is really too short compared to the next diff in the spread
- 01:33:561 (2,3,4) - the higest diff presents some really awkward diff spikes across the kiai time.
One of those examples is this triplet, which is suddenly spaced way more than any other thing in the map till now.
Please do mind diff spikes and try to avoid this stuff. - General notice that the white combos are hella hard to play. Even if you put a warning in description that doesn't help much in gameplay. The way they get introduced is similar to a normal 1/2 snap (or even worse, smaller than a 1/4 snap 01:33:561 (2,3,4) - <.<"). Later on you even change drastically their spacing and it becomes like a jump: 01:48:301 (2,3,4) - 01:53:850 (2,3,4) - .
I must tell you that is really unpredictable and as a player I wouldn't expect such a big change out of nowhere. - Talking about the Insane, the first kiai as a strangely short spacing in the first kiai. Once it starts you don't even get that "punch" a kiai should give since spacing is too similar to before. Add some more punch to it please
- Always on Insane, the flow is really disregarded in some places.
You should try thinking at how mouse players will play this more than tablet players, since at this level many players will still be playing with mouse.
Flows like... 00:36:509 (1,2,3) - 00:55:931 (1,2,3,4) - 01:34:775 (1,2,3) - 01:37:549 (1,1,2,1) - (you really want to make them dead, heh) 01:46:567 (3,4,1) - 01:48:648 (1,2,1) - - some rhythms on the Hard are too dense:
- 00:02:174 - you could really avoid this. Making 00:01:827 (4) - just a circle would be the best
- same in the other similar places ^
- 00:09:804 (2) - if you follow piano don't suddenly switch over vocals, it just feels like you overmapped the piano this way
- 01:02:001 (2) - if you remove this you keep more focus on vocals, otherwise it feels like you're overmapping them instead
- there are other places but I'll add them in the additional modding below
- I noticed this mainly on the Hard diff, but I believe that any map can always gain from this:
structure is a bit poor and I mean more visually than rhythmically here.
For example take from the Hard... 00:25:411 (1,2,3,4,1) - 00:28:185 (1,2,3,4,1,2,3) - 00:30:266 (3,4,1) - 00:36:509 (1,2,3,1) - and so on, and I try to explain why are those objects there and placed like that. As far as I can analyze things, they are there just because "they felt good that way and that's it", but I'd rather see some more thought put in that.
Idk what is this song talking about or from what work is, but you can make up some themes for your map based on that sort of knowledge. If not, try to at least make it a clean map, by using some more mirrored or non-contradicting shapes. - Let's switch onto the Normal diff
First thing which comes to my mind is how rhythm in certain parts is really random, as in "it ignores the song".
Take 00:15:353 (2,3,1) - . The way you mapped this vocals (the main instrument in this part) are getting ignored.
What about: 00:15:353 - circle; 00:15:700 - 1/1 slider; 00:17:087 - 1/1 slider?
There are some parts ahead too, but I might as well make a mod for this I guess - The other thing really noticeable on this diff is the amount of overlaps.
There are too many for a Normal diff being the lowest of the set imo: 00:26:104 (2,4) - 00:30:266 (5,1) - 00:33:041 (5,1) - 01:15:353 (1,2) - 01:26:104 (4,3) - (not so noticeable, but it is still there and it's a bi ugly) 01:43:619 (2,1) - 01:44:833 (1,1) - 01:51:942 (2,3,4) - (come on, this is really ugly to be seen D:) - on a general note, the Normal has a really cramped kiai time. You might need to use a larger DS
