I am so scared to touch this game after so long.

new shit I should really be worried about?

Spooky skeletons; once every 10 mins spooky skeletons spawn from the cracks around Baron pit and if you get caught they reduce your current health to half and apply a 70% slow. It's really bad when you're laning and you just get caught by a spooky skeleton; it just completely changes the lane around and can lead you to losing against the lane opponent and giving away a kill.

Spooky Skeleton as the new champ confirmed??? rito plz
EneT
No, Hika asked if there's anything new that she should be scared of so I'm answering her. It's one of the new features that was introduced at the end of season 4. They disguise themselves as this little critter at first but once in a blue moon with a percentage chance of 0.05% per game, they show their true appearance as spooky skeletons much too spooky to be displayed in google images.

They chase you around and once they catch you, a circle appears below you like this. Everyone caught in the circle gets the debuff called the skeleton curse, applying the reduction in life and the slow. The tooltip if you hover over the debuff says, "There's a spooky skeleton inside of you!!!". Game-turning new feature that has really spiced the game up and made it much more fast-paced and action-packed. Just look out for this Hika.
Dainesl
Also note that if your current health is below half you just outright die, really emphasises the pressure of these guys when in lane :P
Hika
im scared of skeletons omfg thx enet!!!!!!

Diamond/Master today is way different than it was in the second season... back then, Diamonds played around the same (mechanically) as low Diamonds or even Plat today.... I realized that I no longer belong there, which is sad...
I wish I could bring back the time when people were still learning the game and played it for fun.

With all the new stuff they added -This is what I get for not playing since Rapid Fire ended.- everything is still new to me. New grade system too, wdf? What else am I missing?

^ Just read everything I posted about the spooky skeletons; that's enough to keep you up to date.

I started playing about a month and a half ago thinking it would be something I could play casually, but then for the past 2 weeks I've been finding myself playing for around 5+ hours a day. Around November last year I started getting interested in it (actually I had first heard about it in the beginning of 2011 and didn't care about it for a long time), but wouldn't play for the fear that I would already be too far behind from everyone else to ever get in. When I became interested I did research a decent amount into it so I wasn't going in completely retarded.

Even playing games with people that aren't ranked or max level some of the matches I've been in my teams have been so cutthroat.

Sad, but true.
I've been playing on a smurf the past few months with my friends that are newer to league and to see the toxicity being so high among newer players just makes me cringe.

I had heard about it being highly toxic in competitive play (mostly bronze, silver, and gold) but how bad it was in the first month I played was pretty bad. Even in the Co-op vs. AI games, if you aren't good and die to bots or don't know who goes what lane then you just get ripped the fuck apart.

In a match I had yesterday, I was playing Diana jg and bot lane, from the very beginning, kept asking me to camp their lane because they didn't want to be against Sona and Ashe. Playing Diana, and especially me not being amazingly good, I kept saying I was not gonna do a level 2-3 gank for them. Given the team I was on still won, but even into late game the adc and supp would not shut up about me going and ganking for them, or would get pissed off if I didn't want to throw myself into an obviously bad situation.

I got stuck being an adc Poppy because the adc wanted to go top and then they reported me for not cooperating. If it wasn't for the mute button than someone would have prolly been dead.
Stefan
Why would you ever listen to the rant of people in Co-op games? As long you don't act like a douche such as insult back nothing is going to happen. Mute them in the first minute and enjoy the game.

The match was an hour but still won
Aurani
Shyvana is overrated as fuck.
EneT
Not really, with Sated Devourer all her E auto attacks do 5% maximum health damage and Q does 10%. Sated Devourer, BOTRK and Wits End. That's 140% AS total; Sated Devourer does 120 magic on-hit, Blade does 16% current health on-hit and Wits end does 84 Magic on-hit then you have the percentage damage with her E auto Attacks.. No other Sated Devourer jungler can beat her.
Feast
She also has one of the best jungle clear in the game & can counter jungle very well so devourer is easily stacked
Aurani
She still brings nigh-zero hard cc to the team, so yeah, would be great jungling with her whilst having similar non-cc champs on top/mid.

Damage is not nearly everything, even more so the higher you climb.
EneT
Neither does Nidalee but she was one of, if not the best jungler in a previous patch.
Damage is only one factor that makes Shyv OP right now. Her main Role is tanking and she does it well while dealing massive damage. Not to mention that it's so hard to build against her because her damage is so balanced between magic and physical.
EneT
Oh and also you have to remember that Shyv Q is basically 2 Auto Attacks put into one so 1 Shyv Q will deal 408 magic damage; with around 145 AD it will deal 290 physical damage, 10% Maximum health and 32% Current health. Is 32% Current health damage not OP enough for you?
Aurani
Nida relies HEAVILY on stemrolling opponents, and once she goes ahead, she's unstoppable, however, when behind, she's comparable to cow feces, as she can neither tank, nor deal damage at that point AND has absolutely no cc what-so-ever.

Shyv has less capability at stemrolling, but balances it by being both tanky AND dealing massive damage with the devourer, so those two aren't comparable across the board.

You see, just because you can get ahead easier with her and eat people away whilst still being off-tank, doesn't mean you're unbeatable. She's still incredibly easy to kite and a lack of low-cd gapclosers means that getting locked down equals instant death.

I'm most definitely sure that there will be better junglers as the patches change, and those will certainly not rely on the sheer stupidity of the enemy to win.
EneT

Aurani wrote:

We're talking about this patch though. The FOTM changes as the patches change.
Aurani
My point was that she's overrated because people think that just because she's above average now compared to when she was just shit, that she's an instant win and freelo.
Yes, she is way better at clearing and generally being annoying to play against (basically what Nunu used to be), but far from OP as all the fanboys claim her to be.

Damnit now I feel like playing, but I'm not going to be home for the next 2 months..
Justykanna
I'm honestly not a huge fan of Shyvana either because if she's jungling, her clear speeds are great, yeah, but when she comes to a lane, she has almost no CC - which is the part of being a jungler that I feel would be super useful when coming to a lane. Even Nunu can chuck a snowball at you at the slow's pretty significant.
But what do I know, I'm sure most others here are a higher rank than I.

If the other jg has good CC then if you're playing Shyv you can get fucked so easily. Even with good clear and if Shyv can stay ahead she still can get caught out in larger team fights. Playing her jg I noticed in fights 3v3 or smaller or if the ally team has more players at the area then she can get out decent damage, but even so I feel like it can be odd to get in the fight unless you throw out dragon form.
Falling behind with her too can also get pretty bad. I mean, that's so with anyone, but as her I found myself falling even slightly behind late game was putting me in a much worse position than with some other jg's.

I'm sure someone with more experience than I tho wouldn't have any of these problems ;~;

something I don't like about shyvana jg is that her ult never seems to help the gank and ends up saving the other team >_>

It's when they don't even try and then complain that they are doing shit all because jg won't gank or mid won't wander.

Personally I don't think her new R suits her gameplay or her fighting style as it forces her to fight in one place after the zone is activated and when has a grand duelist ever healed them and their team?!

Is she transplanting organs from her enemies to her teammates? Who knows...with this in mind all I can think of is a Nurse Fiora skin

So they take an already annoying champ and make her more op
Aurani
I'm sad to see her change, since I remember falling in love with her when I just began playing - more vividly than I can the other champs.

I used to think that 6300 IP was insanely high, so I grinded it with Pantheon bot... ulting people recalling below the tower and stuff. Her and Cait were my most captivating champs - probably because I used to watch my cousin wreck high-elo ranked with them in a few matches, back when I was an utter nab.
Boy oh boy, those nostalgic moments...

At least her rework has been a proper one, and I can properly bury the memories of my early days with her.

Renevant
Honestly, it's not that bad. His trap duration is only 5 minutes now. He'll be much more annoying in lane with the stealth and ranged shroom-placing, but he won't have much of an effect teamfight wise or late game. All they did was make is laning phase better and maybe his split pushing. If a teemo user still doesn't know how to place mushrooms or use them correctly, then it's definitely a nerf to him.
EneT
Ok, I just came back on LoL after coming back from abroad and the new overlay is so weird to get used to. I've lost several trades and resulted in lost games because I just forget where everything is, don't even notice that I lvl'ed up etc.

Kyonko Hizara
I'm not too fond of the mini map being changed to be in the upper right because that reminds me of when I played Smite and I found it hard to pay attention to the map in that sort of placement.
PyaKura
China just had the UI remake here and oh my god it's beautiful, but that's about it. It takes fucking forever for me to check my CDs, especially items' actives and summoners'. Everything is too cramped at the bottom of the screen and the rest feels insanely empty.
EneT
In case you didn't know, along with the UI changes you can now see the cooldowns of your entire team's summoner spells and everyone gets the dragon timer regardless of whether you had vision on it or not when it was taken.
Kyonko Hizara
I still feel like the dragon and baron timers going off regardless of vision seems a bit cheap. I guess that gives you more wards to put other places then.
Feast
New UI is just about getting used to it & I don't like the Dragon/Baron timers when you have no vision but that's just me I guess.
OzzyOzrock
well, let's face it, we already knew they got dragon because of the icon, and we already they got baron because of the buff.

though it definitely sucks that it'll be harder to sneak it in the seconds where they mistime the respawn
Stefan
That's actually a cool change to Teemo, still finding him not that good as champion in general.

And that new Fizz skin..... Aye, it's time for some fish sticks.

I agree on the fact that it won't matter much for the Dragon but I think it's kinda big for Baron, I saw a post on reddit few days ago showing Innox (midlaner for NME) going to put a ward on Baron but it was already done & he ended up being caught & died for that. Just for that kind of things I think it's pretty bad, but well I agree that's not a huge gamebreaking change & I can deal with it (not like I have the choice tho)
Nofool
so i just played an aram 8-) (4 quadra 1 penta...)

That Black Market Brawlers, that made me crazy.
PyaKura
I don't really mind the Dragon/Baron timers being shown to both team regardless of vision, however I'm not sure what Riot was thinking by doing so. All I can see is even more Dragon/Baron dance and teamfights in general.

True, also the BR Steal too.

Anyway, pray for gangplank. Why ;w;
EneT
Not sure about the baron but the reasoning behind showing dragon timer is because regardless of whether you have vision on it or not, both teams can hear the death of dragon anyways and can time the next dragon from that. So Riot thought they might aswell show timers since it's already a big giveaway. Showing dragon timers only really affect low elo anyways.

I might put in $10 more and go for the more expensive chest and see if I can get anything good from that.

My luck with mystery chests in any sort of game is either really good or really bad, there is never a middle ground.

Snowstorm Sivir is so pretty ;~; I wish I could get it from a chest but even if I buy more it prolly won't happen.

Ever since Fizz has been in the free rotation I've maybe gotten to play mid 3 times. He gets autolocked before anyone even has a chance to call roles, so then more often than not the person playing him ends up feeding because they have no idea how his kit works.

You see, that's what CLG fans say every year.
"Dude, CLG went to bootcamp in KOREA, that's like the fucking hyperbolic time chamber from Dragonball. When they come back for play-offs they'll absolutely wreck everyone."
Oh wait a minute, they just got 3-0'd by Curse...
It's best not to have high expectations of CLG, they've been 3-0'd in every single play-offs ever since.

And despite TSM not doing so well recently you forget that out of all the teams in NA they have the most experience internationally and in BO5s compared to Gravity who are still fairly new. They'll most likely win vs Gravity but the TSM vs TL matchup can go either way.

In the other side of the Bracket, I have the lowest expectations for CLG since they always seem to disappoint me and their other fans. Impulse is very hit or miss though so CLG may have an opportunity but it's doubtful; Zionspartan who in my opinion is one of the main staple members for CLG gets outclassed by Impact and the same goes for Xmithie with Rush. Impulse's bot lane is consistent enough to handle Dlift and Aphro but overall, the set can got either way.

For EU there's no doubt in my mind that Fnatic is going to get first; no need to predict that.

I've actually never trusted CLG, always switching players etc but their actual roster seems to be working well so imo they "have a chance", they can beat Impulse by doing some better decisions/fights etc (i agree about the Zionspartan thing etc). Again, Gravity has done better than TSM recently. I can hardly see TSM winning (that would only show their lack of consistency), and "fairly new team" doing well isn't really something new in league, random world champion every years zzz.

I don't have any expectations for NA teams this year, as you said any matchup could go "either way".
NA results are too random compared to other regions so im just guessing what could happens.

edit : yo wtf CLG had fans ? lmao

So in the past four weeks I spent in China and playing LoL from time to time I can safely assume that their level 5 ~ 10-ish unranked players are actually playing the game fairly decently in comparison to our Bronze/Silver monkeys. Perhaps I've been put with some smurfs but I have yet to see EUW Bronze/Silver last-hitting, trading, heck, even shocalling, younameit correctly. Yes they do that in China and this goes beyond stereotypes. My bro has a level 21 account and he faces ADCs who kite well, junglers who know their shit and plays at their champions' strenghts (prediction of enemy's jungler moves, counterjungling), roaming supports, surprisingly enough a LOT OF AWESOME RIVENS, a shittons of level 1 teamfights, more successful ward/flash insecs than fails, etc... The only difference in all that is runes and masteries being limited by summoner's level compared to our level 30s. Now maybe some of those players were indeed smurfs, however considering how annoying it is to register on account over there I doubt there are as many smurfs as there are in EUW/NA even counting the overall number of chinese players because you can only create 1 account per identity - actual identity, with your passport number, home adress number and papers, real name and stuff, linked to a QQ account.

In general Chinese players play extremely agressively and favors champions with strong presence throughout the game. You also find summoners' spells combos not often seen in EUW/NA (apparently Ghost/Ignite is a thing for marksmen, Smite/Exhaust for junglers, many Ez mid/adc running blue trinket + Clairvoyance, mid with Cleanse, etc...).

LoL in China is a whole different world and I wish I could play enough to see how actual ranked players, well, play. But there is no doubt the general skill level is far higher than what we are used to.

Is anything below lvl 30 actually worth comparing to? Level 5-10 ish is like 20 games. Assuming you go into the game blind (which is what a lot of people do), everything is new and everyone is learning. I'm sure that that new player is just trying to figure out what his champion does, rather than worrying about stuff like kiting and trading properly which you learn later on. People need to learn fundamentals first. Do the players over there already have vast knowledge of the game before entering? If this is actually the case, it would make since, but if not, i have my doubts. It sounds like your lvl 21 friend (or you) got picked up by the anti-smurf thing riot put in. If he did, then he is definitely going against all smurfs, because the way that works is you're going against all smurfs or you're going against none once you get past lvl 10. Don't get me wrong, i'm not defending NA or anything. Its just that what you posted doesnt make sense. Its like when someone just started playing osu!, has like 300 playcount and is already worrying about his snapping and accuracy when he barely knows what a slider is.
PyaKura
That's not it, it's more like they just simply do "more advanced" mechanics such as kiting and trading effectively as something natural which does not need explanation, plus doing the basic stuff such as last hitting. As you'd think they probably don't start the game with a vast knowledge, however I'm pretty sure they learn a lot more quickly than we do, generally speaking.

I'm not sure how this anti-smurf thing works nor even if it exists on the chinese servers (yeah they tend to have the same gameplay changes as in NA/EUW except they are always 1 or 2 weeks late, and some system-related changes we receive on EUW/NA are possibly ommited seeing how different the pre-game window looks, with additional features), but one thing's for sure is that we - both my brother and me - never single-handedly stomped a game by ourselves past the first few games, or more accurately speaking the first 5 ~ 10 games post-bot training. That and I said it's much more difficult for chinese players to get a second account because they're linked to a QQ account with a whole lot of personal informations (QQ is like the main social network here in China and is used for a lot of things online, such as shopping, gaming, etc...) and creating a second account needs a new set of personal informations (mainly a second chinese passport). Also I don't think everyone we ever got against - or teamed up with - were all smurfs because there are still the occasional newbie you'd find as first-timer and still struggling to get basic stuff done in lane, let alone team actions/fighting. Another possibility is they are much more willing to find more information about the game techniques online than us (aka they're probably more curious) which might be why they know what they're doing, a possibility further emphasized by the amount of informations displayed at once on pre-game window (like, we have 3 or 4 news on it, they have at least a dozen of articles and videos updated daily).

Also this is not directly related but as you guys might know Tencent is managing LoL in China, Riot has to go through them to make changes and whatnot go live. Not sure about Korea, but they might have another similar society who runs LoL over there.

My prediction of TSM beating Gravity was right; you can't underestimate the experience TSM has, no matter how bad they've been doing in the split.

Now with TSM vs TL I actually believe it will go 3-2 to TSM. This change in TSM is pretty admirable and looks like they can compete with the best internationally.

"He won lane against Shiphtur but that's not a big deal cus' everyone's supposed to win lane against Shiphtur."

CLG, the dream. Let it not be a dream.

Here's to hoping that TSM would defeat TL.
