So now we have the least number of BNs among four game modes. Hopefully there will be newcomers.
That's the saddest thing to hear. We're probably one of the most prolific game mode, and the
second oldest mode (first being, of course, osu! standard) in the game. The fact that we are the least represented with only seven active people shows the opposite of our will to get our maps ranked.
Taiko BN actually needs recruit but leave always more than incomes.
And if we don't have anyone to help the situation will be worse as time passes.
let's wait for the next wave first
Don't have too much hope. It won't be a solution on a long time run.
It's already not one right now. Some maps are stuck already, and I foresee deletions of Taiko GD or mapsets, and some might already think about that, due to too many refusals.
180kds isn't that much
It is. I entered the first wave of newBAT with only 193.
Dont tell people to be more active than they possibly can.
8 mods/month is still a fairly high amount (at least in Taiko and CTB) considering anything can happen real-life-wise. And that the minimal value.
However, I think that those who want to become a Taiko BN should have at least the necessary modding skills (e.g. to give constructive mods with respect to mappers' intention or style), otherwise they may not bring real benefits to the modding process.
The true problem is, as qoot stated, the language barrier. I recall, at the beginning of 2014, that TKS went into the BAT despite being nowhere near fluent in English but he gave short explanations with the English he had. However, if they mod a map made from a mapper of their own country, they can still do in their native language. Otherwise, they can still try modding; even with a low baggage most mappers can still understand what they mean.
This helps to recall our current situation. Just waiting for BNs won't help here, or at least, will probably take way too much time.
And as I repeatedly say (not in #taiko though) at that rate, the mode will end up dying.
