We are experiencing some.. interferences by pissed people while we stream and play. That's why you all shall do not open skype, teamspeak, steam or any other 3rd party program that exposes your IP to others in order to avoid getting targetted. Our commentators were also affected, so apologizes for this.

Keep in mind that it is your very own responsibility to keep yourself secure, because we can not help you, if you make yourself a beloved target for scumbags trying to ruin your tournament experience. Don't forget that.

Moreover, pools and schedules were ALWAYS released on Sunday evening or directly after the last match of groupstage took place. It was never different. And as long as the time span is equal for everyone to practise, it's still fair.

Players getting kicked and dropping is the player's fault. Most are having Skype open in background and they target the users directly. The servers are running perfectly fine.

Time to blame Azer ;)

is that why everyone got disconeccted from bancho earlier? (a lot of ppl were mentioning it in streachat aswell. oh and yes i know participants using a different "server")
score submission went down for a few aswell. hmmmm...
Gigo
What's the reason for the fake combo drops that can be seen on stream? Is it the client's fault and if it is, can it be fixed?
Xytox
But closing down Skype won't help much if the attacker has already acquired the ip, will it?

It's worrying to say the least, and really sad at that as well. Like holy shit. I refuse to believe that Norway would disconnect that much against us. I could bet thousands of dollars that they wouldn't if it was a regular match in multiplayer. Still, that's what happened, and they were not the only ones. Some of my teammates dropped as well. One got kicked from the server entirely even.

And then when our match is done, the next matches gets streamed and not a single problem in sight.

Like I'm so confused. Who the actual fuck would be interested in DDoS'ing Norway or Sweden out of all countries?

This seems to stop skype resolvers at the very least. Probably still possible for contacts to get the IP, in which case using a proxy is always an option.

If you're promoting us to not use skype, can you atleast make an ingame chatrooms like #red and #blue? Skype and other third party programs are good for team communication, but ingame would be nice.

Smoo will work on it. Meanwhile, use the language chats or #ctb or #taiko. They yet exist on the OWC bancho and are empty.

When was the last time a team won two 3v4's against two different teams on the same day? I don't ever remember that happening before. Very impressive.

would be nice if the first 50 matches weren't the same map tbh

just a suggestion in case the map selectors want to put in the extra effort to make the first couple days less repetitive

In #2 we had a different map pool for each match in group stages

Was a nice match against Korea as well, great experience from it.

We had really hard teams against but I'm proud of my team and the performance that we did, we demonstrated to be pretty good players.

Though yeah, every year we suffer so badly to make it out of the group stage! xD

Mixed feelings for this group stage.

Really proud of how the first-timers in the team performed, especially MathClass. K i R i K a R u has officially been promoted to the driver's seat of the bus that is the Korean team, and it's both impressive and happy to see a player who's been around forever finally making a name for himself as one of the best players in the world at the biggest stage of the game.

A bit disappointed with my own performance, for me it is fair to say I single-handedly threw away the Germany game with the miss on Bonfire and then the Terekakushi pick. Should have thought better. Overall I missed too many times on no-mod maps than I would have liked, but improvements will be made.

Had forgotten how fun this tournament is. Loving it at the moment.

Welp, I guess that's all for us this year. Pretty impressed that we were at least able to upgrade from being swept 0-4 to every team last year to at least giving Finland a run for their money this year. Hopefully we can come back next year and perform better than we did this year.
El Koko
Well, that was it for Mexico.

We did well. We gave the best we could under the circumstances. Being our first world cup, the pressure from much better teams on us, our team being generally weak (the weakest in the entire tournament?) and for each of us individually under the pressure of carrying the entire weight of the team on us (well, at least for me, I felt that way) we couldn't expect much more, but I think we still did a good performance. We could have done much better, but we didn't. That's just how things are.

At least I'm happy for playing in the tournament, it was fun, it was a nice experiencie and we're going to come back next year with a much better team. We're going to work hard on that.

Thanks everyone for the games and good luck to every team on your future matches.

I just wonder how Korea was "high seed" and Germany "top seed" and our team was marked as "low seed" while Portugal was a "medium seed", I would like know what's the "top seed" on groups like Group C, Group B and Group E.. lmao

well, nothing else to say, I am happy of our performance, we almost won against Germany and played really well, I hope a better organization for the next owc.

Next year I would suggest to use some experienced players to make groups properly.

i'll have to agree on this one. Italy could've easily won against other top seed teams with their performance and certainly didn't deserve 2nd lowest seed, same for Korea and high seed. This was one tough group man, other groups were nothing compared to this, everyone played SO well!
Deimos
Austria was last year low-seeded and got the 1st place in their group. Can't remember if they were also complaining about being wrong seeded.

Being on the other end of the straw(spectator on twitch) I would like to inquire for someone to attempt and fix fake misses. I know it is "client lag", but there is got to be something someone can do about it.
This one thing is for me at least the most annoying one when watching owc. Hopefully for the next weekends coming, but if it's not possible that quickly, at least for next year. ty

I think this would be easily remedied by adding a bit of a delay on spectating matches. Add a 5-10 second delay to give time for the playback to buffer properly. It really is a shame to see a game that I think would have a lot of success as a spectator e-sport suffer from bad presentation.

I don't find it particularly disturbing but w/e. If you watched (for example) some Counter-Strike matches you'd see that the players usually tease their opponents in the exact same way. Not like it's not retarded to do that, but it shouldn't be overreacted by banning the player from the entire tournament.

Btw, I CAN'T BELIEVE the bracket might AGAIN be almost the same as last year (for us). If we win against France, we have a chance to play against China. If we win against China, we have a chance to play against Japan. It'd be so crazy if it all happened the same.

Zallius said that spectators wouldn't like the delay. My personal opinion is that something like 5-10 seconds isn't a big deal and you don't even need to delay the mp data with a delay that small. The trade-off would be worth it (assuming that a similarly small amount of time would actually fix the issue).
saiyuri
There's an error with the tournament bracket picture.
Even though it says Ukraine is playing against Taiwan, the visual seems to give Ukraine a bye.

Edit: more errors. USA beat UK 4-2, not 4-3. The Canadian and German flags are not showing in two instances.

Maybe, in order to fix these errors in the future, try double checking your work. :) :) :)

I want to know if the knockout stage is going to be double elimination as it has been promised or it will only be a normal knockout?

Because based on the graph that has been posted on wiki, it seems to be just a normal knockout stage which is the same as the previous OWCs.

Not necessarily luck. The top team of a group gets to face the 2nd best team of another group which is common practice.
That being said time will tell whether this actually is the easier path. I sure don't know. :p

Based on the tournament schedule there should be a double elimmination otherwise two Final Weeks makes no sense.

I really don't mind the delay tbh if it doesn't make me hyped up for the wrong reason or something like that (e.g. someone dropped combo, chance of going into tie breaker then finds out to be client lag orz)

I'm just gonna put this out here in hope that anyone developing the tournament clients can see this. The one single thing that ruins the stream is the lag. There is always glitched misses or lag in every match. Is it possible if the client is delayed a couple minutes so everything can catch up and display the proper information instead?

I've always questioned that in the world cup. There is so much lag.

I second that. While spectating it just gives people sudden heart-attacks when you see players miss here and there. Even commentators seem to have a hard time deciding on who missed and which team is leading. This ruins the spectating experience more than you'd think.
