Also, Aqo's post really does bring a point. However, I don't mean that "easy maps should be the center of the game", but that people should care more about following the song AND that there are some outstanding easier maps that are largely ignored simply because of the fact they are not hard enough. I didn't say all hard maps suck and that people should only play/discuss easy diffs.

Anyways, enough talking about this subject, we're not going anywhere. It's obvious that things will stay the way they are (as bad as it is).

Of course. Easy maps are extremely boring to me, hard maps are extremely fun to me, conclusion: I play hard maps. Map quality = challenging, fun to play, and maybe good looking for me. Some other people find map quality in something else like you do. I'd rather have a completely overmapped fun to play song than some perfectly mapped easy.

Games are for fun, if you have fun playing challenging stuff then that's what you are gonna play, and easy maps are not challenging at least you are half retarded or started playing this game a week ago.

Also, you are still wrong, most players are bad and play easy maps, thing is casuals don't really get into the forums and post, they just play, like in every game, so you won't see them here posting "qq that is too hard and ugly I LOVE THIS --> [Link to easy]".

Shall I feel offended now because I started playing 2013 and play for challenging myself? x_x Pointless. My personal view: No matter what game I played, I tried always to challenge and improve myself. That's at one point not possible with only playing easier maps. And yes, I have more fun with focussing 100% on the game instead of waiting for clicking the next circle, while watching TV. When I start playing Osu! I do it because I want to play, not because I want to touch myself while playing.

Take a look at the multiplayer lobbys and you'll see how many people are playing hard ones and how many playing easy ones. Just saying.

You know, the point is, Ellie Goulding - Burn by Ultimate is an OUTSTANDING map, it is INCREDIBLY good and fun.
I say that as a mapper and modder.

But when I'm actually playing I strive to become better. And since I won't improve all that much from playing that map, since I can already FC it, I most likely won't play it except for some random plays when F2 spits it out and I'm like "oh that map, might as well play it rn" after ranking on it.

For me, map quality means that the map is fun, to be fun it has to be challenging. But that's just me, even if you submit the best map ever and get it ranked if it's very easy I'm gonna call it BORING.

Some people just don't have fun by playing easy stuff, that's it.

The biggest issue is that making a hard map that fits well is SO hard.

If I listed all the hard but actually impressively done maps, my list would be rather short. It's not that people don't want to follow the song, they just can't.



EDIT: And they never could, the only difference now is that there are more people who want hard maps in 2013.

80% active players and players who CAN play insane maps (what mean that they can play hard and calm maps).

I didnt mean of course these 3,409,000 players where most isnt active ; )

i find fast maps rather boring, unless they're mapped to the flow/fits in with the song. No map should ever have to use some crazy full screen jumps.

@BD you're only focusing on the negatives which is why so much h8 for 2013

Well, you're acting currently like your age.
You have to keep in mind that the standards now are higher than before 3 years trhough players like the Top50 and mapper like you (Big Black, Airman etc.).
Still can't understand why there's so much hate for people who want improve these days. Especially when they have fun with playing the game on a higher level.

I make hard maps sometimes, it's enjoyable

I like playing them and I like watching people play them, seeing who fails and who succeeds

Sometimes I can enjoy easier or slower maps, but only if I'm playing very casually... If I'm playing seriously I only care about going fast or getting a high rank, because that's what I find fun most of the time.

And I think this "well, only a small fraction of a percentage of the playerbase can enjoy them!" argument is very silly... the amount of well-made, challenging maps is very low compared to the amount of well-made, easier maps... I think it's really okay that difficult maps do exist to cater to those players that want to play them, and for everyone else, they can go find something else to play. There's plenty out there.

Anyways, this map is really difficult! At least, I hope it is (as that was my intention)

The sheer cpu shredding levels of ridiculousness that happen at the very end of that map make it the hardest map

fun fact: my pc got a
3000 combo with halftime + playback .5x
3000 combo nomod playback .5x [3000 would be the assumed max now]
2.7k combo with halftime
2000 combo nomod
1300 at the end with doubletime
900 when played without doubletime, but playback set to 2x

so this means the map is being simply too hard for auto, rather than some broken eternal spinner or the cursor getting stuck on a slider while notes appear around it. I've never seen this happen even on the vuvuzela map and centipede map where auto seems to hit those circles easily.

I believe this also depends on the processing power of the computer involved too, as well. You could use the last part of this map to determine how 'good' your computer is at Osu!. I guess my computer caps out at about 65.7 cookiezi's

Here's a post I made somewhere else now can this thread /rip for real. It's just the same joke being posted on every page along with the occasional person who has no clue. Seriously if you're going to lock other threads ( t/243653/start=0 ) for being answered then I don't see why this isn't locked.

Alright well excluding tag4 maps (including them utage would be the hardest to pass and would tie with some other tag4's for hardest to FC) then I'd say the hardest to pass map that is ranked is indeed four dimensions. I'm meant to be fucking baller at streams and STILL have only 5 clears on four dimensions after over 1300 attempts at the map. I have passed all the other "hard" maps numerous time and pretty much with ease. Image material, scarlet rose, rainbow dash, atama, big black etc are all very easy to pass compared to 4d. The hardest map to FC that isn't tag is probably shotgun symphony but I'll exclude that because it's only hard due to shitty mapping. This leaves us with a few choices for "hardest proper map to fc". I'd say it's between rainbow dash likes girls, image material, and four dimensions. Narrowing it down further because 4d has been fced multiple times be 3 people we're left with the conclusion that it's between rainbow dash and image material. The difficulty with FCing image material is entirely down to the length which means that if you want the hardest raw map with the hardest to fc patterns then rainbow dash is your map. If we're talking unranked maps then the hardest passed map ever was probably hatsune miku no shoushitsu (original ar9 version) (here's the play, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sN6oznC_yqk ).
