You know, the point is, Ellie Goulding - Burn by Ultimate is an OUTSTANDING map, it is INCREDIBLY good and fun.
I say that as a mapper and modder.

But when I'm actually playing I strive to become better. And since I won't improve all that much from playing that map, since I can already FC it, I most likely won't play it except for some random plays when F2 spits it out and I'm like "oh that map, might as well play it rn" after ranking on it.

Idk, I know more people who are hanging on hards for about 1 year than people who are playing really difficult stuff to improve themselves. Anyway, you don't need to care about what people prefer to play. And you don't have the right to complain about it. It's their business and you have to deal with it.

People are playing with different intentions, that's a fact. So get used to it.

For me, map quality means that the map is fun, to be fun it has to be challenging. But that's just me, even if you submit the best map ever and get it ranked if it's very easy I'm gonna call it BORING.

Some people just don't have fun by playing easy stuff, that's it.

The biggest issue is that making a hard map that fits well is SO hard.

If I listed all the hard but actually impressively done maps, my list would be rather short. It's not that people don't want to follow the song, they just can't.



EDIT: And they never could, the only difference now is that there are more people who want hard maps in 2013.

80% active players and players who CAN play insane maps (what mean that they can play hard and calm maps).

I didnt mean of course these 3,409,000 players where most isnt active ; )

i find fast maps rather boring, unless they're mapped to the flow/fits in with the song. No map should ever have to use some crazy full screen jumps.

@BD you're only focusing on the negatives which is why so much h8 for 2013

Well, you're acting currently like your age.
You have to keep in mind that the standards now are higher than before 3 years trhough players like the Top50 and mapper like you (Big Black, Airman etc.).
Still can't understand why there's so much hate for people who want improve these days. Especially when they have fun with playing the game on a higher level.

I make hard maps sometimes, it's enjoyable

I like playing them and I like watching people play them, seeing who fails and who succeeds

Sometimes I can enjoy easier or slower maps, but only if I'm playing very casually... If I'm playing seriously I only care about going fast or getting a high rank, because that's what I find fun most of the time.

And I think this "well, only a small fraction of a percentage of the playerbase can enjoy them!" argument is very silly... the amount of well-made, challenging maps is very low compared to the amount of well-made, easier maps... I think it's really okay that difficult maps do exist to cater to those players that want to play them, and for everyone else, they can go find something else to play. There's plenty out there.

Anyways, this map is really difficult! At least, I hope it is (as that was my intention)

The sheer cpu shredding levels of ridiculousness that happen at the very end of that map make it the hardest map

fun fact: my pc got a
3000 combo with halftime + playback .5x
3000 combo nomod playback .5x [3000 would be the assumed max now]
2.7k combo with halftime
2000 combo nomod
1300 at the end with doubletime
900 when played without doubletime, but playback set to 2x

so this means the map is being simply too hard for auto, rather than some broken eternal spinner or the cursor getting stuck on a slider while notes appear around it. I've never seen this happen even on the vuvuzela map and centipede map where auto seems to hit those circles easily.

I believe this also depends on the processing power of the computer involved too, as well. You could use the last part of this map to determine how 'good' your computer is at Osu!. I guess my computer caps out at about 65.7 cookiezi's
