How long did it take you to pass Insane songs?

From my experience, when I began Osu using my mouse, I barely could've passed insanes with Mouse acceleration on. Once my friend told me to take it off, I started doing insanes like they were Hards ._.

Though, that was because I used a cheap normal mouse that came with my pc. When I told my friend who has a pro gaming mouse to check it off. He said it dosen't help, and fucks him up or something like that. So I think Mouse acceleration only works for people with normal mouses.

edit; oh and btw, I havent used my mouse in 6 months, but when i play with it to have fun..I can also do Lunatic AR9 maps with a few misses...so I'm just saying..you need to get a bunch or some experience before you start passing insane songs. It really dosen't matter what device you use, just how much time you spend with it, and the experience you gain from playing the game.

I like how time taken to pass Insanes can get completely derailed into something like mouse. The bottomline for mouse users is, turn off whatever pointer prediction your system has for the mouse (not acceleration).

Now, back to topic.

I've answered my part, so here's a tip. If you want to pass Insanes in the shortest amount of time possible, spent as much time possible on as many harder-than-your-current-skill-level maps as possible while taking that time to experiment on different playstyles and gaming philosophies. Once you get that drilled and secured in your head you should be in good stead to pass Insanes just for the fun of it.

Yes, osu!'s settings simply allows for decimal points on the cursor's position, making the use of values other than 1.0x more accurate.

When I started osu!, I played a small amount of easy maps before moving to hard maps. I remember the last hard map I ever played was Nehanshika. After that I swapped to tablet + keyboard and my accuracy started going down, but eventually I became better and reached my current (93.39%) accuracy. I guess if I were to estimate, it would have taken me about 1.5-2 months before I started insanes. I mostly stick to insanes which I can pass in an effort to raise my PP though, and I'm currently playing barely passable songs (at least for me), so my PP is dropping fast.

I rarely aim for passes :I

I mostly aim for FC's which take me around 1-*** amount of retries to achieve (Insanes & stuff on DT)

Current avarage for me is 41 retries

No. Most of the time I have to retry so many times, coz I'm not easily able to FC that song with a decent accuracy.

And getting accurate results is quite important for me.

Besides, most of the map that yields a non-pass try for me are maps with ridicilous bpm & long streams. I suck at those, therefore I mostly aim for FC's on every map

if you can FC something means nothing, if you cant FC it, no matter how much you try its too hard, if you can fc it with less than 9x% acc its too hard
if you can fc it with 98+ acc its good.
ofcourse this is purely subjective, and there is no definition of when a map is too hard or too easy for you, which everybody knows ofcourse.

Around 2 weeks with the tablet I started to pass insanes (before I was getting nowhere using mouse only a week before), and I started to FC (easy) insanes around 2 weeks after that.

I could pass it mouse only in the first 6 months iirc, first B replays are in 9 months.

edit oh it was lesjuh I meant BD's diff, didn't play lesjuh's at all :p

It depends on the BPM of the song for me. I didn't start passing 200+ BPM songs on Insane until last week ... Which was 3 months after I got back into osu. Just keep playing songs that are too hard for you but not impossible and you will get there :3

About 3k playcount for easy insanes, 5k for med-hard insanes. I'd say in months but I randomly quit for months at a time so that's not really a good estimate.

I then stopped playing for months (Didn't stop playing completely but just not much...)
Then December and January 2013 I became really active.

So to my point:
Hard to Insane (not all insane songs): 7 Months

Right now though im practicing on my skill for a week now and I started to then play more and more insane songs....
But I don't save them because I'm offline :P
I do though save easy and normal songs because I play with my friends on multiplayer and they can only play easy and normal :P

It's difficult to read the damn thing and the amount of stamina you need to clear the beginning of the map is high. Even on the off chances I manage to pass the intro, my accuracy is already in the low 70s.

220 bpm triples :( the AR isnt even what makes it difficult, its way easier than the same map on ar9

Regular Insanes - Late 80s, early 90s I am here
Insane+ - Not yet
Top Tier Insane - Never

I don't really keep track of what time I start to move up difficulties, but I can remember levels pretty well. I think I started playing Easy Insanes at around 8,000+ playcount, but I'm not 100% sure. Even now I'm still practicing Regular Insanes while my other friends with a similar level are already able to play Insane with Mods (or at least a lot better than I do).

Played on a super crappy comp with a ball mouse for a year and could barely pass hards. ( Took me 3 tries to FC the tutorial song... Not to mention I couldn't see sliders with the exception of the approach circles) After quitting for a year I could pass easy insanes in two weeks. Turned off epp and could play normal/hard insanes after two more weeks.

Started at the eve of 2013, playing a few hours a week and getting 350m ranked score, i can FC easy and normal insanes with respectable accuracy.

Hoping 9 days isn't a bump.

It took me 8 days to beat the first song that I ever made it a goal to beat. It wasn't named "insane", but had an obscure name.

It took me 14 days to beat something actually named "insane" and when I did that, I beat two others on the same day.

I beat that DJ Genericname remix of "Dear You" in about 29 days. I think this was a few days after I turned off mouse accel.

I beat Gold Dust with an A after EXACTLY 2 months.

And if that's still not "insane" enough, the last landmark for me was Totsugeki! Glass no Kneesocks Hime! on Bunny Style. It took 4 months and 20ish days to pass it in general.

After about 2 weeks I could clear easier insanes. It took about a month for me to scrape through the harder ones, and now I can pretty much clear any insane (other than the ridiculous) with respectable accuracy.

I think I needed about 5-8k plays until i got my first insane map finished without failing...Can't exactly remember, I have to admit.
But still I finished this one insane map, but failed on a few hard maps.

The map difficulty is just so different from map to map o-o"

Thou' I always am happy, when I finally manage to finish a map, that I wasn't able to finish 1 or 2 months ago :3

About 2.5 months for me to beat one easy insane beatmap on standard.
The first day that I actually made a real attempt at CtB was the day that I could play insane maps.

took me about 1k-1.5k to pass insane, then almost 4.5k to get really good accuracy on said insanes, including sightreads

still terrible at streams though ( can only do 160 bpm ) but I can single tap 265 somehow

It didn't take me too long (~.5k plays), but I was playing osu!droid for a long time before that. It took me around 400 or so plays to get used to a mouse and keyboard instead of a touchscreen.

I still can't pass some streamier maps because I got used to streaming with my right hand (196bpm comfortably), but on a computer I have to stream with my off hand (186bpm, and it hurts).

I got much, much better when I turned off mouse acceleration. DO THAT.

It really depends on the player. Personally, I played on and off for a few years without devoting a whole lot of time to osu! (less than 3000 plays over two years), and I could barely pass insanes, if at all. But after recently getting a tablet and racking up over a thousand more plays with it I can FC the average insane in a few retries, and I can FC easier ones on the first read if I'm really on my game. But I've been playing rhythm games and actual instruments for almost ten years, so rhythm recognition and finger dexterity were non-issues for me; it was more about learning to read beatmaps and getting my mouse/pen hand up to snuff.

Heck if I know, like around 3 or 4 months I think. I was passing several insanes and hards, and then about 3 weeks ago I realized I can turn off mouse acceleration XD Took awhile to get use to, but it really does help ^^

Just did my first Insane today, which is my second day playing osu!. I might try different insane songs from the ones I've been doing to see I can pass more. I get close to the end of them, but not able to finish them yet :P. Improving every day with 309 play counts (Most of them are just doing the same maps over and over :P)

I started playing osu back in 2010 on a pretty crappy setup and couldn't really play the game at all. Long story short I ended up getting frustrated after about 13k plays and quit for a year. The most I could manage when I quit was passing hards nomod with an A rank. After coming back I managed to start playing insanes about 2-4 weeks after coming back at approximately 16k playcount.

I played hards on my 5th day, insanes after a week and a half. I had about 2000 hours in TF2 beforehand, so I was very comfortable with my mouse. I have a natural sense of rhythm, too.

2 months. 4mo's for harder more jump oriented maps. 6-12mo's for more insane-insane maps.
It seems these days people try to rush into insane maps too quickly. My advice; keep a steady pace and don't set your expectations too high.

It took me about 2k plays for my first insane map... But then i had a rage fest and returned to obtaining PP through hard mode maps. Got bored of that and took a month and a half break from osu.

I recently got back and started practicing nothing but insane maps (since they are ridiculously fun). I have been beating insane maps left and right somehow LOL. (Soon i will be fcing them hopefully)

P.S: I also started off learning insane maps by using the no fail mod. Once you get use to the speed it gets a lot easier.
