i can spin, stream and jump well, but i got some trouble with big jumps and deathstreams "hate chipscape's one :(" and i cant tap over 105bpm

Actually now that I think about it, osu! does some weird stuff when I play with the mouse at 1.4x or higher. Stutters, goes further than supposed to. Probably not the mouses fault though.

You can easily measure it.

1) Set things so there's no acceleration or multipliers on the cursor (windows to its default (the center tick), precision off). Make sure that there are no windows open that might grab and change the speed of the cursor if you move across them.
2) Measure how far your mouse moves when you move the mouse from one side of the screen to the other in inches (left-right or up-down). Try to move as straight across as possible and be careful to stop the mouse exactly when you get to the farthest pixel.
3) The DPI should be equal to (resolution along the axis you chose / inches the mouse moved) rounded to the nearest 100 to account for inaccuracy in measurement. For example, if you're using a 1280 pixel wide screen and it takes about 1.25" to move left-right you probably have a 1000 DPI mouse.

I used this to work out that an old mouse I have is 400 DPI. It was also handy with my current mouse, because the R/G/B LEDs that mark the DPIs (800/1600/2000) were clearly different than the instructions on the package claimed... so I tested to get the order and to verify that the DPIs were correct. It was a cheap mouse, and it works well enough, so I'm not complaining.


In fact, a convenient way to combine and express many of these numbers is by the distances the mouse has to move left-right and up-down (although that's meaningless for anyone that uses precision mode). This gives a simple measure of a player's preferred dexterity level, and can be better compared with a tablet player's box preference.

Currently, my mouse settings (no precision, naturally) give a 0.71" x 0.53" (18mm x 13.5mm) box (but I'm messing around with it again).

You said you played on your table. Grab a cloth/rubber surface to play on (mouse pad were designed for mice).

This is sometimes called mouse "acceleration". It is useful for people that want to do precision work (low speed), but still want to be able to move between windows easily (higher speed), without needing to have or use something like a multiple DPI mouse. The way this is done is by keeping the cursor speed steady at the level set when the mouse is moved slowly, but when the mouse is moved quickly, the cursor movement is accelerated... meaning that the distance required to move the cursor across the screen varies depending on how fast you move the mouse.

It's cause the previous mouse I used was a tiny ass wireless mouse, so when I switched back to a gaming mouse, it felt so weird and the Sensei has sort of huge curve at the top of it x__x. So I'm not used to it. Besides I play KB + Mouse now. o: .

4. What is the DPI of your mouse? (or what DPI you are using when playing?) 500. I started with something like 1600, reduced it to 800 and then this. It's the only way which lets me control the cursor properly. Streams are much easier with it.
5. What kind of mouse you are using? Logitech G9x.
6. What is your osu!'s screen resolution? Usually, it's 1024*768
7. Do you prefer fullscreen or windowed mode? Windowed, but fullscreen's a fun gimmick and my new build can actually run the game at full screen.
8. How do you hold/grip your mouse? I try to palm grip with the huge ID grip, but if I'm struggling with a map, then I'll change to the small precision grip and claw my hand like I have leprosy. It usually ends up being both though.
9. What is your mousepad? (or where do you place your mouse?) Hard pad--SteelSeries 4HD. Shame it kills my mouse's feet, but it feels just right and never moves.
10. What are your problems/issues while you're playing? (e.g can't spin well, that jumps, streams...) Usually jumps which are unreasonably large and also spinners. Moreover, maps which don't have enough breaks and use too much of one part of the screen make me run out of space very quickly.

10. What are your problems/issues while you're playing? Hand/finger cramps on overly long and fast streams (matter of training), streams with notes placed too far away. Jumps stopped being a problem after fine-tuning dpi (was 2000).

i've been playing mouse only since Frizz925 told me to use these setting and i love it :) (also he told me this setting is some kind artificial 450-500dpi) my skin of choice is kriers' skin, TaNa's or mix of TaNa's & kriers' (lol)
and now my tablet is only used for drawing ;_;

10. Mouse: Thou shalt not pass!, yep, small cheap mouse is my problem when playing, sometimes it make me miss a jump, not sliding properly when streaming etc.

I'm currently saving money to buy Elephant Dragunov or Razer Abyssus if i can. I just need a better mouse.

4. What is the DPI of your mouse? (or what DPI you are using when playing?): I could not figure this out. But for sure it's a pretty low DPI (with Windows max speed the cursor moves a bit slowly, compared to other mouses I had)
5. What kind of mouse you are using? Emachines Ps/2 Optical Mouse (Nothing special)
6. What is your osu!'s screen resolution? 1336x768
7. Do you prefer fullscreen or windowed mode? Fullscreen, but I find the spinners easier in windowed mode :o
8. How do you hold/grip your mouse? Huh.. One finger in each side, one finger in each button, and one finger in the wheel xD (anyway I don't use the mouse buttons)
9. What is your mousepad? (or where do you place your mouse?): In a scribbled paper (It's better than the osu! mousepad)
10. What are your problems/issues while you're playing? (e.g can't spin well, that jumps, streams...): Maybe I have a bit of trouble with the spinners, but generally I play very well with this settings.

It was an old feature which is now removed and it's now forced enabled which means it's always on.

1. My windows pointer speed is 7 out of 11. However, I did use the MarkC mouse fix which removes ALL mouse acceleration, EVERYWHERE. Really helps a ton.

3. What's precision mode? I keep hearing stuff about "dimming" and precision, but I could not find these anywhere.

lol I was thinking about this just the other day! Trouble is I'll have to find an old trackball mouse so I can just removed the ball and use it for clicking. I've tried to fix another mouse to the table using blue tag but it still moves and interferes with my cursor movement.

you need a fancy gaming mouse, and 200dpi is a good number for high level mouse only (6/11)

(any higher is too much, js)

So I just discovered something: The Razer DeathAdder 3G and 3.5G mice have acceleration issues unless they're set to 1800dpi and 125Hz (even though the 3.5G goes up to 3500dpi/1000Hz). And it's too high for me, so I'm SOL. :(
EDIT: Thought I discovered something about Windows pointer speed, but I guess I was wrong. 6/11 it is then.

streams, but they are the usual problem for mouse users, sometimes I do them with my left hand

That's not true, update your drivers and firmware, Synapse doesn't have acceleration problems

That's not true, update your drivers and firmware, Synapse doesn't have acceleration problems
It's not an issue with Synapse, it's the mouse itself. The 3500 model has a negative acceleration issue at anything other than 1800. I've seen several complaints about it, and done a lot of tests on it (as in, I didn't play osu! seriously for more than 2 weeks after getting the mouse because I was adjusting settings), and it's definitely there. They fixed it on the new 6400 model, but I don't really want to spend money on that one so soon after getting this one.
BTW, I picked up a 2001 Microsoft mouse for free recently, and it's more precise than my DeathAdder at 400dpi.

If you really think I'm lying, set your DeathAdder to 400dpi and go into MSpaint. Draw large circles with the mouse without lifting, and try to follow the same path each time. The mouse will slowly physically shift forward and left as you draw, even if you're being accurate on-screen. If there wasn't any acceleration, then the mouse shouldn't move away at all.

4. What is the DPI of your mouse? (or what DPI you are using when playing?) Mouse DPI is 8200. When playing, ~4100 DPI is used.
5. What kind of mouse you are using? Corsair Vengeance® M65
6. What is your osu!'s screen resolution? 1920x1080
7. Do you prefer fullscreen or windowed mode? Fullscreen.
