Honestly, these will vary greatly from person to person - I'm fairly certain that there is no 'magic combination' that will make somebody a great mouse-only player. >_>

10. What are your problems/issues while you're playing? (e.g can't spin well, that jumps, streams...) No real problems, but it can be tricky to place it in a comfortable way.

Not all wireless mouses necessarily have a delay. Maybe if it's a year or two old, but these days, they usually don't. I'm using a wireless with 0ms delay.

I never experienced a delay with my wireless mouse. There may be a delay, but it's so low that it's not noticeable.

Any particular reason you find them horrible? Dimensions are default, osu sensitivity is default, windows enhanced precision is required to be off for RTS gaming. If I can't physically reach the distance between two notes in enough time, the best solution is adjusting myself to a higher sensitivity. Interested to know which aspect of my settings you're specifically criticising, seeing as sensitivity is a personal preference.

It could be a misunderstanding in wether you decided to use mouse precision in windows or not. In this post, you tell me you turned it off, which is fair enough. In the other post, you claimed to have enabled the "enhance pointer precision" toggle in windows.
In any case, doing that isn't ideal for any kind of mouse play as it makes muscle memory much more complex.

The main reason why you struggle with reaching the distance between two notes is because you haven't been playing enough yet.
Increasing dpi will perhaps solve that problem faster than just training with your physical abilites, but over time, this will make you lose a great amount of precision and it will make you struggle with smaller hitcircles later on as you progress as a player.

Lastly, yes it is all preference, but play styles all have pros and cons and even though good players will adjust to about any setting, it's important to focus on the settings that pay off the most as an end product.

Oh, you're correct, that's a mistake on my behalf. Enhanced pointer precision is always off. In regards to sensitivity, as long as the dpi doesn't go beyond the stage where pixelskipping becomes an issue, I can't imagine high dpi having negative effects in the long run if I adjust properly to the sensitivity. I have indeed only picked up Osu recently, but a lot of the technique will carry over from RTS gaming, which I've been doing for years.

low dpi, around default sensitivity, enchance pointer precision off and you're pretty much good to go, the rest depends on you

Because I've played 450 dpi for so long, it doesn't feel hard at all. Jumping across the screen is muscle memory and reading skills.
You can improve at jumps like these just by playing them regularly!

450's a cool number.
I play at 400, and it really doesn't even seem like I'm moving my mouse much for screenwide jumps. This probably means I can lower my sensitivity even more.

I actually have no recollection of ever bringing it up to 7/11, when 6/11 is Windows default. But I've gotten used to it for programs outside of osu! so this may be a tad more difficult than changing osu! sens.

I don't notice anything by using it either. Apparently it's a bug fixing toggle and it's gonna be toggled on as default with osz2 afaik

Also during long runs,after fast spinners with sudden hitcircles I lose um..balance on the mouse. Also streams. The worst of them for me are those going from left to right.
Also I'm using Windows precision and when I tried to switch it off and exchange it for osu's I noticed an increase in precision,but the spinners became horrible (450 > 250). So um... Am I the only one having issues without Windows' precision,or am I just used to it :/ ?

10. Jumps. Though, after about a week of playing, it isn't much of a problem anymore. I used to play with keyboard and mouse (same settings, but 2000 DPI) but recently switched over to mouse-only; now I have a lot more control while playing osu. Low sensitivity/low DPI feels very comfortable for me.

Actually now that I think about it, osu! does some weird stuff when I play with the mouse at 1.4x or higher. Stutters, goes further than supposed to. Probably not the mouses fault though.

You can easily measure it.

1) Set things so there's no acceleration or multipliers on the cursor (windows to its default (the center tick), precision off). Make sure that there are no windows open that might grab and change the speed of the cursor if you move across them.
2) Measure how far your mouse moves when you move the mouse from one side of the screen to the other in inches (left-right or up-down). Try to move as straight across as possible and be careful to stop the mouse exactly when you get to the farthest pixel.
3) The DPI should be equal to (resolution along the axis you chose / inches the mouse moved) rounded to the nearest 100 to account for inaccuracy in measurement. For example, if you're using a 1280 pixel wide screen and it takes about 1.25" to move left-right you probably have a 1000 DPI mouse.

I used this to work out that an old mouse I have is 400 DPI. It was also handy with my current mouse, because the R/G/B LEDs that mark the DPIs (800/1600/2000) were clearly different than the instructions on the package claimed... so I tested to get the order and to verify that the DPIs were correct. It was a cheap mouse, and it works well enough, so I'm not complaining.


In fact, a convenient way to combine and express many of these numbers is by the distances the mouse has to move left-right and up-down (although that's meaningless for anyone that uses precision mode). Currently, my mouse settings (no precision, naturally) give a 0.71" x 0.53" (18mm x 13.5mm) box (but I'm messing around with it again).

This is sometimes called mouse "acceleration". It is useful for people that want to do precision work (low speed), but still want to be able to move between windows easily (higher speed), without needing to have or use something like a multiple DPI mouse. The way this is done is by keeping the cursor speed steady at the level set when the mouse is moved slowly, but when the mouse is moved quickly, the cursor movement is accelerated... meaning that the distance required to move the cursor across the screen varies depending on how fast you move the mouse.

It's cause the previous mouse I used was a tiny ass wireless mouse, so when I switched back to a gaming mouse, it felt so weird and the Sensei has sort of huge curve at the top of it x__x. So I'm not used to it. Besides I play KB + Mouse now. o: .

Curious who the top ranked mouse only wo/keyboard player is

So the questions are:
1. What is your Windows mouse pointer speed? 6/11 (anything else creates mouse acceleration which is bad)
2. What is your osu!'s mouse sensitivity? (default)
3. Did you enable the "Precision Mode" in osu! ? No
4. What is the DPI of your mouse? (or what DPI you are using when playing?) 1500 (sensitivity set to 6)
5. What kind of mouse you are using? Razer Lachesis
6. What is your osu!'s screen resolution? 1024x768
7. Do you prefer fullscreen or windowed mode? Windowed
8. How do you hold/grip your mouse? Palm
9. What is your mousepad? (or where do you place your mouse?) Razer Goliathus, I put my elbow on the desk the mouse is a forearms length away
10. What are your problems/issues while you're playing? (e.g can't spin well, that jumps, streams...) struggle to effectively reach the top bottom left right targets from one mouse position

It was an old feature which is now removed and it's now forced enabled which means it's always on.

1. My windows pointer speed is 7 out of 11. However, I did use the MarkC mouse fix which removes ALL mouse acceleration, EVERYWHERE. Really helps a ton.
2. Default.
3. What's precision mode? I keep hearing stuff about "dimming" and precision, but I could not find these anywhere.
4. Not sure.
5. A basic run-of-the-mill Logitech mouse.
6. 1920x1080
7. Fullscreen
8. Like a normal person. I place my hand on the mouse, my pointer finger on LMB and my middle and ring fingers on RMB.
9. No mousepad right now.
10. I have major problems with spinning, and I can usually just barely complete a spinner.

Note: I play mouse only on slower tracks, and mouse+keyboard when I need to stream.

10. What are your problems/issues while you're playing? (e.g can't spin well, that jumps, streams...) I used to have 3000 cpi/dpi, and since I turned it down to 2500 I can control the mouse better... but jumps across the screen are hard cause my muscle memory isn't there yet

the other problems are just timing issues (for streams, cause I just mash) or just getting used to reading high bpm+high AR songs

10. What are your problems/issues while you're playing? (e.g can't spin well, that jumps, streams...) Occasionally hit my speaker which is not far from the mousepad. Otherwise there are sometimes annoying cables and crap in the way that might put me off.
