After several months of intense deliberation, the winner of the Aspire Monthly Beatmapping Contest has finally been declared, in what is possibly one of our closest (and most surprising) results so far!
Judging the staggering number of entries submitted to Aspire was no small task. The judges were faced with 118 unique entries from mappers across the globe, looking for the most creative and impressive beatmaps that they could find. In a surprise twist, Loctav and myself entered the judging panel at the last minute to cast our own appraisal on each and every map's creative vision.
In a shocking upheaval that left us utterly astonished, Charles445 broke away from a two way tie for second place between ThEBonzi and fartownik with a single point, leaving him with a cumulative score of 142 compared to the 141 of the runners up.
Honorable mentions go to Low and Damnae, who tied for third place each with a score of 140.
We were all surprised and amazed by the sheer range of entries we received, with some players utilizing clever storyboarding techniques to alter their maps dramatically, with others opting to go for huge design and placement changes that set themselves apart from their peers. So impressed, infact, that we will be considering hosting another Aspire-style MBC in the near future across a variety of genres and gamemodes. Look forward to it! We've also decided to approve the winning map for ranked play, but be warned - it is harder than possibly anything you've played yet!
