    I disagree with this one. I feel that because it is a downbeat and it is one of the more emphatic downbeats in the bridge, a little bit of ~weird flow~ is fine.

  1. Words fail to describe my actual opinion on this map, so I'll just break it down into pieces.
    1. I was once told that its good to try and look at each map from the mapper's perspective, but when a mapper's perspective is trying to essentially say "screw you" to modern mapping it becomes hard to look at the map. People who map unconventional maps (HW, fanzhen, etc) still at least acknowledge current meta and ranking criteria in certain ways, this map does no such thing.
  2. NCs.
    1. You start with NCing on the downbeat, which is completely acceptable. Consistency in NC's is the biggest thing, but all of a sudden a wild 00:10:331 (1) - NC emerges and it kind of just all goes downhill from there. Make your NCs and your patterns fall on the downbeat or make them fall under some clear pattern. You may argue that you're following the vocals with your NCs but "I'm the new kid, movin' in, getting it done and I'm" is the first vocal line. 'But Cryptic, theres a break between movin' in and getting it done!" Well theres also one between new kid and moving in so thats irrelevant. Your NCs are random and haphazard and should instead just fall on the downbeats like you started with.
  3. Rhythm
    1. I don't even really want to talk about rhythm to be honest, as its so freakin' subjective, but clearly we need to. So I don't really feel the need to cover the entire map's rhythm when I can really hone in to all the issues in the area just before the first inherited timing point. Early on in the map you need to establish what thing or things you're following. Typically you do this by using circles to emphasize a prominent thing and then sliders to emphasize a less prominent thing, but you already get that I assume. Prior to vocals coming in, your rhythm emphasizes things randomly. The slider end of 00:00:238 (1) - is emphasizing percussion which you don't map at 00:00:658 . Additionally, the slider end of 00:01:499 (4) - is hitting a strong finish which you are mapping as a slider end, even though it should be clickable. You have a guitar beat on the slider end of 00:01:920 (5) - even though you ignored that at 00:00:378 - and 00:00:938 . And you're missing the percussion you normally hit with the slider end, 00:02:200 (6) . And thats just the first measure. You see, the second measure has the exact same rhythm as the first, yet you've mapped it differently! You acknowledge the guitar beat at 00:02:621 - whereas you didn't do it at 00:00:378 - and you ignore the guitar beat at 00:04:303 - whereas you acknowledged it at 00:02:060 . This isn't something opinion-based either, in order for a map to be rankable you have to have some form of consistency whereas this has none whatsoever!

  1. Words fail to describe my actual opinion on this map, so I'll just break it down into pieces.
    1. I was once told that its good to try and look at each map from the mapper's perspective, but when a mapper's perspective is trying to essentially say "screw you" to modern mapping it becomes hard to look at the map. People who map unconventional maps (HW, fanzhen, etc) still at least acknowledge current meta and ranking criteria in certain ways, this map does no such thing.
  2. NCs.
    1. You start with NCing on the downbeat, which is completely acceptable. Consistency in NC's is the biggest thing, but all of a sudden a wild 00:10:331 (1) - NC emerges and it kind of just all goes downhill from there. Make your NCs and your patterns fall on the downbeat or make them fall under some clear pattern. You may argue that you're following the vocals with your NCs but "I'm the new kid, movin' in, getting it done and I'm" is the first vocal line. 'But Cryptic, theres a break between movin' in and getting it done!" Well theres also one between new kid and moving in so thats irrelevant. Your NCs are random and haphazard and should instead just fall on the downbeats like you started with.
  3. Rhythm
    1. I don't even really want to talk about rhythm to be honest, as its so freakin' subjective, but clearly we need to. So I don't really feel the need to cover the entire map's rhythm when I can really hone in to all the issues in the area just before the first inherited timing point. Early on in the map you need to establish what thing or things you're following. Typically you do this by using circles to emphasize a prominent thing and then sliders to emphasize a less prominent thing, but you already get that I assume. Prior to vocals coming in, your rhythm emphasizes things randomly. The slider end of 00:00:238 (1) - is emphasizing percussion which you don't map at 00:00:658 . Additionally, the slider end of 00:01:499 (4) - is hitting a strong finish which you are mapping as a slider end, even though it should be clickable. You have a guitar beat on the slider end of 00:01:920 (5) - even though you ignored that at 00:00:378 - and 00:00:938 . And you're missing the percussion you normally hit with the slider end, 00:02:200 (6) . And thats just the first measure. You see, the second measure has the exact same rhythm as the first, yet you've mapped it differently! You acknowledge the guitar beat at 00:02:621 - whereas you didn't do it at 00:00:378 - and you ignore the guitar beat at 00:04:303 - whereas you acknowledged it at 00:02:060 . This isn't something opinion-based either, in order for a map to be rankable you have to have some form of consistency whereas this has none whatsoever!

i skipped normal advanced and hard because i am just starting to realize how shit these maps are so im gonna remap some of those mainly normal and see if i can get gds for advanced and hard ok ok thanks

on a sidenote i remapped most of the chorus jumps in extra and insane so hopefully they actually look and play ok now
insane's ar is raised from 8.6 to 8.8 like it was before because i dont know why i thought that was a good idea

I think it would maybe be fine if the advanced diff had some 1/4 in it, but it doesn't, so the spike in difficulty from advanced to this diff is too high. You can of course get a second opinion on this.

Generally, I don't have much to comment on the mapset other than minor aesthetic suggestions. So let's just take that as a good thing. :^) I'll just get those specific things out of the way then.

Criteria discourages adding any additional markers like "Short Ver." or "(TV Size)" unless the original track actually contains that in the title. Since our only reputable source is pretty much coming from Wikipedia, I think you might as well just stick with "Cory in the House" and nix the TV Size.

00:35:284 (2,1) - A minor suggestion: You could rearrange some of these notes to make it so that these stack for a cleaner look aesthetically.
00:44:537 (3) - This is a little bit cramped over here, but it's not by all means uncomfortable. Maybe space it out a little more? Be conscious of the (4) if you do though.

[Hard]
00:12:294 (5,9) - Make these stack for aesthetics? I think the easiest way would be moving (9) or having the two make a compromise without ruining the flow in (5).
00:42:854 (1,2) - I felt it was kind of weird to have such close spacing when throughout the whole song you already essentially established the 1/4 spacing as somewhere around 1.7x - 2.0x distance. I don't know if you'd like to try moving this around to not have that kind of overlap, since your whole map lacked that in total.
00:44:537 (5) - And if you decide to keep (2) or something, making this stack would with the previous note would be sexy. :P

The rapping is a lot of fun at this BPM to do some creative things, and, amid pishifat-style jumps and spacing, there were some fun movement and flow throughout the map. I particularly liked [Toy]'s difficulty. The jumps felt pretty good to land through, and felt surprisingly intuitive to me. Great job on that! I appreciate the variety of styles you have, with the difficulties that focused on smaller hitcircle sizes to the general go-hog-wild kinds.

I wish I have more thorough feedback with your structure throughout the map, but I'm afraid I'm too inexperienced with that to give you a good analysis. For now, keep at it, and best of luck. :)

  2. in my opinion. major prob is distance-time concept. like a player won't know when you shuffle between 1/2 and 1/4 gaps unless a player memorize the parts. you dont have to make the distance snap constant and make the 1/2's so further part making it hard to be mapped, just that different distance spacings are needed in order to identify which gaps are 1/2 and 1/4
in insane 00:04:723 (1,2) - in extra 00:33:041 (7,1) - maybe increase the distance a little tho
and voila. other diffs are good. good luck!

  1. The overall problem i'm seeing with this diff is the amount of NCs, especially in the beggining. like for example...
  2. 00:01:219 (1,2) - for example, no real change in sound but there still an NC, I would go back and see what sounds the same where NCs are and just take them out, since having too many of them just puts emphasis on things that don't need to be emphasized.
  3. 00:18:181 (1) - Have this repeat on 00:18:322 -
  4. 00:19:583 (3) - I really think the sound here should be clickable instead of on a slider end.
  5. 00:29:256 (5,1) - Delete 5, move 1 back and extend it. A high note like that should really be clickable.
  6. 00:30:518 (1,2,3,4) - Have the spacing look something like this instead since both of those notes can be expressed better.
  7. 00:33:322 (1,2,3,4) - The way these notes are now really don't match the lyrics you're trying to map, i think sound a lot better.
  8. 00:37:247 (1,2,3,4) - I think the emphasis should be focused on 2 since it's the stronger vocal
  9. 00:39:490 (1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4) - mmmm, I would redo this pattern, I don't think it fits the rhythm very well as is.

    mm, this diff could use work. As it is now it just seems like a lot of really spaced, overmapped jumps. Try to really focus on patterns that express the rhythm then patterns that look cool, because with some of the patterns you have now they feel really out of place with the song.

  2. Beginner diff is pretty much undermapped and it should be removed, many maps got in troube becouse of diffs like that, they are just useless and dont worth nothing in the mapset.
  3. 00:24:910 - The timing points at this volume could have the same volume as before kiai, the song doesnt really change there. But if you still want to make that build up then I recommend putting the volume at least a bit higher, there is no reason for having it so low.

i dont think one note kills a player and also i always use the same spacing where there are the slow parts are amazingly obvious, and im sure everyone has heard cory at least once so they know. also that i dont want a buffed 4 star hard, plus there is a lot of preparation for it, at least a 1/2 slider or one stacked note to make sure the player knows that the spacing changes once again. but yes there are some 1/2 spacing jumps but only mainly because they arent on the slow parts, often before them

00:02:480 (2) - 1/2 slider instead and start a 1/2 slider at 00:02:761 - , 00:02:621 - you undermap that sound here but dont at 00:00:938 - when they are essentially the same is why im suggesting this you could use circles instead or whatever but i also think you should have a 1/2 slider at 00:00:798 - like the Anime diff revamped portion here
00:22:037 (2) - how come this is overmapped? it's not tho what, there's a noticeable 1/8 guitar sound here, this is in like every extra and insane diff lol

00:07:808 (1) - make this repeatonce more and then put 00:08:088 (2) - closer, 00:08:018 - no reason to undermap this imo eh, i like the pattern as it is rn due to the simplicity and the reduced spacing and i feel like adding another 1/8 would make it needlessly complex; besides the 1/8 there isn't as potent as the first three
00:28:275 (5) - 5 should be given more spacing here and nerf 4 and 6 so theyre less the pattern as it is feels fine playability wise and it's a common occurrence throughout the map so it should be ok
00:28:836 - start 1/2 slider here, music doesnt suggest a pause imo no noticeable notes play here so i'd rather just have a pause here, besides i do it 00:33:602 (1,2) - here as well
