Hi

General

too good for me
01:16:827 - ever thought spinner here would fit maybe untill 01:20:027 -
01:02:428 - maybe remove the kiai style from here to 01:04:028 -
00:34:431 - 00:28:031 - personaly think these whistles dont fit much since the bg voice is not even an instrument sound its kinda abusing to it but just my personal opinion so

Easy

00:51:229 (1,4) - try move them away so they dont slightly overlap they look unappealing
01:15:227 (1) - remove nc to be consistent with rest of the kiai

Normal

remove wide screen support
00:59:628 (2) - aimod says this object is not snapped well just move it and put it back it will snap

Hard

00:46:030 (4,3) - this stack on the arrow singe doesnt look nice maybe ctrl h 00:46:429 (1,2,3,4) - this whole pattern also create more movement to the intens part
00:50:429 (3) - how about two of 1/2 sliders would fit better cuz the vocal here 00:50:429 (3) - felt continuous
00:53:229 (3,6) - not properly stacked
00:59:628 (3,6) - same move little (3) to right to stack good 01:12:427 (3,6) - ^

Fading

00:39:930 (1) - can remove this and make 00:39:730 (9) - a repeat that would give abetter emphasize the next comping strong beat 00:40:030 (2) -
00:58:028 (4,2) - the stack ( ifound nothing so i just point out these xD)
01:10:527 - triple here maybe to be consistent it sound same as 01:04:028 (1,2,3) -
01:09:927 - 01:13:127 - can add note here

cool!!! ♥

  1. kinda think that starts of the music are early. Would you change audioleadin to 500 ~ 1,000?
  2. Removal of the widescreen support.
  3. About inherited points of normal and the easy. Because a lot of same setting exists, I think that they are unnecessary.
Fading
  1. 00:12:832 (1,2) - I feel a sense of incongruity in this pattern. I think that it is necessary to pick up a sound of the 00:13:432 - . like this 00:09:633 (1,2,3) -
  2. 00:25:131 - Because this sound is necessary, I recommend the change of the pattern of the 00:24:831 (2,3,4) -
  3. 00:39:930 (1,2) - I think that a switch is necessary if I keep consistency of nc. 00:41:530 (1,2) - 00:43:130 (1,2) - 00:44:730 (1,2) - same
  4. 00:56:029 (1) - fmm,,I don't feel need of the nc.
  5. 01:00:228 - Is the whistle necessary? It sounds like an improper sound to me.
Normal
  1. 00:59:627 (2) - An error of the slider-end is given (from Ai mod)
Easy
  1. 01:00:428 (6) - There was not the note by the former pattern 00:54:029 - . Would you remove it? Or would you add a circle to 00:54:029 - ? I recommend that I unify it.

01:02:428 - maybe remove the kiai style from here to 01:04:028 - Nice
00:34:431 - 00:28:031 - personaly think these whistles dont fit much since the bg voice is not even an instrument sound its kinda abusing to it but just my personal opinion so Yea, agreed. I redid the hitsounding here and made it simpler.

Easy

00:51:229 (1,4) - try move them away so they dont slightly overlap they look unappealing Fixed
01:15:227 (1) - remove nc to be consistent with rest of the kiai Fixed

Normal

remove wide screen support ok
00:59:628 (2) - aimod says this object is not snapped well just move it and put it back it will snap Fixed

Hard

00:46:030 (4,3) - this stack on the arrow singe doesnt look nice maybe ctrl h 00:46:429 (1,2,3,4) - this whole pattern also create more movement to the intens part I like the consistency this pattern creates, and i think theres enough time between the patterns for the overlap not to show.
00:50:429 (3) - how about two of 1/2 sliders would fit better cuz the vocal here 00:50:429 (3) - felt continuous Kinda want players to release on the last note rather than click
00:53:229 (3,6) - not properly stacked Fixed
00:59:628 (3,6) - same move little (3) to right to stack good 01:12:427 (3,6) - ^Fixed
Fading

00:39:930 (1) - can remove this and make 00:39:730 (9) - a repeat that would give abetter emphasize the next comping strong beat 00:40:030 (2) - Doublet rhythms emphasize the second note anyways, so I think this is fine.
00:58:028 (4,2) - the stack ( ifound nothing so i just point out these xD) Fix
01:10:527 - triple here maybe to be consistent it sound same as 01:04:028 (1,2,3) - I want some diversity here.
01:09:927 - 01:13:127 - can add note here These should be calm "pauses" i the music, which is why i didn't include the 1/4's here.

hi from a super late m4m xd, have a tiny break in assignment stuff so i can mod this earlier than i thought i would be able to

this song is so good :d

[General]

00:12:832 - any reason for no hitsound on here, or on any of the piano bits in the music/vocals? it feels a little weird that this section up until 00:19:232 - has no hitsounds when they are basically the same (applies to all diffs)

[Easy]

ya (although i agree with previous mods that 00:54:029 - this isn't mapped and their isnt a consistent gap anywhere else in the kiais to help match it and could be considered a little bit 'odd', but the justification given is good)

[Normal]

00:22:432 (1,2) - nazi fix parallel
00:53:629 (3) - 00:55:229 (3,4) - maybe swap these two around? since their a is a loud 'hey' on the slider end of 00:53:629 (3) - which i would argue is more significant in the music than the chime like thing happening on 00:55:229 (3,4) - that isn't mapped, it would also make for a slightly more interesting consistency pattern (if thats the right way to word it? idk) and also be consistent with how you mapped the 'hey' here 00:56:829 (3,4) -
01:00:028 (3) - i feel like this slider end should be clickable considering the vocals start here and you seem to put a lot of emphasis on them in the next two combos

[Hard]

d o u b l e t i m e

00:57:229 (6) - i kinda wanna see this changed into two circles to match the variation in the drum pattern, but doing that would lose the consistency you have with matching the synth patterning so its up to you rly
01:12:427 (3,6) - nazi fix stack

ya

[Fading]

alan walker

00:24:031 (1) - mayb it would be cool to slow the sv on this slider to match the bass wub drop thing? idk
00:49:629 (1) - maybe extennd to be 1/2 to match the vocal?

It's time for everyone's favourite! METADATA YAYYY!!

While checking Ascendance's ctb set I started looking at the metadata and wanted to come here to try and correct it. Currently, the metadata seems to be taken from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0khZ8h5szik

But if you check on official sources (Vanic and Spirix's soudclouds) this is incorrect. https://soundcloud.com/spirixmusic/samurai https://soundcloud.com/djvanic/vanic-katy-tiz-samurai

If you go by Spirix's metadata, it should be like this
Artist: Vanic
Title: Samurai (Spirix Remix)
Or since the remix got the original metadata wrong (the Ft. Katy Tiz is missing) you could also go and mix the two sources to get:
Artist: Vanic Ft. Katy Tiz
Title: Samurai (Spirix Remix)

I think either way could work, even though the first option seems to be better. Both of them are better than current metadata so I guess I'll let you decide or ask someone else what to do

First one is correct

While I'm here why not mod the diffs since the song is pretty good
[

  1. 00:01:633 (2) - Maybe make this slider reverse and have a circle on 00:02:833 - a sliderend on this isn't great
  2. 00:31:231 (2,3) - Very very nitpicky but these could be lined up better
  3. 01:04:028 (1,1) - Would look better if these were angled like 01:07:228 (1) -
[
Hard

  1. 00:02:233 - There should be a circle here. You could also move 00:02:433 (2) - to 00:02:233 - and have a circle on 00:02:833 - Either way is better
  2. 00:12:832 (1) - Move the right white anchor here to the curve isn't as jagged. Or you could just copy 00:17:632 (1) -
  3. 00:21:432 - Circle missing here
  4. 00:49:629 (1) - Could make this note stand out by distancing it more. Nit sure if you'll want to break the symmetry tho
[
Fading

  1. 00:11:233 (1) - Slider is nearly offscreen and goes over the hit error bar. Consider moving it up a bit
  2. 00:17:632 (1) - Woudl work better if this slider was the same as 00:16:032 (1) - This way you'll have 2 pairs of identical sliders
  3. 00:54:529 (2) - There's no sound on this note. The high pitched voice at this moment seems to be in 1/6 so a triple doesn't really work
I didn't find anything on the easy. Good luck with the map. It's quite fun

can you try replacing the silenced sliderslide for a silenced slidertick for the very beginning of the song for easy/normal? to me, it would be way more professional if the ticks would be muted because they have no real impact at all in the music

easy

00:12:834 (1,2,1,2) - hitsounds on these? would be nice if you could add some drumwhistle or a softclap because 00:19:234 (1) - is hitsounded and it has a much more weaker beat
00:45:034 (1) - hitsound is waaaaay to loud, consider reducing it to 35%~40%
00:54:034 - not really getting why is this beat getting ignored. like i thought it would be consistent somewhere else on the kiai, but the truth is it's the only ignored beat. for example, you could have done it 00:56:834 (5) - 01:06:434 (4) - 01:12:834 (4) - on these places as well
01:09:634 (4) - whistle seems really unnecessary to me
01:16:434 (5) - make it consistent with the hard/insane, this kinda deserves to be a slider, and despite the weird snapping it might have it really is just a click, there is no need to even move the cursor due to leniency

normal

00:12:834 - check hitsounding again on these, applies to other difficulties as well
00:28:034 (4,1) - minor, but for the sake of visuals it would be nice if you could separate them further as they have the same distance as 00:28:034 (4,5) - (and also because the movement to (4,1) is way more comfortable than the one on (4,5))
00:45:034 (1) - same!!
01:09:634 (4) - i didn't mention this slider on easy because to me it was cool enough, but on normal you could have definitely tried some variation instead of using the same shape and rhythm as 01:08:034 (4) - 01:11:234 (4) - (basically surrounding combos) when 01:09:634 (4) - is clearly different, rhytmically speaking. what about a repeat slider instead?
01:16:434 (3) - same!!

hard

being honest, this feels like a light insane. everything felt just fine until 00:51:234 - where it turns into a massive circle-spam fiesta creating a huge difficulty spike from the normal to this difficulty. this difficulty contains the same amount of circles/objects than the insane difficulty and also has some weird angles that could be way harder than you think for the typical hard-type level of player such as 00:55:834 (7,1,2,3) - 01:01:434 (3,4,5) - 01:11:834 (7,1,2) - etc.

consider making a lower difficulty using less circles with a more balanced number of sliders

00:42:834 (5) - is this onscreen, right? i think it is, but some confirmation from you would be lit
00:46:834 (2) - i hope you are aware that this should be 1/12, but considering how the whole music is built around imma call this a mistake and forgive it because song is properly timed

insane

00:57:634 (1,2) - 1/6 tbh. also why is this inconsistent with 01:00:834 (1) - ?
while rechecking i found a lot of things that should be 1/6, 00:54:434 (1,2) - is another example. please, double check the snappings because they are more fucked up than what we think!

Applied to all diffs.

00:45:034 (1) - hitsound is waaaaay to loud, consider reducing it to 35%~40% Fixed on Easy + Normal since the spinner build up doesn't really allow a lot of hitsound volume. Keeping on Hard/Insane cuz there are actually objects there so the whistle doesn't stand out as much.
00:54:034 - not really getting why is this beat getting ignored. like i thought it would be consistent somewhere else on the kiai, but the truth is it's the only ignored beat. for example, you could have done it 00:56:834 (5) - 01:06:434 (4) - 01:12:834 (4) - on these places as well True. Fixed.
01:09:634 (4) - whistle seems really unnecessary to me I think it kinda fits with the vocals. I removed it for now, but i'm keeping on the other diffs cuz I think it compliments the rhythm choices there. Here i guess it's not necessary.
01:16:434 (5) - make it consistent with the hard/insane, this kinda deserves to be a slider, and despite the weird snapping it might have it really is just a click, there is no need to even move the cursor due to leniency I think the 3/4 repeat would confuse people more than anything, and it kinda ends the map on a poor note imo.

00:28:034 (4,1) - minor, but for the sake of visuals it would be nice if you could separate them further as they have the same distance as 00:28:034 (4,5) - (and also because the movement to (4,1) is way more comfortable than the one on (4,5)) I think the triangle pattern here is fine to read.
00:45:034 (1) - same!! Fixed
Hmm good point. I did a 1/2 slider + circle instead.
01:16:434 (3) - same!! Same as Easy

hard

being honest, this feels like a light insane. everything felt just fine until 00:51:234 - where it turns into a massive circle-spam fiesta creating a huge difficulty spike from the normal to this difficulty. this difficulty contains the same amount of circles/objects than the insane difficulty and also has some weird angles that could be way harder than you think for the typical hard-type level of player such as 00:55:834 (7,1,2,3) - 01:01:434 (3,4,5) - 01:11:834 (7,1,2) - etc. My reasoning is that I actively use 1/2 snaps in the Easy diff, even if they are just 1/2 repeats. As the difficulty progresses, the Normal's kiai uses a lot of 1/2 circle clicking rhythms, so I think its acceptable for the Hard to have a denser rhythm like this. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this, since the rhythms used on Easy and Normal are (imo) denser than typical Easies and Normals. I think it helps balance the Insane which contains all those 1/4 kicksliders (even though the clicking rhythm is still largely 1/2).

consider making a lower difficulty using less circles with a more balanced number of sliders

00:42:834 (5) - is this onscreen, right? i think it is, but some confirmation from you would be lit Yep, its on screen.
00:46:834 (2) - i hope you are aware that this should be 1/12, but considering how the whole music is built around imma call this a mistake and forgive it because song is properly timed Yea using 1/12 would be really weird here haha.

insane

00:57:634 (1,2) - 1/6 tbh. also why is this inconsistent with 01:00:834 (1) - ? For this and other instances. I simplified to 1/4 because the kiai is built around 1/4 rhythms, and I don't think the 1/6 are that easy to hear. From testplays, people didn't have trouble with the triplets, and I think simplifying 1/6 snaps to 1/4 is acceptable, but we can discuss this further because you have a point too.
while rechecking i found a lot of things that should be 1/6, 00:54:434 (1,2) - is another example. please, double check the snappings because they are more fucked up than what we think! ^

Thanks Yuii! Applied basically everything on lower diffs and carried the suggestions over to Hard/Insane where applicable. Let me know what you think of my reasoning for Hard/Insane ^^.

we have fixed the issue that was worrying me with the spread, basically simplified a lot of circles into sliders for the sake of the spread and left 01:04:034 - that section untouched because normal uses the same technique of increasing the density
we also buffed the ar slightly

all hitsounds are being used by the way!

if you are wondering about the 1/4s instead of 1/6s, read monstrata's reply. i'm totally fine with the simplification, using 1/6s would actually be quite rude and mapping them as circles would affect accuracy a whole lot
