As of now, we only get the option for sliders to change between a styles, and to change the color of the track and border. I understand why fully skinnable sliders would be an issue, but I have a few suggestions that would improve the quality of skins in general:
1. Allow for transparency of slidertracks and sliderborders to be changed.
For sliders, it is not as important for them to be immediately noticed; they can be a darker color and will hold no loss in clarity while reading. So, a more transparent slider overall would make the game easier to read and understand, because consecutive circles would be less obstructed by an opaque slider. A fully transparent slidertrack is an interesting idea, and would be a much wanted aspect for the lots of people who play with minimalist skins.
2. Allow slidertracks to be a solid color with a new slider style.
If the slidertrack is set to 0,0,0, my intention is for the slidertrack to be black, but there are are still white parts on the slider. The current selection of slider styles is extremely restrictive, and does not fit the theme of the majority of skins made. Allowing for a solid color would give a more universal, and better fitting option to skins. This also mirrors the intention of more transparent sliders, because a solid, flat color would be less distracting than what is available.
3. Allow for the width of sliderborders to be changed (inward only).
This would give a new dimension to the possibility of themes within skins. A wider sliderborder could make only a thin part of the slidertrack to be visible, and would also increase readability for sliders that go in weird directions or overlap, i.e.BD's Piranha fish slider. Having them be more thin would be nice if my hitcircles have a thin outer circle, because it would create more consistency. Again, less distracting.
Sliders are just as important to gameplay as the hitcircles themselves. Hitcircles can be modified to an incredible extent to make the user better able to read maps, and the restrictions on sliders is flat out frustrating. Sliders don't have anywhere near the same versatility as the rest of the elements.
Most of us use skins that are easy to understand, unlike the hilariously distracting default skin that no one uses. This game is much more fun to play when you can actually tell what's going on. I think everyone would appreciate changes like this.
