Hello, quick M4M.
[General]
I am fairly certain that you have the source wrong for this one. The new version of Look to the Sky in DDRMAX1 is actually the (True Color Mix), which this one is not. This is the original mix, and although it appears in this game, it is really from Dance Dance Revolution 5thMix. Therefore, it would be much more appropriate to make the source Dance Dance Revolution 5thMix, as this is the first game that the song appeared. Daiguren's source is also incorrect since it should be 5thMix instead of 6thMix.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDRMAX_Dan ... tion#MusicIt might be better to name the difficulties Beginner, Light, Standard, and Heavy. To me, I associate Oni with Taiko in this game, so this might be confusing to people.
00:28:303 - lower the volume here back down to 70-80%. The music gets a lot quieter, and at 100% the hitsounds are much too loud.
I personally would like this better if you silenced the soft-sliderslide. Right now in quiet parts, the noise is quite overwhelming.
[Light]
HP+1 AR+1
00:03:446 (1,2,3) - you could move (1) so that it is a reflection of 00:00:875 (2). Then if you adjust the placement of (2,3) you can make it so that (3) is symmetrical across the x-axis. I think it would look nicer.
00:09:446 (3,1) - This blanket could be improved
00:12:875 (3) - remove finish, add whistle. Would fit much better and would be consistent with the rest of your hitsounding here.
00:13:732 - maybe add a circle here instead and move the spinner to 00:14:160 (have it end at the same spot). The reason for this is so that you can have an object on that really heavy finish sound which I think would be nicer.
00:24:018 (3,4) - maybe get rid of this overlap. I think it would look a bit cleaner if you did so.
00:26:589 (1,2,3) - probably would be preferable to avoid stacks on your easiest diff since they can be a bit confusing to time with the low AR.
00:29:160 (2,3,4,1) - These could look really nice if you tidied them up a bit. Make it so that the start and end circles have the same y value so that they are more balanced horizontally.
00:38:589 (2,2) - try to get these to not overlap I think, would be better.
00:54:446 (4,1) - shift these over so that (1) can be symmetrical across the y-axis
01:08:589 (1,2,3,4) - I think these would play a bit better if you made it so that (2), (3), and (4) were all a bit further to the left so that the leftward movement of the sliders can be followed from slider to slider for better flow.
01:15:446 (1) - make this symmetrical across the y-axis
01:18:875 (3) - ^, these look like they were made to do so, so cleaning this up will make these look better.
01:23:160 (3) - center this to match with the symmetry of 01:22:303 (2,1) -
01:25:732 (3) - make symmetrical across the y-axis
just as a quick last note: I might have missed some, but go and check through this diff to manage your symmetry properly. It will make the diff look a lot nicer.
[Standard]
00:00:875 (3) - move this to (68,172), then re-copy+paste 00:00:017 (1,2,3) - to 00:01:732. Doing so will allow you to put 00:01:732 (1) - at the center of the screen.
00:03:232 (4,1) - angle (4) with the endpoint at (320,284). Move (1) to 00:03:875 (1) - (192,284). This way, you can have a nice bit of symmetry, and t
the downward angle of (4) will flow better due to the left-downward motion of 00:02:589 (3). Readjust the positioning of 00:04:303 (2) afterward.
00:06:875 (1,2) - I think it would be nicer for these to be less curved so that they are more similar to 00:08:589 (1,2). I think it would look nicer also.
00:13:089 (3,4) - These would play better if you angled them downward rather than upward. The flow from (2) and the flow to the next slider would make more sense and feel better to play.
00:16:732 (4,1) - either fix this stack or offset them more to make it more obvious that you don't want these to stack.
00:19:518 (6,7) - these would flow better if you angled them to the right instead of the left. You wouldn't have to adjust much either since there is only one more circle before the spinner so just move that one to the right as well.
00:23:160 (1) - make this symmetrical across the y-axis.
00:25:732 (5,1) - switch the NCs here. It would make more sense because it would move the NC to the downbeat, and you can make this stack the same color which would look better as well.
00:36:018 (3) - This would play better if you moved it forward so it is to the left of the sliderend of 00:35:160 (2). This section feels very flowy thanks to the music, so doing this will make for a better and more natural feeling flow which would match the music better and be more enjoyable overall.
00:37:303 (4) - I'd say NC here for consistency. Right now this combo is too long anyway.
00:39:446 (1,2,3,1) - This looks really crowded at the moment, and also the rhythm doesn't feel right to me. Right now you have a slider leading into the downbeat which is weaker feeling, and the arrangement has a bunch of overlaps that don't look so great. Firstly, I suggest doing this rhythm.
This feels better because you get to hit the strong slider on the downbeat and the finish, which will play and feel a lot better. Here's a quick example of how I did this part, which has the reverse flow from (1,2,3), a stack made by 00:39:018 (6,3), and then the stacked slider on the end of (1) (00:41:160 NC here of course).
00:42:875 (5) - NC here and remove NC at 00:43:732 (1). This makes a lot more sense as it moves the NC to the downbeat and is overall more consistent with the rest of your comboing.
00:51:875 (2,3) - you can adjust this to have a better blanket. I believe in you!
00:55:303 (2,3,4) - I personally think this would play better and fit the music better if you unstacked these so that the player could flow into them rather than coming to a stop.
00:56:589 (5) - NC for consistency
00:59:160 (3) - remove finish, add whistle. Too much finish for this part I think.
01:10:732 (5) - This would play better if you moved it to somewhere around (56,160). The forward motion from 01:09:875 (2,3,4) - makes it so that the flow to the next circle should be forward also.
01:17:160 (3) - I think it would be nice to have this blanket 01:16:732 (2) like 01:15:446 (1) does.
01:17:160 (3,1) - be sure to make this stack proper also.
01:25:303 (5,2) - stack these, would look tidier.
[Daiguren's Heavy]
00:00:660 (2,3) - I think it would be nice to have these angle out a bit. I think they play a bit better that way.
00:08:589 (1) - white midpoint to (239,189) and red anchor to (227,240) for a cleaner blanket.
00:12:018 (1,2) - you can clean this blanket up more. Go to time 00:12:446 and look and use the approach circle for (2) to guide your way.
00:16:946 (4,5) - I think it would be cute to reshape and move (5) so that the first curve of (5) blankets (4).
00:22:732 (7) - NC here and remove NC at 00:23:160 (1). This will balance out your NCs between the spinners and it'll make more sense phrasing-wise.
00:36:768 (2) - move this to 00:36:660. The way it is now doesn't really match the music, and the spacing here just makes this confusing to read anyway.
00:42:446 (4,5,6,7) - these could look cool in a series of blankets like so:
sshttp://puu.sh/4nA5U.jpg
00:45:232 - I personally would like an object here which would lead to a better flow into the circles afterward. It also would sound really nice IMO.
00:50:482 (4) - either move this circle to 00:50:375 or delete it. I don't think the music really lends itself too well to stuff like this. The beat is very heavy and 1/2 centric, so stuff like this doesn't normally fit unless it is very present in the music, which it isn't at this part.
00:53:910 (3,4) - same with this one.
00:57:339 (2,3) - ^
01:00:339 (2,3) - ^
01:06:768 (7,8) - ^
01:12:768 (4,5) - ^
01:13:732 (1) - should remove this NC for consistency
01:14:482 (4,5) - same suggestion as prior ones
01:17:910 (2,3) - ^
01:20:589 (3,4) - some curves on these would look nicer I think, or maybe line them up a bit better or offset them more. Right now it just looks like you kind of tried to line them up but didn't quite succeed.
01:26:053 (2,3) - same suggestion as before.
[Oni]
OD-1 to match your HP
00:02:375 (3,4,5,6,7) - This plays a lot better if you unstack these and add some spacing.
00:04:946 (5,6) - fix this blanket
00:06:018 (9,10) - this plays better if you unstack these. It feels more natural flowing from one object to the other instead of having this sudden stop on the stack.
00:06:018 (9,10,1) - would look better here if you fixed this overlap.
00:14:589 (2,3,4,5,6) - so close to a perfect pentagon that you might as well make it one. It would look better and more intentional.
00:17:160 (5) - NC here for consistency
00:20:589 (8) - NC here
00:20:803 (1) - this spinner feels random and out of place. Please remove and map this part.
00:26:375 (7) - NC here for consistency
00:27:446 - from here to 00:34:303 it would feel a lot nicer if you reduced the spacing. It would match the music a lot better. If you had the time also, I would say reduce the SV and adjust all of the sliders. Right now, it feels like I'm playing the exact same thing as before even though the music is telling me that what I'm playing should feel different. It might take some time, but it would definitely be worth it in order to improve the feel of this difficulty a lot.
00:35:160 (3,4) - move this up for better flow from 00:34:518 (2).
00:36:018 (6) - move this up a bit for better flow. Also, NC here for consistency.
00:39:446 (1,2,3) - reduce spacing of these. Right now the spacing is really inconsistent with the rest of what you have been doing.
00:42:875 (5) - NC for consistency here
00:43:303 (6) - I think you could reshape this to make a better blanket with 00:43:946 (7).
00:44:160 (1) - remove NC, this one feels really out of place.
00:44:803 (2) - maybe re position to form a blanket here.
00:46:303 (1,2,3,4,5) - reduce spacing. There is no reason to make this spaced bigger musically and it is very inconsistent with the rest of your difficulty.
00:49:732 (5) - NC
00:51:446 (1,3) - fix this overlap
00:53:160 (1,2,3) - reduce the spacing here also. Just as a sidenote, unless the music really suggests doing so, don't do this. High spacing on 1/4 circles can cause some rage.
00:56:589 (6) - reduce the curve on this, right now it looks quite out of place. Also, if you reduce the curve you can make a nicer looking blanket with 00:57:232 (7) .
00:57:660 (9,1) - fix stack
00:58:303 (1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4,5) - pls
00:59:803 (1) - remove NC and put NC on 01:00:018 (2) where you have the finish and start of long stream.
01:03:446 (7) - NC here and remove NC from 01:04:089 (1) in order to be more consistent.
01:09:553 (4,5) - I would prefer for this to be a 1/4 slider to match 01:09:232 (3). Also, fix this overlap.
01:09:875 (6,1) - fix blanket here.
01:11:268 (6) - make this into two circles like you have at 01:10:946 (4,5).
01:13:303 (1,2) - switch NCs here for consistency.
01:17:160 (8) - fix this overlap. Also, NC here.
01:18:017 (1) - remove NC
01:19:089 (1) - NC
01:20:375 (1) - remove NC
01:20:589 (2) - NC here
01:25:518 - I'd really like an object here. Right now it feels a bit too empty.
01:27:446 (1,2,3,4,5,6) - Maybe start (1,2,3) at a closer spacing so that you can have increased spacing for every triplet here.
01:27:875 (4) - NC
01:28:732 (4) - NC
01:28:732 (4,5,6,7,8) - Move these down so that they don't overlap with 01:28:303 (1,2,3).
That's all I'll say for now. Hopefully I gave you some useful things to think about. Good luck! Call me for a recheck sometime~
