Possible bug with 8k mod?

I'm a bit wary of posting this in tech support because I'm not sure if it's intended behaviour or if I'm tripping.

When I play beatmaps (regular osu! beatmaps, not ones mapped specifically for mania) in mania mode with the 8k mod, I've noticed that there are never any hold notes on the leftmost column (first from the left). This persists both with and with the random mod applied. I haven't noticed this happening in any of the other mods; i.e. with the 4k~7k mods, I've seen hold notes appear in all of the columns.

For clarity, I'm referring to the column outlined in red:

My osu!mania layout is set to "use normal style" if that means anything.

Can anyone confirm? Sorry if I'm wasting your time, it's actually a pretty silly issue T.T

Ah, okay, thanks for the feedback. Was there a thread on it? I only did a brief search but I didn't come up with anything

edit: never mind, found an (almost) identical thread detailing a similar issue. sorry!

Why would anybody care about playing 8K on autoconverts, seriously

Do you really even need to ask? I've been saying from day 1 making autoconverts count for PP was a terrible idea because it would give people the wrong idea about what mania is really all about. This is just proof positive of what I was saying.

That said, if you're going to enable people to play 8k on ac's you should at least ensure it works properly...

For playing 8K in autoconverts, the special (or first) column involves the use of clap and finish sound additions, usually from hitcircles and spinners. Single circles with a clap and/or finish sound additions are intepreted as groups of oncoming notes, including the notes on the special column. In order for the inclusion of these special notes to appear frequently, you'll have to play a beatmap of not more than ~157.89BPM (for 1/4 streams each with less than 95ms between, otherwise it will be discluded). Spinners with finish hitsounds are also intepreted as long notes on that column as well.

For this case, playing an 8K autoconverts typically don't work well for beatmaps without clap/finish hitsound additions. However in fact, frequent use of these hitsounds within the BPM assertion makes it irrelevantly difficult, as shown in the screenshot below. Yes, it's the most difficult ranked autoconvert to be played with just 8K modifier.
