Title: The Kaltheos Expedition
Year: 2182
Seventy years ago, humanity discovered wormholes scattered across the solar system, gateways that defied the limits of space and time. What was once the realm of science fiction became reality: flying cars glided between skyscrapers, nanomedicine eradicated disease, and interplanetary travel was as common as taking a train.
Yet, despite this golden age, leaving the solar system remained a privilege for the elite, until now.
The World Space Travel Program had just confirmed the discovery of Kaltheos Prime, an Earth-like exoplanet deemed safe for human visitation. To celebrate, the government selected ten high school students for an all-expenses-paid expedition—an opportunity of a lifetime.
Departure
Location: Interstellar Launchport 7, Terminal 7-B
Time: 06:30 AM
The terminal hummed with energy, bathed in the soft glow of holographic displays. Massive shuttles towered like metallic giants, their hulls shimmering under the artificial dawn. Security drones patrolled overhead, their scanners flickering as they processed the crowd.
Among the throng of travelers, ten individuals stood out, destined for Flight 09X: Kaltheos Prime.
The First Arrival: Corne2Plum3
A hush fell over the security line as a towering humanoid wolf stepped forward. His fur, a mix of deep blues and grays, bristled slightly under the fluorescent lights. He didn’t speak—didn’t need to. The scanning machine stuttered, then beeped green.
"What even is that thing?" a security officer muttered.
Corne2Plum3’s golden eyes flicked toward the voice, nostrils flaring as he absorbed the scents of steel, ozone, and human sweat. He said nothing.
The Second Arrival: Manga M. Grumpy
A lanky teen shuffled in, dragging a patch-covered duffel bag behind him. His dark circles rivaled his disheveled hair, and he groaned as he stretched.
"Why in the interstellar name of soggy fishsticks did I agree to this…" Manga grumbled, rubbing his shoulder. "Space air gives me joint pain already."
Spotting Corne, he raised a hand. "Yo, what’s up?"
Silence.
"…Did I say something wrong?" Manga thought, suddenly self-conscious.
The Third Arrival: Manishh (The Guide)
A cheerful young man in a World Space Travel uniform approached, clapping his hands. "Ah, I’m not the first! Nice to meet you two, you must be Corne and Manga, right? I’ll be your guide for this trip."
Both nodded.
"Yes, I’m Manga M. Grumpy," Manga said, forcing a smile. "Nice to meet you too."
The Rest of the Crew Arrives
One by one, the others appeared:
Luca burst in, breathless. "Heyyy! I’m finally here! This place is a maze-I thought you’d leave without me!"
179bpm stumbled in, looking half-dead. "I’m finally here…" he wheezed.
Manishh blinked. "You look terrible-are you okay?"
"Caffeine," 179bpm muttered. "Haven’t slept in 38 hours."
Luca gasped. "How are you alive?!"
179bpm grinned weakly. "Sheer spite."
Droid, Shiroverra, Xonte, and Atlas arrived together, chatting among themselves.
Droid adjusted his glasses nervously. "I didn’t expect so many cameras… Should’ve finished that cloaking module."
Shiroverra eyed Corne suspiciously. "Is that thing going with us?"
Corne’s ear twitched. "Thing?" he thought, claws flexing slightly.
Xonte crossed his arms. "So this is the crew. Huh."
Atlas stormed in last. "WHY AM I LAST?? WHO WROTE THE SCRIPT??"
A commotion erupted near security. A girl on a hover-skateboard, laughing as guards chased her.
"What’s going on?" Manishh sighed, jogging over. After a long, painful negotiation, Yro was allowed to join with a warning.
"Don’t ride a skateboard in a launchport," Manishh scolded.
"Hah, won’t happen again!" Yro grinned, not sorry at all.
Manishh did a headcount. "1, 2, 3… 9. Wait, where’s Fujiya?"
A small voice came behind Corne2plum3
"I was here from the start."
Corne2plum3 jumped. Fujiya had been standing there the whole time, silent as a shadow.
"Haha, I was joking!" Manishh lied poorly to avoid awkward situation. "Alright, let’s board!"
The shuttle roared to life, pressing them into their seats as Earth shrank behind them. The stars blurred. then darkness swallowed them whole.
They had entered the wormhole.
After the initial thrill faded, silence settled.
"Alright, let’s break the ice!" Luca clapped. "I’ll start. I’m Luca. I game, I talk, I distract people. Sometimes it’s useful, sometimes annoying. Oh, and I’m terrified of blood. Like really really terrified"
One by one, they shared:
Fujiya (arms crossed): "I like solving problems. Logic. Details. Working in groups? Not my thing. But I’ll try not to get in the way."
Yro (grinning): "I like skate, I film stuff, and I hate serious talks. Life’s too short for frowns."
179bpm (slouched): "Call me 179. I like melee combat and running. Also, caffeine."
Xonte (bored): "I pick locks. That’s it." (Awkward clapping.)
Shiroverra (excited): "Call me Shiro! I’m a biology nerd ask me about anything bio related!"
Atlas (smiling): "I love history. Oh, and I’m good at first-aid. I'm blind but that doesn’t stop me."
Droid (nervous): "I, uh, build robots. And tech. Yeah."
All eyes turned to Corne2Plum3.
The wolf took a deep breath, as if preparing for battle.
"I’m Corne."
Long Silence.
Then applause.
The shuttle hummed steadily as the wormhole spat them out into open space. The cabin lights flickered back on, revealing a massive, swirling blue-green planet looming in the viewport.
Manishh’s voice crackled over the intercom: "Everyone, you can now see Kaltheos Prime from the windows! We’ll begin descent in five minutes. Please return to your seats."
The group rushed to peer outside.
Luca pressed her face against the glass. "Whoa… it’s like Earth, but… shinier?"
Shiroverra adjusted her glasses, analyzing. "The atmospheric composition seems stable. look at that cloud formation!"
Yro smirked. "Bet I could grind those mountain ranges."
Corne2Plum3 remained silent, but his ears twitched taking in every detail.
The shuttle tilted, engines roaring as it entered the planet’s atmosphere.
Then, everything went wrong.
A violent shudder rocked the ship. Alarms blared, lights flickered, and the floor lurched beneath them.
Manga slammed into a wall. "WHAT THE HELL--?!"
179bpm grabbed a seatbelt, eyes wide. "Are we crashing?!"
Droid frantically tapped at a panel. "Systems are glitching, something’s messing with our descent!"
Manishh’s voice boomed, strained but firm: "EVERYONE, STAY CALM! Get to the safe room-NOW!"
The group scrambled, stumbling as the ship bucked like a wild animal.
Atlas grabbed Fujiya’s arm, pulling her forward. "Move!"
Xonte cursed, nearly tripping over a loose panel. "This is why I hate space!"
They piled into the reinforced safe room. A small chamber lined with emergency supplies. Manishh did a quick headcount.
"Good, everyone’s---"
CRACK.
A window shattered.
The vacuum of Kaltheos’ atmosphere roared, metal groaning as the air ripped out of the ship.
Manishh was standing too close.
Luca screamed. "MANISHH--!"
Corne2Plum3 lunged, claws digging into the floor-grabbing Manishh’s wrist at the last second.
Yro and 179bpm grabbed Corne, trying to anchor him.
But the pull was too strong.
"HOLD ON!" Atlas yelled.
A second explosion rocked the ship.
Corne’s grip slipped.
Manishh’s terrified eyes met theirs--
--and then he was gone.
White.
Silence.
..
..
...
....
..
Consciousness returned in fragments.
A pounding headache.
Smoke in the air.
The distant beep of dying machinery.
Luca groaned, pushing herself up. "Ugh… what…?"
The safe room door had been jammed open, revealing a nightmare.
The shuttle was destroyed.
Walls bent inward.
Sparks sputtering from torn wires.
Sunlight streaming through a cracked hull.
179bpm sat up, clutching his ribs. "Did we… crash?"
Fujiya was already on her feet, scanning the damage. "Affirmative. Emergency systems failed. We’re lucky to be alive."
Yro let out a shaky laugh. "Lucky? Our guide just got yeeted into space!"
Silence.
Then--panic set in.
Manga hyperventilated. "We’re stranded. We’re actually stranded."
Droid muttered, "No signal… no comms… we’re off-grid."
Shiroverra hugged herself. "What if the air is toxic? What if--"
"ENOUGH."
Corne2Plum3’s voice cut through the chaos-deep, commanding.
Everyone froze.
Atlas took a breath, steadying himself. "He’s right. Panicking won’t help. We need to assess our situation."
Xonte crossed his arms. "And do what? Build a house out of wreckage?"
Fujiya adjusted her glasses. "First, we check supplies. Then, we scout. Then, we survive."
A beat.
Luca clapped her hands together. "Alright, team! Let’s get organized."
After salvaging what they could, they decided to split up:
------------------
This is the part, where you will have couple option to decide what your character will do. So please choose carefully.
A: Team 1: Ship Inspection (To gather what is left in the ship and to check if any equipment still works)
B: Team 2: Food & Water (To search for Food and water)
C: Team 3: Area Recon (To search the area around the crash site)
Each option is useful and will provide certain items and information that might be useful for survival. Its up to you if you want to discuss with others and if you dont want to, that is fine as well. Once you have decided, send me a DM on what option you are choosing for your character.
You have 24hours to submit me the choice
