oh my god i have a LOT to say about this season. first, the elimination order was AWFUL. im not giving any examples. i love jake and all (top 5 favorite characters) but i feel like he did not deserve to get to the finale. we were all expecting for grett to win, she would be the better season 1 character to be in the finale. giving grett a lot of character development (i hated her in season 1, now i like her) and wasting it in favor of riya is so bad. whole post-merge is awful.
second (i can NOT stress this enough) was.. what the actual fuck is going on with tomjake? it lasted all of season 1 and now season 3 AND a spinoff? it literally makes no sense. the tom and aiden kiss was nowhere near needed. i know i am an aiden fan so i can barely say this, but tom is one of the most overrated characters in HISTORY. i do NOT see the appeal. he is literally just "heh.. guess i deserve it..!" as a character. the finale would have been WAY better without tomjake but thats for later.
third, the writing (and how the writers ruined most characters.) the season started out fine, but merge was AWFUL. ally got a very bad villain arc, emily got trashed, trevor turned into a.. well i dont even know how to describe him. i dont even know how to describe how they got ruined. the amount of fanservice in this season was not needed at ALL. (targeted at episode 14.)
fourth is GOD the finale was AWFUL. why did they have the one who was already in the season 2 finale in the finale AGAIN. and WIN. this finale was just a season 2 finale ripoff. tom=james, jake=aiden, riya=..riya. riya stabbing jake in the throat is the new version of riya pushing aiden off of the cliff. thats all im gonna say about the finale.
hot take, im not gonna miss this gen cast! im only gonna really miss aiden and tess, but they are already eliminated. also trevor and derek are hosting season 4. i love jake, but near the end, he turned into a cornball with tom. AND TOMJAKE IS GETTING A MINISERIES. i am so mad about that. we could've gotten a fiore and alec miniseries or huntessally spinoff but whatever. im surprised they eliminated james and lake first, sent them on a vacation at the end of the finale, and there still wasnt a jaiden spinoff. i am not mad about it tho, i never liked jaiden. im looking forward to a new season and cast, i just wish we would get new hosts.
