UPDATE!!: I can actually pass hards now, finally.
It's probably not a big thing to most... but for me, it's a big achievement. Osu is my very first rhythm game, and I'm definitely no natural talent. But I've, for now, achieved my goal. As soon as my real life friend starts doing Insanes though, instead of just Hards...
But I'll try not to get ahead of myself, for now.
It was a matter of physical strength...
And mental speed!
Unfortunately, there was no magical trick that everybody else was using that I wasn't.
It literally really all was just about practice.
But how do you practice in Osu? That's the question nobody bothers to answer.
How did *I* practice? I didn't grind the same map over and over again until I memorised the patterns.
I didn't play 100-200 times a day.
I don't think I even played 50 times a day.
And simply spamming Scarlet Rose would have been an absolutely terrible idea when I can't even get 40% accuracy on that map with NoFail. That would be an excellent way to build bad habits.
So what did I do instead? I played a whole range of different "Hard" maps - a dozen or more different ones, most donated by helpful posters on this thread. I played them only a couple of times each, before moving on to the next in sequence. That way, I didn't end up memorising the patterns - I actually had to get faster, and READ them. I didn't play more than 50 plays a day or so, otherwise I would have injured myself, and just slowed myself down.
Thank you, to bewaredrev, Mystrian, and Zalaria, and anyone else who I might have missed for giving me excellent practice maps to hone my skills.
Thank you to everyone who told me that the only way really was to practice. It's not an easy pill to swallow, but it's one that I had to come to terms with sooner or later to improve at this game.
And to those who edited out their posts because they were convinced I was just going to quit, or flamed me because they had nothing else to do, I guess I can thank you too. Your blatant negativity and pessimism were exactly what I needed as driving motivation to go forward. There's nothing quite as motivating, as cathartic, as proving somebody else's negative opinions absolutely wrong, lol.
After all, why say "F*** you" when you can just make somebody else look stupid?
Mods, if you wish, you can lock this thread now. I have no need of it anymore. Perhaps, the wisdom that has been passed on to me can be passed on to others... but that is your choice to make, not mine.
Everybody, thank you for your time.
