Sign-up Rules and Brackets
- The ranges for each bracket of play (in rankings and SR) are as follows:
  1. 900K+ (1.5-2*)
  2. 899-700K (2-2.5*)
  3. 699-500K (2.5-3*)
  4. 499-300K (3-3.5*)
  5. 299-200K (3.5-4*)
  6. 199-150K (4-4.5*)
  7. 149K-100K (4.5-5*)
  8. 99K-50K (5-5.5*)
  9. 50K-10K (5.5-6*)
  10. <10K (6*+)

- All who post will be checked by the end of sign-ups for your range (and obviously when I'm putting you in your brackets).
- Two days before sign-ups end will be when your bracket placement is locked in. At that point, even if you get enough pp to advance to a new bracket (eg. at 501K, you get enough to jump to 497K, you will still be locked into the 699-500K bracket). However, advancements before that point will be accounted for and you will be moved to the proper bracket.
-Players who sign up during this lock-in phase will also be subject to said lock-in as well.
-Any bracket that has one or zero participants will be removed. If a bracket has only one player, they will be given a one-time option to jump down to a lower bracket (eg. a single 499-300K player may jump to the 299-200K bracket). If this option is not taken, you will be removed alongside the bracket.

-Sign-ups officially end at 23:59 February 7th, 2023. Anyone who asks after this day will not be added.

Competition Rules
- The maps for each bracket will be posted on Sunday the 5th.
- Scores must be submitted or dated from 00:00 February 8th to 23:59 February 21st. That does mean you will need to re-do your score if you had one submitted previously.
- There is no limit to the number of scores you submit, so long as it is submitted on/after the 8th.
- Picture proof or a link to the score is required in this thread. It is also on you to ensure your links work and are updated. I can and will trawl for scores if absolutely necessary or if something janky happens, and if I find a broken link I will try to point it out, but I will not be doing so regularly.
- Players who have not submitted more than one score after the first week will be automatically DQ'd and may not re-enter. Repeat offenders will be barred from participating in future challenges. If you find out you can no longer participate or don't want to, please just let me know instead of ghosting. I have no problem with you requesting to leave at any time.
- All mods are available for use. However, be aware that using mods such as NF, HT, or SO to get "easy" SS's will mean you might lose on score tiebreaks.
- Points will be distributed based on the number of songs used in each bracket. 1st place will get 6 points with 6 songs, for example, 2nd 5, and so on. If there are more players than there are songs, those who fall outside of that number will not be given points.
--Using extra mods will not earn you extra points by itself. However, they can be used to aid you in score tiebreaks.
- If a player SS's a map, they will be given a bonus point.
- Tiebreaks will be broken down as follows, from top priority to lowest: Accuracy->score->timestamp.
--Example 1: Player A has a play with 93% acc., while Player B has 95%. In this scenario, Player B would win the map.
--Example 2: Player A and Player B both have 97% acc, but Player A has 8.5M points while Player B has 7.8M points. In this scenario, Player A would win the map.
--Example 3: Player A and Player B both SS the map, but Player B has 1,100 more points due to a faster spinner. In this scenario Player B would win.
--Example 4: Player A and Player B both SS the map and either have the same spinner points or the map has no spinner. However, Player A submitted their play one day before Player B. In this scenario, Player A would win.
- The player from each bracket with the most points wins.

Prizes
- The winner of each bracket will earn 1 month's Osu!Supporter from me.
- If a player SS's all their songs in their bracket, I will give them 2 months Supporter.
- Others are more than welcome to offer their own rewards to players if they so choose. However, if you are participating you may not offer a reward of any kind for the challenge. If there is enough support for it I may allow for rewards on brackets outside your own, but that remains to be seen.

Please do let me know if these are reasonable brackets. I'm also trying some different things for this one, but save the critique for after the challenge unless it's something really obvious. I'm hoping after running about 4-5 of these I'll have a points system and bracket ranges that are satsifactory, among other things.

Also, don't be afraid to advertise it to friends and elsewhere! It'll be a pain at times to get everything to look right, but I'm all for more participants.

I basically just picked a bunch of songs that had the word "Love" in the title or the diff name, so yeah.

I might expand to include stuff that's still about love but it's not directly mentioned (i.e. heart, or even songs about break-ups and the like) next year (if I do one next year, anyways)

I learned how to actually aim and I learned to play DT maps to farm, I think I got to 50k on October 2022.

Your bracket placement is based on your rank, not what you can play. If you wish to be in a lower aka more difficult bracket, get your rank down to that level first.

OP is updated aside from the two people I just quoted as I don't know if they're actually going to join or not. I will be updated with the song selection at some point today/Sunday.

I actually decided to be a devil to everyone (including myself) by selecting 10 songs per bracket this time, which is going to be fun. I did have a somewhat limited pool to work with (I just picked from songs I had in my library already), so I tried to give everyone some variety. (I think I'm going to expand it next year to not be solely on having "love" in the song/diff title...)

Because that's also not going to fit very well in the OP, I'm going to also make a spreadsheet for each bracket as well (which I certainly hope I'll make it at least legible by Monday <_<). Given a rather limited pool to work.

As a final note, some brackets only have one person and some have none. If you are in a bracket by yourself (Sebastian, Biess4, Aireunaus), I'd suggest considering if you wish to take that one-time advacement or find someone else interested in joining.

Hi, I'm here again. Just curious, if someone enters the challenge but all his opponents didn't submit a single score (like what's happening to me last time), will this 'lucky' guy get his supporter?

I'm honestly leaning towards no. Not out of disrespect to the person who actually tried, but I personally dislike giving rewards out when it's like nobody even showed up. I want to give it out because there were two or more people who gave it an honest try instead of because only one person bothered to show up and participate.

I am...honestly rather surprised I have 4 sub-10K players, plus a goddamn 3-digit. Wow.

Anyways, we have officially entered the lock-in phase. New rank advancements will NOT change your placement in the brackets for the rest of the challenge. The maps for each bracket are in the spreadsheet in the OP, with the links coming shortly, though you can always just download them yourself if you're impatient. Keep in mind that score submissions will only count after the 8th, not the 6th, in case anyone missed the change. If it's dated before then I'm not counting it.

ALso, Single participants have until the end of sign-ups to choose if they wish to be removed along with their brackets or advance up one bracket. This is a one-time choice and cannot be reversed. It should also go without saying that if you advance into another single-person bracket and that person opts to advance as well, you're kinda SoL. I do want competition in all the brackets if possible, but I'm not going to force someone to stay in a bracket for you if they don't want to. You're more than welcome to talk it out beforehand or in the thread, but it's their choice and their choice alone.
Jellinad
You can put me in the bracket above (299-200k) since mine is empty

Yeah I can't fc a single map in my bracket so fuck that lmfaoo my opponents have 2019 scores that beat the scores I set now on these maps. Maybe would've been fair if I was a 6 digit.
nominomu
you should probably add a rule saying that SS's with EZ or HT don't count towards the reward for SS'ing all songs. sorry if this ruins anyone's plan >:)

also,

well this is gonna be tough

I'm going to try this challenge without that rule. If it becomes a significant problem (as in an entire bracket is going solely for HT SS's) I'll re-instate it for later ones.

as for EZ, if we're referring to the higher diffs I'd be more impressed if you SS'd with EZ, personally.

Aizuuya wrote:

Not even the [easy]/[normal] one?

(that being said, I really can't give good quality control on the higher maps, so I apologize if that becomes a major problem. I'm not against giving it a shot for the sake of improving later challenges, but it's one of the reasons I'd prefer to stick to the pool of maps I've already SS'd even if that cuts out all 140K+ people ahead of me in rank.)

haxyie bf wrote:

Thank you for clarifying. However, with biess4 taking the advancement option, that leaves you alone in the 499-300K bracket with the same choice.

(I'm probably going to change that next time to have it go into effect at the end of sign-ups. I think it's still a good option to have so single participants aren't SoL, but I'm realizing there's some logistics I didn't quite work out for it beforehand.

It'd probably be along the lines of giving you the option, but only if no one else joins your bracket. The bit about multiple jumpers from different brackets would remain, though.)

So, if I'm correct, since I'm in 299-200K (3.5-4*): I will have to set scores on the 10 maps listed in your spreadsheet, and the difficulty I play should be the one between 3.5-4*? And I have to set these scores between 8 and 21 February? (You should use UTC btw, because 00:00 8 February is different in different places in the world...) And last step is to put my scores in this thread?
Aizuuya
So did you actually make these pools with people fucking SSing everything in mind? Like rules arent even defined for what happens when someone doesnt even FC the maps.

Just check Voidedosu's unerpage and you'll know why he's trying to encourage people into SSing everything.

I linked specific maps for each bracket, although it wouldn't hurt to include a spot for the specific difficulty name in the spreadsheet.
The maps you play are specific to the bracket you're in, which is set based on your ranking. YOu're welcome to try and play the other maps (or other maps included in the mapsets for your songs), but they won't have any affect on your placement.
Yes
And yes.

Aizuuya wrote:

SS's would be ideal, yes. However, as cool as that would be for the higher SR maps I'm not expecting it there, just FCs at best.

Also, unless I missed something, you're graded by acc % first, which is the first priority. I listed several examples for how winners are determined, and the first example given shows that. I admit I didn't consider weighing between a high-acc non-FC and a low-acc FC as I thought the acc would be a better indicator, but if everyone thinks it would be better to prioritize FCs almost regardless of acc over non-FCs with high acc. (or something to that effect) I can include that in the rules for this and future challenges.

EDIT: To be a bit more specific, I'm asking two questions:

1.) Should FCs generally be prioritized over non-FCs, regardless of acc.? Or should it purely be about acc. regardless of if it's FC'd?
2.) If the answer to #1 is the former, should there be a minimum acc. requirement on FCs before they are considered ahead of non-FCs? (i.e. if this cutoff is 90%, then a 96% non-FC would be considered winning over a 89% FC, but a 90% FC would be winning over that 96% non-FC.)

These are questions that can be answered throughout the challenge, as I would only need an answer determined at the very end before I tally up points. The sooner it's answered the better, though.

EDIT2: The challenge has officially begun, btw. I would like to make a new post for that, but the forums don't allow that within at least a 24-hour period, so.

Also, I have provided a template for housing your scores here in the thread. I highly recommend you all make a post in here ASAP so that I can find them all in fairly close proximity (plus I could include links in the sheet to avoid skimming the thread or something). I would also suggest you try and keep them in the order provided in the spreadsheet to make it easier for me.

I personally think it's fine to keep the current criteria as it is (acc% being the first priority).

My Scores

Song 2 EASY LOVE SS

This actually had me shaking, I've only SS'd a handful of 5* maps

Song 3 More-More LOVE 98.58%

Annoying bursts, not worth grinding acc

Song 5 can't hide your love 97.40%

I literally couldn't pass this a week ago, and now magically I can almost FC it

Song 7 enchanted love 92.50%

I hate this map, but possible leaderboard

Song 8 Love Synchronicity SS

Didn't think I'd be able to SS with hyperx reds, but I did somehow

Song 9 First Love 97.23%

It's weird going for acc and not FCs

Will put songs in order whenever I SS or get an acceptable acc FC/pass
Small edit - Haven't been able to play much due to college and playing other games with friends. But I finally had time to sit down and fully play the pool, super rushed scores
Edit 2 - nvm fixed the problem, but either way gg Aiz I'm not gonna lose my sanity trying to get good acc on this map pool
