New Mapper Feedback Queue
Get feedback on your map from ranked mappers who are learning to become mentors!THIS IS A FEEDBACK QUEUE, NOT A MOD QUEUE: IF YOU WANT TO IMPROVE, THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE, BUT IF YOU ONLY WANT MODS, YOU SHOULD LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE
1. Beginner Mappers only!
We will not be modding things like metadata, spread, etc. While these aspects are undoubtedly important for ranking a map, our goal is to improve you as a mapper, not the map.
2. Be Open to Feedback, and Prepared for Criticism
We are not here to tell you that your map is amazing. We're here to help you improve. That usually includes some hard truths.
3. No 'meme', 'aim-training', obnoxiously difficult 10*+ jump spam maps, etc.
If you didn't genuinely try your best to make a map and/or aren't genuinely trying to improve, we genuinely won't (and can't) help you.
4. Your map must be finished.
This may seem silly, but there are a lot of aspects of maps that are okay in isolation but problematic when put into the context of the rest of the map. A verse being difficult often doesn't make sense if the chorus is really easy, for example. Do note, however, that hitsounds and spreads are not required.
This is an initiative as a part of the Community Mentorship Program's "Graduation Program" where experienced mentors teach experienced mappers and modders how to, well, mentor. As a result, the kind of feedback you will be receiving closely mirrors the kind of feedback a mentor may provide you.
The people who will be providing you feedback are chaser01 and ThunderBird2678
The mentors are Mizunashi Akari
The feedback you receive will be reviewed by both Mizunashi Akari and -White. All the mentees have several ranked maps, and are very familiar with the ranking process. Each have been handselected to participate in this program. The goal of the feedback you receive is to better enable you, as the mapper, to create the kinds of maps that you want.
Both Mizunashi Akari and -White have been mentors and organizers in the Official Community Mentorship Program for several cycles and have successfully mentored several mappers of their own. -White served as a Beatmap Nominator for ~6 months before resigning.
No preferences, all mapping styles are welcome!
Step 1: Link your map
Step 2: Include any other information you want us to consider when looking at your map.
Did you attempt a gimmick? Did you attempt to copy a style? Is there a specific aspect of the map you want us to focus on, such as rhythm or patterning? Anything that would help us tailor our feedback to what you were trying to do.
Step 3: Note in your post how you'd like to receive your feedback
There is a few options for feedback: Modding Discussion Page, Voice Chat through Discord, or osu/Discord direct message (text). Please note one or more options for how you'd like to receive that. If you do not specify, we will default to Discussion Page.
Step 4: Profit
If you have any questions, please send one of the mentors involved a message in osu/Discord DMs
Be sure to check out the Community Mentorship Program and apply as a mentee if you're looking to learn from a vetted and experienced mapper. Applications are currently closed, but check back in ~2 months for more information. You will even be able to apply to the Junior Mentors listed here when they are promoted to full fledged Mentors!
