I wouldn't say this is true at all, I think most use circles tbh.
People like to see the true hitboxes of their fruits, but circles are easier to read for most people.

preference, also most people use circles, I used squares at the start because it was way easier to read and identify patterns, after that I switched to small circles to focus more on learning precision
