Now, please I have not seen any threads on Smite on this subforum yet, so let me introduce you into the game Smite:



Smite Introduction

This video explains very well what Smite is, but let's put it into words again.
Most of you know MOBAs, like League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth or DoTa 2. Smite takes this concept and turns it around. It takes the concept and the strategy of MOBAs and combines it with 3rd person controls, which should be familiar to everyone if you ever played World of Warcraft.

Now, this game is being developed by Hi-Rez, (which you might know from Tribes: Ascend) and the game is currently in open beta, so everyone can play the game. There is currently a patch every week and a new god (hero/champion equivalent) every 2/3 weeks. There are currently 37 gods in the game.
I've fallen in love with this game, which did not happen with any other MOBA. Even if you do not enjoy MOBAs like LoL, give it a try anyways. It could turn out great.

Hi-Rez also has two 24/7 twitch.tv channels during the weekdays. One for casual plays and viewer games and one for competitive. Things like Patch Previews will be held there and giveaways. At the weekend there are the US and EU Smite tournaments, hosted by Hi-Rez. The Winner gets 1000 $ for the win in this week.

I'll be picking up this game as well. I've been playing something similar to this before (TPS + MOBA), so I think I'll have the same joy with this game.

I've been playing Smite since closed beta. It's okay. Definitely something I can't play often because it's not that interesting to me.

Well, I've tried and it was interesting, but it ended there. It really just feels like having a different camera angle from regular MOBA game :/

Oh nice! I'm out of town for Holiday currently so I probably won't be able to play until later this week. :(

I get about 130ish ping to the Europe region so I can swap the region to there if needed, though someone mentioned region locked being disabled so it probably won't matter so much. If anyone who has been playing for awhile can confirm or deny that would be great since having 70-80 ping difference every other game is odd sometimes lol.

When you bring up your friends list it's the green + button to the right of the "Friends" at the top or directly under the down arrow that's next to your name. xD

LOL. To be fair I was just as fed if not more most of that game. Problem is most of the people on my team was new to the moba genre so it was hard to get them to understand what needed to be done. Probably could have won the game if I split pushed more, but meh thats boring. xD

People only really think he is OP because of his 3 escapes/gap closers. Other than that he has been nerfed a ton since release and just recently with the changes to all the penetration items. :(

i came in second fora tournament for this and got 2000 gems

is that a lot?
should i start playing?
(the tournament was at a giant LAN and every1 at the lan was totally bad at MOBAs)

If you can make money off of a game (especially if it's a popular genre that has a decent competitive scene) then go for it. Just look at how much money people make off league of legends. Though it will be a very long time until smite gets to the point league is at (if ever). Definitely has the potential though.

Smite is something new with it's camera. I think it will get attention someday, a friend of mine really likes Smite, even though he played LoL (Diamond 1 or something). To quote him: "It isn't perfect, but makes so much fun. It still needs much work and some ballance." He also likes the community.
And with the ballance thing, I have to agree with the ballance (Zeus and Freya per example, or Chaac) but it isn't bad. Some items aren't really... Polynomicon *uurgh*... at least Quins got nerfed. And Matchmakeing, Servers and on are also a bit troublesome (Got in a few games with only Level 30 Players... and then again with some players without mastery that run into towers at the beginning of the game)
I got the feeling that it will get a good game

Fenrir can be a really challenging god... He just can be really annoying with his escapes and brutalize is really strong, but Neith would be stronger compared to him. Her CC, ability to heal herself, backflip with the weaves and that worldwide ultimate is just... OP. Same with Apollo...

Except Rengar is brokenly bugged and has been since his release.

As long as they don't go on the whole "nerf everything to hell and back" like league does I think the game will be fine in terms of balance. The amount of stuff that pisses me off in this game is very minimal when compared to league.

I swear I must be the only person in this world that doesn't mind if content is recycled from a previous game as long as it's good.

You should have known Tribes was going downhill the second they made it free to play then shortly followed by the developer post saying "we aren't really making money off this game". Games can fail get over it.

Did you ever had a game with people that are really insulting... Like when they go on you because you picked accidently the wrong lane.
They were harrasing me the whole time during the game and said no to my initiative to change lanes. Well, that was happening after the chat, I pretty lost my "friendly" way and was half raging. And rage isn't in my nature...

I was ashamed because my behaviour wasn't good and wanted to apologize, so i tried to write that guy a Private msg

This wasn't the only game that went out like this because someone made a tiny mistake like picking the wrong lane or KS on accident. Or when a jungler picks up a buff on accident. You should all try to forgive players that make mistakes. It's just a game. With such a behavior (me included) a community gets toxic, and this would be the last thing I want. There are tiny buttons to mute players when you push tab to look at the scoreboard while playing, make use of it

I was matched with a premade 3 group that intentionally threw the game just to spite me because they got annoyed with me for wanting them to group mid. lol

Ignoring can be quite hard after a match where you got insulted the from the beginning. But you're right. This is like always happening when I solo queue... Started to really like custom matches with friends because of that. We just laugh when someone dies or congrat them for a cool kill (you can even chat with your enemies if enabled )

The League of legends forum is way worse. I post there quite often. LoL subreddit is okay, but it's still pretty bad. These type of games will never have a good community. Some will be better than others though. I actually like smites community more and I'm sure I only do because it's not as big yet.

Tencent (the same company that invested in league of legends) partnered with Smite a few months ago so I severely doubt this game will be going down anytime soon. Also Smite is way more popular than Tribes ever was 2-3 times over.

Reddit is not a place for serious conversation. I don't check out the LoL forum because I never played it serious enough to be interested in that kind of talk, a few friends from me describe it as kindergarten. Smite has a normal community: there are players that play serious, and others just run around and do shit. Teamed up with some guys on facebook that call themself flameless smiters and made a few premade conquest. Best experience ever.

So apparently I played with 3 pros from the game and im a level 22 paired up with 2 level 30 friends. Matchmaking op.

The matchmaking in this game is really bad. I mean beyond terrible and I've played stuff like dota 2.

The only reason it is like this currently is because the population isn't that big so the system doesn't have many numbers to work with. They could fix this by increasing the queue times, but I'm pretty sure a lot of people won't like that at all. Getting shit stomped isn't fun, but we are all going to have to deal with it until 30 lol (at least mid 20's).

When you pair up with level 30ies you get level 30ies :/ there is imaginary elo for unranked. If you would have 0 elo and your friend has 3000 elo you get paired up with guys at 1500 elo. If you have 2 friends with an elo of 3000 you will get 2000 elo players. I see some players that just started with smite wrecking with level 22-30 players. And if you win the match, you fuck up your elo: you won in a not so good looking elo situation (for you) and gain a shitload of elo. That means when you solo queue afterwards you get stronger enemies even without your level 30 party members. Experienced it myself, because many friends of mine are level 30 aimbot like players with 7k kills and afterwards i get some stupid matches.

I know, the following content is not really fixing. But they may have been diffrent in the past, now Hirez is one of my favorite companies. They do so much with the community, art shows and on. They look at the Ideas from Useres and use them:

Since Hirez liked the idea...

They support the community! Not like other companies that just ignore their fans. And if they really didn't listen to their fans in the past, they changed now. Mistakes can happen, you shouldn't rant about them, you can't make them good like this. But you can try to be better afterwards. If you are just here to complain about the creators, please, stop.

This is not entirely accurate in Smite as it is in LoL and Dota.

I've went on crazy losing streaks with people level 10 and under on my team every game against people level 25+. It has more to do with the player pool being really small. You can look your teammates up on the smite website and half of the time the people on my team have negative winrates.

I'm currently sitting at around a 56% winrate in conquest so I really shouldn't be getting matched with level 9's that have a low 40% winrate if the above system was actually in place.

With all that aside I really haven't had much time to play lately due to school/work and games that friends want to play. Don't think I'll reach level 30 before the beta ends sadly. Ymir skin looks so good too.

Yes, there aren't enough players also... But that doesn't annoy as much as a level 30 Legendary Xbala with 4k Kills that teams up with a level 1 Neith. The Xbala did great, but the Neith was feeding D:

This happens way too often. Often the match is lost because of that, after the enemy team took tower of the duo, they snowball around. And if a fed adc ganks the lanes, it ain't fun anymore. Also when you get (finally, after 5 tries) matched up with a team full of level 10s in premade conquest and you win after 20 minutes... This wasn't fun either.

I'm just hoping the playerbase will grow after beta ends. And that I reach level 30 before the end (nearly level 26 :D you need so much exp to gain level...)

I read that the exp to level after 25 increases a lot.

Luckily spring break comes before the games launch so I might have a chance to grind to 30 then. lol

Solo Queue... but it's so wtf. I'm not even level 30 xD There was also another one in the enemy team with max mastery and 2 legendarys... Atleast I went positive xD

You can grind in coop mode when you basesitt. Never did this but saw many people doing it...

Really? A lot of stuff has changed since I last played QQ.

My break is the 17-21st of this month so I can hopefully grind something to get the skin at least. :)
