Problem details:
Lately, I've been facing a problem with osu, which is really annoying... I sometimes join multiplayer with others, and I have to download their maps.. when I download one and click on it on my browser to import it in, osu crashes and opens a new window of osu that I can't click anything on, so I miss the multiplayer room, even with some of my irl friends, it's annoying, I tried repairing but it didn't solve the problem, so I had to redownload, and it didn't won't again. Any help? I'd really appreciate your help...

osu! version: Stable 20210316

Try disabling compatibility mode if you have it enabled.

Does this issue still happen if you drag and drop the beatmap file into the osu! window or if you put it directly into your osu "songs" folder and then pressing f5? (for the second one you'll have to not be in song select)

Also is this only when in multiplayer or does this freeze/crash thing also happen outside of multiplayer?

i always download maps and drag them into the songs file then restart osu, will f5 kick me from the multiplayer room? and also, compatibility mode is off, i tried turning it on but nothing happened, so i turned it back off. And it's not only in the multiplayer, it also happenes in solo

f5 wont do anything in multiplayer unless youre the host, in which case it takes you to the song select screen for the multiplayerroom. If you press in the normal song selection screen it will refresh your beatmaps.

Is there a reason for this? you should just be able to double click the beatmap files.

It may also be useful to get a crash log from osu. follow this guide wiki/en/Help_Centre#event-viewer and paste what u get here for us to take a look

Make sure .osz files are correctly associated with the right osu!.exe in Windows file associations.

more explanation? sry

Right click an .osz file and then select Open With, and then select more apps, and then select search for a program on this computer.
Then navigate to your osu!.exe and select it.

You can find where your osu!.exe is by using the "Open osu! folder" option from the options menu. It will open the folder where it's located.
