For me it would have to be oyasumi punpun.
I really like creepy, dark stuff and psychological thrillers that mess with your head. Anyone know any good ones?

probably corpse party
Sophie Twilight
Plot-wise, Gakkou Gurashi (the whole manga and anime scared me to near death)

Visual-wise, Mai-chan no Nichijou

Truth-wise, Shin Gendai Ryoukiden

Don't search any of these if you want to live in happy-go-lucky life, especially the third one...

Oyasumi punpun is a manga that would leave its readers depressed for days. But nonetheless I can assure you that it’s one of the best manga that you would ever read if you dare to give it a try.

it might be an odd one but i found God Eater to be very eerie to watch for some reason. it was a short show - something i'm not used to - and so much happened in each episode and it felt so fast paced and gripped me a lot

Probably the one anime which had me stopped watching animes was jigoku shoujo, 1-3 season can still be stomached but you're overwhelmed with despair and injustice and comes 4th season with the same air. I stopped watching 4th season Coz of it,

it makes you ponder what really is evil and good- or is there really any stuff called good or justice in this world if we are all sinners at the end of the day. Then that makes sending one to hell or punishing a fellow human seem unfair if you yourself had also sinned.

Yeah, I agree Oyasumi Punpun was dark as a kettle could be. I didn't finish reading the manga Coz of it. I dig dark-aired mangas like these but if you're faced with some hard stuffs irl makes you wanna avoid these type of genres.

Sorry for the lengthy response-- just a jigoku shoujo effect

Eh, I also consider this to be pretty dark as well, I have just seen a few episodes and damn. I will watch the rest of the series too someday whenever I can stream anime without being tortured by mobile data.

This might seem bland, but Danganronpa. It is the only anime/game that i have seen that can get away with killing most of the characters.

nothing wrong with presenting your opinion no worries

Also, you did say "that i have seen" but I still have to mention that this type of thing is actually not that uncommon - though not common either of course. Either way, I'd actually go so far as to say that this kind of approach is one type of cliché in certain styles or genres

Manga format has the more messed up stuff.

The darkest thing I read (personally for me) are:

Pupa (Very messed up, but worth a experience)
Star Strings Yori (very dark, but worth a read)
Majo no Ie: Ellen no Nikki (Masterpiece, best read after playing the game; but you can read it by itself too)
Zekkyou Gakkyuu (Not as dark and gory as the other 3, but it is dark themed. The manga is also worth a read if you like dark story with a lesson at the end)
DixeyDo
Never thought of it so I'm not sure but Oshi no Ko is a good manga and it's kinda dark
Aka is my favorite mangaka
Puck_
Juujika No Rokunin, was not ready for when the "stuff" happened
Patatitta
Yuru camp, scariest thing ever,

Actual serious answer, I don't really enjoy dark anime all that much, the darkest thing I've seen is probably made in abyss (which I higly recommend watching, and more with season 2 in the way)

uhm i forgot the name but it was like meta something but i remember the code 177013, everyone was reading it so i read it
Neigdoig
The darkest I remember seeing is Testament of Sister New Devil. It can get decently dark at times.

probably boku no pico mahou shoujo site, to think that was my first anime too XD
Machiavellian
Berserk, oyasumi punpun, devilman crybaby, euphoria ;)
Julian_Kaiser
There was this anime which I watched that didn't have a proper ending and was left with a scary cliffhanger and the mc still hasn't solved the clues.

Forgotten the title, it was such an old one.

''Sachi-iro no One Room'' is REALLY dark. The story is about a girl who hates her life, her parents abuse her, her teacher r$pes her, and she is bullied by her classmates. So a guy kidnaps, and she thinks the guy saved her life and they both start having a 'normal' life
THAT_otaku
Fire Punch is in a way, i feel like ive seen a lot worse but none are coming to mind rn
Zeraltz
Madoka Magica / Devilman Crybaby / Berserk

No longer human(Ningen Shikkaku)
VOS Laika
Elfen Lied is really horrifying because it plays on human nature
