I tried skinning the spinner using the new style elements but the red and yellow old style spinner is what appears whenever I test my skin. I also tried copying the default new style spinner elements to my skin's folder, both SD and HD sizes, to see if the problem is with the elements I made. The old style spinner still appears after trying this. How can I fix this issue?

Remove spinner-background from your skin, that should fix it.
