Did I ever tell you guys how much I hate the junji ito collection? For those who don't know, Junji Ito is one of the most respected and most amazing horror manga artists in the whole genre. Almost everything he makes takes a great deal of effort, passion and time, which leads to impressive feats of drawing and truly horrifying artworks that will leave you pissing your pants.
Studio Deen, knowing his profile, decides to adapt multiple of his works into an anime. And boy they fucking did adapt it into an anime. An anime full of shit and atrocities. One look at the anime and junji's work can immediately tell you how bad they fucked it up. The animation looks lazy and half-assed, shitty voice acting, you barely get scared and instead laugh at how awful it is.

Yeah, I expected that they should've at least tried with Junji Ito, but unfortunately I put my hopes too much that it'll be good. Let's just hope that Production I.G who's adapting Uzumaki could really bring out the horror like Junji Ito did.eblf2013 wrote:

So far mine is probably World's End Harem. It wasn't terrible, just mediocre and cliche as fuck.

In terms of objectively the worst anime I saw, I think I have to give it to Doll's Frontline. That show was so exponentially boring I had to check how much time is left before the episode ends. It's not outright egregious where I develop hateful emotions, but it's just enough of good and (mostly) bad for me to just see it as a complete bore, and I'd rather be hateful for something than not feel anything at all.

Mist hashira easily killing the 5th upper rank alone while the last one lost his hand over it? These upper ranks are said to not have been killed in like over a 100 years and by the time tanjiro came along they've been dropping like flies.
I think my taste has changed over the years to where I'm able to criticize this show now.
Cgi are all over the place in the industry (Mob Psycho 100 is exception), it save to say that it's the standard. Most of anime use cgi to save money, but Demon Slayer use it to achieve what hand drawn animation can't do. Why do I assume that? Because most studios outsource their cgi, but UFOtable cgi is in-house. All the team not just focusing on 2D or 3D but they worked together to achieve the result what they wanted. I drop a lot of shows if I don't like them from the start, but the worst one I've ever finished watching is definitely Assassin's Pride.
Nah the cgi just looks really out of place when you put it in demon slayer's environment. For a franchise that makes millions to billions of yen, ufotable shouldn't resort to those methods since I personally think it ruins the show's aesthetic, which many of fans watch it for if they think the story is bad. Granted there are CGI that do elevate an anime's animation but demon slayer isn't it. Also I need an example of CGI doing what hand drawn animation can't do, since I can't percieve any situation where it applies.Rezq wrote:

I think my taste has changed over the years to where I'm able to criticize this show now.
Cgi are all over the place in the industry (Mob Psycho 100 is exception), it save to say that it's the standard. Most of anime use cgi to save money, but Demon Slayer use it to achieve what hand drawn animation can't do. Why do I assume that? Because most studios outsource their cgi, but UFOtable cgi is in-house. All the team not just focusing on 2D or 3D but they worked together to achieve the result what they wanted. They got beaten so easily because age factor, they have lived for more than 100 years afterall lol

How the fuck is tanjiro able to fight against the 4rd upper rank alone while it took 2 more skilled demon slayers and a hashira to kill the 6th upper rank? Mist hashira easily killing the 5th upper rank alone while the last one lost his hand over it? These upper ranks are said to not have been killed in like over a 100 years and by the time tanjiro came along they've been dropping like flies.

Theoretically yes, practically no. The movement in the video is still not really dynamic, the shape of walls and things in the background are still basic, and not a lot of things happening. In action animation like demon slayer there are a lot of things happening, character movement, visual effects, and interaction with the environtment make this practically impossible. Not to mention in anime studio they only have a few background artists and not a lot of them can animate moving background.Stomiks wrote:

The animation is one of the worst I've seen if you were trying to recreate stories from one of the most renowed horror creators, the voice acting and sounds are so unfitting it'd belong in a circus, the characters have their souls ripped out of them and acts as a driver to continue the story, etc.
It feels like they weren't even trying to live to Junji Ito's name. There's no effort, no passion, and is a massive middle finger to every story that was adapted in that anime.
