yeah idk what im doing with myself but anyway MORE FA SUGGESTIONS
Artist suggestion:
phononAn American artist known for their unique blend of jazz, neuro and funk sounds along with their way of toying with music theory throughout songs. In 2020,
phonon made his debut via the release of his song "Polyriddim" via Odio Records, which became recognised in the dubstep community due to it's usage of "nested tuplets" throughout the choruses and that it was more complex rhythmically compared to the stereotypical concept of how a "dubstep" song would be constructed along with becoming the #1 song on music platform "Beatport" for some time — since then,
phonon has received support and had their songs appear in playlists from other artists from the likes of Adam Neely, Jacob Collier and 100 gecs. In Osu!, phonon's popularity mainly comes from a loved 4K Osu!Mania map of his song
Polyriddim (mapped by
HowToPlayLN) of which the map is unique for being a challenge on memorising the SV patterning which is a lot harder for normal Osu!Mania players to sightread, essentially making it a challenge map for SV players in the community. Aside from all of this, I think the artist would be a neat addition to the Featured Artist roster as we haven't had many "rhythmically complex" songs, so they would fit nicely and they would be able to provide some more song variety into the section, similar to the likes of other featured artists such as
Frums and
II-L.

Polyphia (Not to be confused with
Polysha)
Hailing from Texas,
Polyphia is an instrumental "progressive rock" band that formed in 2010 and has taken influences from other genres such as jazz, hip-hop, and R&B for their music. In 2013, the band had started receiving mainstream success after a guitar playthrough of their song "Impassion" (From their 2013 E.P: "Inspire") had gone viral on Youtube, while since then they have been growing in popularity and have toured with other progressive metal bands such as Perphery, Between the Buried and Me and August Burns Red. In Osu!, their popularity comes from multiple ranked maps of their songs mainly under the Osu!Standard gamemode each of which having more than 100k+ plays. Their works were introduced to Osu! in 2021 with a ranked 8* map of
"Nasty feat. Jason Richardson" before more maps of songs by the said band have been ranked later on, such as
G.O.A.T,
O.D and the recently ranked
Rich Kids (feat. Yvette Young). Aside from these, I believe that Polyphia would be a great choice for the Featured Artist library considering the upcoming popularity of their songs (and ranked maps of said songs) in the community and that they could provide more song variety into the section considering that we haven't gotten any more Progressive and math rock in some time, of which it has potential to suit for some new maps under any gamemode.
