Any info we can have about the future ranking system?
I disagree with this statement, holding that I can FC most of my expert songs and are ranked well below 10k. Why? Maybe only because I have ~300 maps, many of which I rarely touch. The idea that Rank determines skill is probably the most ANNOYING assumption made by players.Wishy22 wrote:
I think it should return since even when it wasn't really a perfect tool for knowing how good a player was, it was somehow accurate (high ranked people got to be somewhat good at least, and people ranked under 10k is usually not good for example)
Exceptions may exist, of course..EnPassant wrote:

It's as accurate as a bullet in the dark.
I do, however, agree with spoilers.
P.S. no offense to the top ranks, you guys are gods. I meant in the general sense

Haha I was wondering about this too; would it be possible to return it to the default where new timing sections are inherited?NatsumeRin wrote:
one thing i want to ask about the editor change:

I'll check but I thought the default behaviour was always to create a non-inherited section unless you used ctrl+shift+P. It should create a new section at the current time unless there's already one there? I'll check this too.NatsumeRin wrote:

and if i click "inherited points", it will just show the first inherited point and just add a new point 100ms after it, need to click "use current time" and find it yourself... reminds me of an old version orz.
maybe do something with it? i'm really glad to see the hitsound volume thing in the editor, but it's harder to make plenty of green lines and make them work for you now.

its will be funny to see new mappers map with full of red lines XDNatsumeRin wrote:
ctrl+shift+p works fine.
there's not so many multi-BPM songs, but there are lots or maps with many inherited timing sections, and this should be taken into account. also plz, i don't think there are more than 100 maps have more red lines than green lines. so the default behavior should be adding an inherirted section?
anyway... i don't want to waste hundreds or even thousands of clicks because of this small thing.

I really feel like writing an essay or something defending the original ranking system, but for now just a few words since I'm seriously disheartened by the number of people cheering for the old system to be done away with:
Argument 1: The old system forces us to play songs we don't like to get ahead.
Point: Do you really think it's fair to be able to get the top spot ignoring maps you hate? What about the monthly charts? Aren't those only according to someone's taste?
Argument 2: It's meaningless because you can just play easy maps that have more points to pull ahead of more experienced players.
-Is the time investment in this game really worth nothing to you? Most good multiplayer scoring systems both offer ways for super skilled players to jump up quickly AND methods of "grinding" to crawl your way to the top in a slow but steady way. Why shouldn't a player be rewarded with a higher rank for having played a LOT more maps, or having been with the game longer, investing YEARS into their rank. Is it really fair to (us) to just decide one day, ya know, rank isn't accurate, let's just do away with it and find a more creative way to rank the players.
This is just to counter-argue some of the points brought up on this thread, I could write more about why I really agree with the current system for ranking and why it is a very good system, but I'll save that for another day.

Hardly. I exclusively use ctrl+shift+P because typing in millisecond values makes no sense to me. If anything, the fixed bulk adjustment stuff should SAVE clicks.NatsumeRin wrote:

Yep, if you see the new logo to be slanted then your eyes are fooling you. Even as of now I see it skewed sometimes.ykcarrot wrote:

變LAG了
18:02 <ppy> !faq lag
18:02 <BanchoBot> Lag is a very general term, which can be used to describe just about
anything going wrong with anything.
18:02 <BanchoBot> If you are going to complain about lag, please be specific in
exactly WHERE the lag occurs, and WHAT it involves (internet lag?
graphical freezes? slow framerate? input lag? brain lag?)
18:02 <BanchoBot> Also mention when the "lag" occurs, if there are any special
conditions for it to occur, and if you have any idea what caused it.
Also make sure to check nothing else is running on your PC which
could affect CPU/memory/disk usage.

i have same problem, if u move maps to another folder (custom folders inside Songs folder), sometimes osu gettin stuck with a "unable to load audio" and there only one way to end it: ctrl+alt+delhoozimajiget wrote:
Nice patch up and new features... Only one problem I've found is that when osu is looking for a song and there is some error with the map it just fubars itself and I have to restart osu. Before there would be no issue and I could play any map regardless of an audio error.
I experienced this when I was using the testbuild for awhile. Thought it was only my computer being bad though, so didn't really pay it a second thought, but seems I'm not the only one getting this :p Damn this lag made me have to retry Wing my Way 5 times or more or something xDJesusYamato wrote:

I don't like how the !where and !stats codes no longer work though.
I added a forced run to stop people complaining about "lag after 110seconds into a song". Based on negative responses, this isn't a solution and will roll this back next build.JesusYamato wrote:

The little blue plus shows regardless of what skin you choose. Is this intended behavior? I assumed it was because this is a new element and all old skins do not have their own .jpg (what filename is it for skinning?)peppy wrote:
