To go over some of the differences of the policy in theory that is,
R - D
pro second amendment - pro gun control
low taxes - high taxes
more economic freedom - more welfare and regulation
pro free speech - anti free speech
more immigration control - less immigration control
anti-abortion - pro-abortion
etc

Also, another recent one was the administration's budget, that cut a lot of programs, like the National Endowment for the Arts, for example, and decreased funding to many Cabinet departments, but still increased Obama's already massive defense budget (which, by the way, is more than the next seven largest defense budgets in the world combined). But that last point seems more like a USA problem than a Trump problem, to be honest.Kisses wrote:

Is there anything else to trump that make people dislike him so heavily?
Despite being a supposed "left-wing" alternative, a lot of them are still as easily bought with lobby money as Republicans. The relationship between the Democrats and the mainstream media is also pretty ridiculous a lot of the time, especially with regards to the Clintons. Not to mention a foreign policy of indiscriminate drone strikes. And here's a problem with the left-wing in general, not just Dems -- refusing to let people engage with certain viewpoints, even if that would let people refute them, especially on college campuses (see: Berkeley before a Milo Yiannopoulos event). Like, I despise a lot of the Milo, Richard Spencer, etc. provocateur types, but their events shouldn't be met with censorship/violent responses. Here's the precedent from the main civil liberty group in the US, the ACLU.Kisses wrote:

What are the downsides to democrats; if this is hard to view then what about extreme/hardcore democrats?
In general, there isn't any inherent integrity to democrats. Politicians are politicians, and politicians can always be bought. You need to find the people with principles and stick with them, regardless of which party they're a part of. Don't vote for a Dem just because you support the idea behind the party: Vote on a candidate-by-candidate basis, and purge the whole "sports team" attitude so that progress can be made.Raspberriel wrote:

You can't claim to be tolerant while at the same time allowing intolerant people to spread their ideology. This is actually a thing called the Paradox of Intolerance. I condemn violence as much as anyone else, but peacefully protesting and refusing to allow someone to speak in that matter is actually freedom of speech working as intended. Nobody is entitled to be given a platform.Raspberriel wrote:

In the eight years Obama was President the national debt didn't decrease by a cent. As soon as Trump takes office, the national debt has been decreasing. Trump is increasing the defence budget, but he is shifting the focus towards national defence rather than intervention and imperialism, and he actually knows how to offset spending with cuts, i.e. balance the budget. And considering he's not taking any money from the Presidential salary, it's fair to say he is much more prudent with finances.Raspberriel wrote:

One of my main gripes with Republicans right now is that they're very deregulation-happy, to the point where they'll sacrifice things like environmental well-being so companies can turn a profit (see: the current administration's attitude toward the EPA, and scratching out the Stream Protection Act, essentially allowing industrial companies to dump their waste wherever they please). Maybe if we show these lawmakers some of the incidents that inspired these legislations -- like a river catching on fire because of all the oil waste dumped in it -- maybe they'll change their minds. It was hardcore Republican Richard Nixon that created the EPA, after all.

idk though, I think B1rd should sound off on this, he sees things that I don't.Well besides how corrupt they are, and how they don't adhere to their own philosophy very well (and that goes for both parties), it's basically just left vs right politics. We could go into one of the many issues like minimum wage, gun control, taxes, big government vs small government, freedom of speech vs hate speech, but that's another whole debate.
None will be provided as it's an opinion based point.Blitzfrog wrote:
